Save file incompatibility after adding maps with Porymap

    Hi all,

I've been adding quite a few maps into pokeemerald with Porymap, but sometimes after I add a new map, compile the rom and load an existing save, the game crashes. I can get to the title screen and select "CONTINUE", but after that the screen turns single-colored (so far, green or blue), no music plays and generally nothing happens. Now, I understand that this is likely related to the incompatibility of the old save file and the new offsets in the new rom, but I was wondering whether there's anything that can be done to salvage the old save file so that the game could be played further. As you may guess, it gets quite cumbersome to beta test the rom if the save must be started over many times. (Also, I don't know at this point how many maps exactly I will add to the game, so I can't fully plan ahead.)

So, in a nutshell: does anyone know whether there's anything that can be done to the old save file to prevent the crash? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
