Sorry if there's a thread like this already ...

But, why do you think some Pokemon are shinnies?
Like, why some Pokemons have the "shiny gene" , how it happens
    Why it happens in nature?

I suppose it's the same reason why some animals are albino or why black panthers are black or why white bengal tigers are white.
Because mutations exist in nature. They may not be there or are not visibly noticeable but sometimes they are there and they are noticeable.

I see, but black panthers and white bengal tigers are another species iirc
While albinos are a corruption of genes (malfunctioning melanin glands) i.e.: their color glands are off
    But shininess happens the opposite.
And it doesn't really answer why it happens, the mutation most probably happened for some (evolutionary) reason.

Black panthers and white bengal tigers aren't another species. Black panthers is the result of melanism in large cats and white bengal tiger are caused by a recessive mutation.
In any case, we know nothing about a Pokemon's genes. For all we know their genes work differently and occasionally they turn a specific other colour for some other reason. Like, it's helpful to have in their enviroment or maybe long ago they were those colours but since then changed to the colours they are now. Who knows.

    True, who knows
I like to think that shinnies have special treatment
Like it has a higher position on its pack, is more chased around for mating (kinda canon this one ... kinda) etc.

I really think there are just random shinies in every 100 or so games. I really don't know. The only shiny I have ever caught myself was in Soulsilver I believe. It's just luck.

On the other hand, in real Pokemon life, I think some Pokemon parents just get lucky. It's probably just a trait that occurs every number of generations.

My guess is that it's a recessive gene in Pokémon genetics. I'm sure the creators have thought that over at least briefly.
