I also agree that the Weezing and Arbock departure was REALLY sad, I almost cried when Team Rocket tried to save them, so sad ;_;.

;_; i kno i was really sad and gained more respect for them as characters. ;_;

Saddest moment was on the 1st episode. When it began raining and ash had pikachu and they were running from the spearow and he crashed on the bike. Pikachu just layed there, helplessly, and ash tried to get it back into the pokeball. Then he tried to confront the spearow and pikachu came to the rescue. Then it was a good ending from there. "sniff"

That is nostalgia for meh man ;_; it made me really sadfaced when that happened. but it was greatest moment.

The saddest moment for me was literatly the episode where ash leaves his Pidgeot at the forest ;_; like no lie near the tears for me on that one.

The moments with Jessie and James releasing Arbok and Wheezing for the sake of the other Ekans and Koffing once again goes to show the depth and emotional dynamics of Jessie and James' emotional facets. The show is quite adept at capturing those characterizations, as they both police around stealing Pokémon with little regard for the trainers but still love their own. But it's indeed one of the more dejecting moments, where I think it's shown that not even Team Rocket's Pokémon are beasts... no Pokémon is.

But Ash's inaugural sacrifice for Pikachu and Misty's goodbye are definitively up there for me in moments that run my heart through.

I've quite a few moments that I've watched in the anime that were really sad. Some of them have been listed or said. Some have not.

- Ash's release of Butterfree
This was one of the more depressing moments. Having to let your first captured pokemon go must be very depressing indeed. It made me want to cry.

-Ash's death in the first movie
They can't let Ash die! Ash is too much of a good person for this too happen.

-Brock's and Misty's departure
A very saddening moment for me. The whole episode itself was actually sort of saddening and inspiring. Especially the part where Ash uses the gifts his friends give him to blast off Team Rocket.

-Pikachu almost dies
When Pikachu started getting that really bad electrical overload, I got sad at the thought of Pikachu dying.

-Pikachu almost dies during the Viridian battle.
Pikachu was in such a critical condition, and its willpower to go on and batle Raichu again was really tear-causing.

- Jessie's and James' sacrfiice for Arbok and Weezing.
Most saddening moment for me. Giving up everything they have so that their pokemon can have their wishes granted and to stop Tyranitar was really moving.

-Team Rocket sacrifices themselves to fulfill the prophecy.
You could tell how moving htat was. Even Ash recognized the sincerity of what they did.

Sir Aaron's death :(
