You know what, I'm another UK player who's never seen a shiny. I thought it was just me, but after logging 130 hours of play time on Gold/Silver, and 150 hours on Sapphire, and never seeing a single shiny, I'm beginning to wonder if they actually took them out of the European versions.

im from the uk and i have 5 shineys (not AR obviously)

1st shiney i ever caught was a medicham on victory road, apparently they're one of the easiest to get in R/S, i read up on it on some wierd shiney pokemon site

I think the shininess extends to Newcastle, as that's where I got my shiny Slowpoke (which is now my shiny Slowking). But... apart from the Red Gyarados, it's the only one I've ever encountered... For a while, I did think they'd taken them out, as I never saw one in RuSa.
