I notice a lot of useless posts in NU/W and CQ&F. In NU/W people welcome a user, when they really don't need be. (I.E. a day after/after 20 other welcomes.) In CQ&F, like ten people answer the question with the same answer. They shouldn't be able to do that. That is, they shouldn't post there unless they can add to the inquiry.

    So... yeah.

In NU/W this should not be discouraged since it makes members feel welcome, in fact that's a charm point to this forum.

As far as CQ&F goes, I see little harm in it unless there are already 5 posts that answer the question perfectly.
However, because CQ&F lacks a formal moderator, this shall not happen. H-Staff dont have the time to lock every old or answered thread here like a dedicated moderator might. Last few times I pitched the Idea of appointing a mod for CQ&F, they didnt like it. :(

So, unless you can get H-Staff to care about these problems, good luck getting anything done. XD

I only see this as more work for ye happy ol' mods/admins. A pointless post is a pointless post; if it's spam or whatever it'll get reported/deleted/whatever anyway. Adding a whole other rule that does basically the same thing just equals more work for the mods.

And I thought post count was supposed to be unimportant, correct?

As I know you've been made personally aware, spam is not welcomed in NU/W any more than in the various other boards around here. You're right, there are a few that get through, but rest assured, Drew and I take care of them when we get on and see them - and we do check every new thread and post. If we think they're spam, we'll just get rid of 'em. You can help by reporting if ya want. :3

Besides, there's nothing wrong with posting a welcome after quite a few other people have already done so - it's not a race. Their welcome may seem a little hackneyed after a few other people have posted similar sentiments... but as long as it's an unique post on their end, there's nothing wrong with it on my end. Just so long as they're not copying other welcomes verbatim, of course.

Just because we don't appoint a mod to Q&F doesn't mean we don't care. :/

If people are getting way out of hand and responding to Q&F posts after it's already been answered, we do often delete posts. I know I do, if a post has nothing more to bring to the table. But I don't like closing threads unless I have to. :( It makes the forum look so uninviting and we don't want to discourage questions and suggestions.
