is sharpedo worth it in competitive battling
anyway can someone help me with natures and movesets for this poke
Thanks oh and item and evs as well

    >:O I hate you. How dare you talk about Sharpedo that way. >:O (cuz I wuv it 8D)

Sharpedo is very useful when equipped with Choice Band.
Sharpedo, though, is a Sweeping pokemon so its Defense stats and Weaknesses are irrelevent.

Well, due to Sharpedo's numerous weakness and crappy defenses, I don't think it's quite worth it in competitive battling. The only thing that's remotely useful is it's Attack and Speed. And even so, it's moveset fails it. Use Floatzel for a replacement. If it's 3rd gen only, then just about any pokemon could own Sharpedo.

Not saying I have anything against it. This is by looking at movesets and the stats. The TMs I sort of ignore.

i hate floatzel mainly cause it breaks up my chains and sharpedos attack and speed stats only matter as it's a sweeper as azonic says

Not sure about EV's myself but a moveset would be:

    Waterfall
    Crunch
(both taking advantage of Sharpedo's attack & type)
Protect? (maybe help it last a little longer)
Swagger (help keep opponents on their toes, although risky if your opponent is lucky enough to snap out of the confusion quick enough)

For 4th Gen, try Aqua Jet. Not to strong, but kinda guarantees the first hit. Combine this with a Choice Band and you may be able to knock a weakened (or water-weak) opponent out in the first go.

EDIT! - Ice Fang would be a good move for Sharpedo to attack any grass types that may come up against it:

    Second moveset:

    Earthquake (mashes lightning badly)
Ice Fang (attack against grass types)
Crunch ( pretty decent attack, makes use of Sharpedo's types)
Waterfall/Aqua Jet (like crunch, but Aqua Jet IS faster)

But they are right. Sharpedo is...not exactly competetive standard. If you want Sweepers, go with something like Infernape or Gengar.

    Hope this helps!

The Best Pokemon in the World: Sharpedo @ Choice Band
    Trait: Rough Skin
    Nature: Jolly
    EVs: 252 Attack / 252 Speed / 4 HP
    - Waterfall
    - Ice Fang
    - Earthquake
    - Night Slash / Crunch

Earthquake and Ice Fang already offer fantastic type coverage. Waterfall and the Dark Move is for raw power and STAB

You're gonna want at least 3 attacking moves on it. And Sharpedo does have potential. Here's what happened at the Battle Tower (Single Battle):
I had an Electivire and a Magmortar. They had a Sharpedo. Their Sharpedo OHKOed my Electivire with EQ. Then, I sent out Magmortar. Sharpedo used Surf (big mistake, should have gone with EQ again). My Magmortar was in the Red Zone. This shows you how powerful Sharpedo is, but there's more. Sharpedo's Defenses are TERRIBLE; my Magmortar used Thunderbolt and somehow OHKOed the Sharpedo. So if you're gonna run a Sharpedo, give it Focus Sash.

    go with this...

    Sharpedo@Choice Scarf
    Ability:Rough Skin
    Nature:Adamant
    EVs:252 Speed, 252 Attack, 6 HP
    -Waterfall/Aqua Jet
    -Crunch
    -Earthquake
    -Poison Jab/Ice Fang

With a max speed of 289 with neutral nature is pretty fast and with choice scarf im sure you'll outrun many pokes(kind of like Choice Scarf Heracross). And with a max attack of 372 it will deal some MAJOR damage.Waterfall for STAB and also for Crunch.EQ will take care of Electric pokes and your choice between Poison Jab and Ice Fang.
Hey I kind of like this and i might try this out...first time making a set for sharpedo.

I'm not going to lie, Sharpedo is pretty sexy in 4th Gen, even for a UU Specimen.

    Sharpedo @ Choice Scarf
    Ability: Rough Skin
    EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
    Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
    - Earthquake
    - Waterfall
    - Crunch
    - Ice Fang
With as much attack as he has, he'd probably make common OU Sweepers look like wussies.

Iceman has probably named the best Nature, Adamant, boosting it's attack. =]

I'm going to ask a stupid question: Why is Sharpedo a UU? It seems far too strong for OU.

What is wrong with the Focus Sash option? It gives it an ok durability, and has certainly helped me once or twice. With correct prediction of course. Although Focus Sash Sharpedo is rather easy to kill, if you find something faster (Looks directly at his lovely Yanmega), then it is screwed...:)

Well, the problem with Focus Sash users is that they falter to faster Sash users.

OK, I just checked Sharpedo's Stats......even ALAKAZAM's Def is higher! Wow......Sharpedo seems good....if it can survive (which, unless used with a cunning trainer, will). Wow...its Defenses are both at 40...terrible...

Once again, Sharpedo's Defenses DO NOT Matter.

Neither Sharpedo nor Alakazam will last to take a hit. They were both made for sweeping. Sweeping pokemon don't need good defenses to work. Weavile for example - Defenses are horrible but still very useful in battle.

EDIT: Flamehaze beat me to it D:

    /facepalm

Really, look now, does defense really matter for a sweeper?

Do you look for attack on a wall? No, so why defense on a sweeper.

Sure it's frail, but is a complete monster if used in the right hands.

Yeah, it's strong, but it SIMPLY CAN"T SURVIVE. It needs SOME defense. 40 is low, but too low. Still, it is an option...

I know they're not important....but good luck using a Sharpedo, that, when combined with SR/Spikes, will be OHKOed every time.
