I recently played (and beat) my first Shantae game (Shantae and the Pirate's Curse), given I felt I probably should play something in the series after pledging for its kickstarter game in the series. Anyone else here play these games, and what were your thoughts?

I'm not a fan, but I'd like to be. I've been wanting to get into the series since Risky's Revenge was released on the DSi store. It was always too much for me, but recently-ish I bought that (Director's Cut, on the PC), the original (on my 3DS), and the Pirate Curse (On my Wii U). I do like them, though I'm slogging through them. My idea is that I'll buy Risky's Revenge's 3DS version when it comes out (if it isn't already) and play the games in order.

...Problem is, I'm stuck in the beginning-ish of the original, so...that's where I am.

I also got Pirate's Curse on the Wii U. The game wasn't easy (although buying auto-potions helped). Some sections of the end were somewhat frustrating, bleh. Overall it was enjoyable - quite enjoyed the music and the gameplay was tight for the most part. Bit too much fanservice for the sake of it for my liking and the dialogue could have been polished on the grammar side (typo, Ok. rather than Okay/OK, etc) but it was otherwise entertaining. Some of the items were guide-dang-it with finding.
