Shining Through The Darkness

Background
With performance enhancing drugs causing such drastic improvements to human capabilities that they have been banned by most athletic and sporting competitions, it was only a matter of time until certain groups started to experiment with the effects of steroids on pokémon. One such group, based in Johto, called themselves the Institute of Pokémon Development (IPD). Disguised as a pokémon medicine provider, producing the majority of the healing items available in pokémarts, the IPD was receiving backing from Team Rocket to find a way to increase the strength of pokémon.

After many years of trails, the IPD finally found a supplement that universally increased the strength of every pokémon. However, there was a side effect. The pokémon were perfectly healthy, but the steroid had altered the colour of each and every test subject. Some pokémon's colours had changed far more drastically than others, but the change was noticeable with the naked eye on the majority of species.

After further testing, the IPD classified the side effects as 'insignificant' and decided to sell the pokémon to Team Rocket. Unfortunately for the IPD, before Team Rocket could be informed and the IPD could collect their money, the pokémon broke loose. Having made the some of the strongest pokémon even stronger, the IPD couldn't contain them. Johto now had hundreds of wrongly coloured pokémon that had seemingly just appeared from thin air roaming loose! How could the IPD explain this?

In a PR offensive that still amazes insiders at the company, the IPD managed to pass these new 'shiny' pokémon off as a result of natural variation. This was instantly questioned by Pokémon Professors and Trainers alike: Where had these 'shiny' pokémon been up until now?

These questions died away, however, once trainers discovered that these new 'shiny' pokémon seemed to be stronger than their ordinary counterparts. Soon, the pokémon league had sanctioned the use of shiny pokémon in official battles and, after IPD agents had managed to 'relocate' some of the shiny pokémon to other regions, the whole issue blew over.

(This happened around five years before the RP is set)

The Present
After a number of anonymous tips over the years about sinister happenings at the IPD, the police sent an undercover agent to investigate the company from the inside. After three months on the job, the agent found secret company files detailing the facts surrounding the birth of the shiny pokémon. This information was quickly relayed to police HQ and the pokémon league headquarters. This triggered a number of events...

With their experimenting now public, the IPD withdrew from public view, refusing to produce any more of their healing products. As the dominant producer of healing products, this caused a massive shortage and made obtaining potions, antidotes etc. almost impossible.

The officials at the pokémon league also made a series of unprecedented decisions. Firstly they banned shiny pokémon from competition, as they were 'unnatural'. This was followed soon after by an order for all trainers to hand all shiny pokémon in to pokémon league officials. However, many trainers were unwilling to hand their pokémon over. So the pokémon league declared that if people did not hand their shiny pokémon over within a week they would be taken by force.

This announcement was two weeks ago. True to their word, pokémon league officials have rounded up every shiny pokémon registered to any trainer with a pokémon training licence. The pokémon league has now announced that they will begin the long process of rounding up shiny pokémon from unlicensed trainers and the many shiny pokémon roaming in the wild...

Where you come in
You are a young trainer who owns a shiny pokémon, but does not own a pokémon training licence. This means your pokémon hasn't been found by pokémon league officials... yet, but with a crackdown beginning you will have to be vigilant. As you are a start up trainer, your shiny pokémon is your only pokémon... so be careful who you battle! (Remember they are banned) You will get the chance to add pokémon to your team in the RP.

Although pokémon league officials haven't found out about your shiny pokémon yet, someone has noticed. You received a letter from a young Nurse Joy telling you to come to an abandoned warehouse located just outside Cherrygrove City. The letter talks of setting up a group to try and save all the remaining shiny pokémon from capture and captivity by pokémon league officials or worse Team Rocket, who have been posing as pokémon league officials and taking trainers' pokémon. In the letter Nurse Joy also offers to treat your pokémon at the warehouse, as shiny pokémon are no longer treated at pokémon centres.

With the prospect of safety, protection and the chance to try and save some wild pokemon... the question is: Will you take up Nurse Joys offer.. or maybe the question is can you afford not to?

Appearance: Niki has long blond hair that falls down to her waist. She is only 5'2", and has a body shape like an hourglass. She wears a white tank top and a short red skirt that flares out a little at the bottom. Red and white mary jane shoes cover her feet, and she wears a rose pendant around her neck that had been her mothers.

Personality: Though Nikki has full knowledge of how cruel and unfair the world truly is, she holds on to her innocence and tries to show others the beauty hidden in the world. She is soft spoken and kind, but if she or her friends are truly wronged, she does not hesitate to fight back. She is respectful to her elders, and she truly believes that there is good in everyone. She is loyal to those she befriends, and is usually very quiet. When she does speak, she has a very soft and kind voice, one that rarely utters a harsh word.

History: Nikki was raised by her grandmother Melody from the time she was 6 years old. Her mother had been murdered, and her father had been the only suspect. He had passed away a year later in the prison, due to his horrendous guilty conscience, and Nikki was left with her mother's mother. Nikki grew up in Ecruteak City, a quiet town north of Violet City, where she played with her grandmother's shiny Raichu. She lived a relatively normal life, until her grandmother and Raichu mysteriously disappeared when the shiny pokemon had been banned. Nikki never could find her, despite her desperate searches.

RP sample: The blonde haired girl stood against the window, the white lacey handmade curtains swirling around her as a northern breeze blew inside. She looked up at the newly night sky, picking out the first star she could see. She made a silent wish that she would find her grandmother and Raichu soon. It had been months and there was still no sign of either of them.

A silver colored eevee jumped onto the chair beside the window, looking up sadly at her trainer. "Ee?" she said quietly. Niki smiled as she looked down at the pokemon. "I'm alright," she said, "just thinking is all." Her kind and soft voice rang sweetly in the eevee's ears. After another glance at the night sky, Niki shut the window and drew the blinds, making sure no one could see her or her eevee. She picked the small foxlike pokemon up in her arms, and sat down in the chair.

"It's ok Efah," she said soothingly, scratching the pokemon lovingly behind the ears, "I'm not going to let anyone get you. You're safe with me."

1. Your personality needs to be bulked up a little, not a lot just a line or two and it will be fine.
2. Does the black and white Eevee have a specific importance? If possible I'd prefer to stick to official alternate colouration (i.e. silver Eevee). However, if you have a specific reason for having a black and white Eevee I'd love to hear it and then I'll decide if you can use it :)

I would like to reserve a spot please ;3 I have a limited amount of time atm to make a complete SU so I'll gradually edit my post with progress... that is... if you wouldn't mind >.< If it doesn't get finished by today it should be completed tommorrow... of course... if you don't mind ^.^'

Here is my sample:

"Hmm, what should I do with this Snover?" Lucy asked to herself and two pokemon. "This Snover is to large and wild to leave on its own. I would take it, but it would be to much of burden to have two Snovers especially with the personality of this one. I guess I'll capture it for now" she continued and threw a ball at the Snover causing it to dissappear inside.

Lucy began continued walking with ease. She stopped once in a clearing to look at her map and to feed her pokemon simple berries found in the woods. She enjoyed petting her newly caught pokemon and she observed its nature. It was a quiet pokemon that perfered not to talk or fight. She was also very sweet and Lucy gave her a name to fit her.

"If you don't mind Burmy, I'd like to nickname you Silk. Silk is such a nice pretty and soft fabric. It's also something a lot of bug pokemon produce" Lucy said to her Burmy while the other pokemon played. The Burmy nodded a little with a blush and accepted ownership under Lucy. The group then was returned to thier pokeballs and she set of again until she approached a skinny strip of land.

"Hello would like to buy one of our delectable Slowpoketails!" a woman shouted while running up to her from an unavoidable spot.

"Slowpoketails!? I LOVE Slowpoketails! I remember always having that delcacy at my father's mansion as child. How much are they!" she replied energetically.

"Only ten-million and three thousand pokes!" the woman shouted back eager to get her first customer.

Lucy had already pulled out her wallet and upon hearing that outragous price her face dropped. "Ten-million and three thousand pokes! I don't have that kind of money!" she screamed back at the lady and stormed off.

"Geez, what's with all these poor people. Hopefully the Team Unknown grunts working in the cave will have better luck than me" the saleswoman sighed.

Lucy had stormed off south and hadn't noticed she was beside a wooden cabin until she bumped into someone.

"Ouch, what was that for" replied the clutsy nurse Lucy had bumped into.

"Huh, Nurse Joy what are you doing here?" Lucy wondered staring at the nurse.

"Oh, you see this route tends to be quite lengthy so we have a cabin out here. Would you like to come and rest. We can heal your pokemon for you" the nurse replied.

"Sure!" Lucy hollered back and she was escorted inside the building where the nurse put her pokemon onto a machine. The healing was commencing diligently, but there was one thing that puzzled the nurse.

"Hey, I was wondering why do you have two Snover?" the nurse asked Lucy.

This envoked some discomfort and Lucy raised her voice. She was up against the left wall and recalled all that had happen. "You see now I'm stuck with two Snovers and I can't keep both of them. I need to find a nice trainer for it because they are extremely rare" Lucy concluded and her voice had seeped through the wall so the saleswoman had heard every word. The saleswoman came crashing inside the center.

"Hey you!" she shouted while pointing a finger at Lucy. "I'm a trainer and I've been looking all over for a snover! Will you please give me the one you just caught!" she lied full of enthusiasm at finally being able to get her hands on a rare pokemon.

"Only if you give me a box of those slowpoketails for free!" Lucy retorted.

"Uh, sure!" the saleswoman lied and she dashed out to her stall at the side of the building.

"I can't give her a box of those!" she thought to herself as she dumped all the tails out of a box of slowpoketails.

"Hmm, she'll notice if its empty!" she whispered quietly to herself. "What do I have... what do I have" she thought while searching for something to replace the tails.

"Hey do you have my box!" Lucy shouted at the saleswoman.

"Coming!" she shouted back and she stuffed a heavy peice of something in the box. She ran back inside and handed her the box.

"Here you go!" the saleswoman said while handing her the box.

"Hmm, seems light" Lucy said while eyeballing the saleswoman and feeling the box. She began to pry her hands on the seal when the salewomans interupted.

"Oh, you wouldn't want to open it now. They spoil easily when you open them and your not hungry because you just ate!" the saleswoman lied while beckoning for a trade.

Lucy finally submited and gave the woman the ball containing the second Snover. The woman ran away to her stall and laughed maniacally at her accomplishment. Lucy just stared into space for a moment in bewilderment of the odd woman. She then placed the box in her bag and waved the nurse good bye before leaving. Lucy set out to finish her travels on that route.

Meanwhile the saleswoman released the Snover from its ball. "Okay, Snover we have a precious taste sample that will make you stronger! Are you ready!" she snickered sinisterly and then she began searching across the store. She could not find what she was looking for anywhere.

"Where is that sample?" she screamed while searching the store frantically. Then in occured to her that she had given that sample to Lucy in that bo of "Slowpoketails".

"Wait! Come back Lucy!" she shouted while running towards her direction, but it was too late Lucy had entered the cave and the sample of Rare Candy was with her. The saleswoman would never be able to find her inside.

I just recently experienced the pains of moving so I haven't RPed for a while and my sample is a little old ^.^'

Appearance: He stands at a medium height of five feet and seven inches. He is more on the lean side, but not necessarily "skin and bones" and he lacks a definite muscle tone in his chest. Leo dyes his normally black hair blue because he feels that it gives him more character, is more artistic, and matches his icy hazel eyes. Having lived relatively close to Mt. Mortar, the Lake of Rage at the top of route 43, and the Ice Caves, Leo has hiked often and so has developed firm legs and arms. His usual atmosphere has influenced his wardrobe greatly. Leo has become use to the cold and wears a hoodie with khaki shorts and a pair of flip-flops during most temperatures. In hotter conditions he may wear a sleeveless t-shirt.

Appearance: Koji has his hair hidden behind a blue bandanna, because his hair is too long and most people mistake him for a girl. His skin is smooth and white like snow, he has blue shining eyes, and diamond earring in his left ear. Koji's favorite color is blue, which is why all his clothes are blue and white. He wears a white T-shirt, that is covered by a blue jacket, blue jeans with rips at the knees, and shoes that are a mix of white and blue.

Personality: Koji does not have friends, because he is always looking after his sick mother. This makes Koji a reliable son to his mother, compassionate, and loyal. However, because his father left him and his mother once she became sick, Koji has a certain hate towards men. He has locked his heart away and does not trust easily. The only person he trust in is his Elekid. When around other adults Koji is very respectful, because his mother taught him to be respectful to his elders. Koji has many skills such as cooking and cleaning, so he doesn't mind helping people in need. He judges people on the content of their character and he rarely gives people a second chance. With a locked heart Koji has decided to stay alone on his journey and work alone. "The darkness in my heart is loneliness and I accept that, it is my power!" is Koji's answer when someone ask him if he is ok with being lonely.

History: Koji was born in Johto with his mother and father. They lived a good life and raised Tauros on their farm in New Bark town. Koji was always the little helper and watched out for his mother and father. When Koji turned 16, his mother had become ill and could no longer work on the farm with Koji. It was two days later, when Koji's father left after he saw his wife was dying. He could not bare watching her die. He left Koji, which lead Koji to stop trusting most men that reminded him of his father. Koji continued to look after and care for his mother for a year. His mother finally passed away two days before Koji's birthday. When his mother died, Koji set the house on fire and left never to look at it again. He went on a journey with Elekid and has never gone back to New Bark Town.

Additional Information: Elekid was captured while Koji was trying to fix his power box. When Koji went outside to fix the box, he found Elekid was draining the power from the box. Unable to fight it without a Pokemon, Koji lured Elekid into a fight. He was able to wear Elekid out and then capture it with a rubber hose. After fixing the power box, Koji released Elekid and went inside. However Elekid refused to go back, he was attached to Koji. Koji accepted Elekid as his friend and are now partners in battle.

RP sample: Necro's journey While Necro waited for a response from the others, a hellspaqwn jumped in the air and knocked him out. Necro soon awoke two days later and found the cafe empty. "Where did everyone go?" questions Necro. Leon tugs on his master's clothes and points in the forest direction. "Alright, I amy have failed in trying to round the troops, but I know I can help now! By the power of Ursaring I will find them and help them save the cat." Necro dashes off into the forest. Leon quickly follows after him. When Necro finally speeds through the forest, he finds it in ruins. "There must have been a pretty harsh battle. I wonder where the others are? I hope they weren't apart of this chaos. But if they were, that would leave me alone. If I'm alone then that means I have to rely on my own power. In other words, I am about to die to wahetever creature did this." he sighs and puts his head on the ground. While felling sorry for himself, Leon jumps onto Necro's shoulder. After Necro realizes he still has Leon he cheers up. The two get off the ground and move forward into the forest.

As the two are walking they come across a camp site. The two partners investigate the area carefully. The look at the leaves that were used as a bed, some sticks that had been burned and used for firewood, and flowers. Leon deduced that the others had set up camp about two hours ago and then left. "Good work, Leon" compliments Necro. Leon then points to the tracks that have been left on the ground by another Pokemon. The duo begin to follow the tracks. As they walk along the path made of tracks, they also find blood around the area. Necro again fears that the others are dead. When they finally reach the end of the tracks, they both run into a tree. The two dazed by the tree, inadverently walk through the entrance. When they look up they see the tree is flourished and beautiful. Necro is hypnotized and falls into a pitfall. Leon jumps in after him. When Necro finally hits the floor, Leon hits his head. "Leon, watch where you're going next time." scoffs Necro. "Chimchar, chim!" says Leon.

"I was watching where I was going. I just got distracted."

"Chimchar, chim."

"What do you mean 'Like I said'? I was distracted! You could have changed your course."

"Chimchar!"

"Don't make you angry, don't make me angry!" the two squabble. Leon uses Flamewheel, as Necro puts up a Rock Shield. The ramp of the shield launches Leon up, then he comes down with the same speed. Leon releases an Ember. Necro creates another shield above him, but must use the shield that was in front of him. With that the Emver is blocked, but Leon now shoots another Ember from in front of Necro.

Necro is thrown into a plant and on the verge of being eaten. "Leon, help, help, help!" screams Necro. Leon sees his master in danger and uses Ember to burn the plant. Necro embraces his partner in a hug and apologizes for all the trouble. "Now that's over, let's find the others." the duo walk around the tree. The tree seems to be a maze to them. After going around in circles for about three hours, they quickly scream. "We can't find a way out!" and then a vine falls down in front of them. "Lucky us, now we can use the vine and go to the top. I bet the others are up there. It is obvious they aren't down here." Necro and Leon grab the vine and climb up. When they reach the top, they see that it once held a battle areana. The areana has been bashed apart and there are claw and fang marks everywhere. Leon and Necro put their detective hats on, which they just happen to find in the maze, and search for clues. They each examine fine points from the area then share their results.

"Chimchar, chim, char, chim chim."

"I agree that there was a battle and the others won it through the use of beast like powers. This makes me conclude that they also have an alter-ego like my Exodia. In other words we are all linked in someway. However, while we know they 'were' here, where are they now?" the two ponder. As they think, a small piece of light hits them in the face. The two put their heads together and go outside the tree. A red leaf falls from the tree and starts to be blown away by the wind. Leon and Necro, believeing it to be a clue to the others, follow the leaf. They each run and run after the leaf, showing no signs of stopping. They chase the leaf even when the sun goes down.

When the leaf finnal hits the ground, the two find themselves on Cinnabar Island. "Leon, how did we get all the way to an island?" "Chimchar, chim?" "So you don't either. I hope we will find the others here. However, how did we get started chasing a freakin leaf for that long. Are we on drugs?" questions Necro. As they look around for answers a flyer hits Necro in the face. "Festival of Fire, sounds like my type of think, after all Leon is a fire-type." Necro goes around and ask where to find the festival. A jester points him to the ship that is already starting to go. Necro smirks and puts Leon on his shoulder. He manipulates the ground below and creates a surfboard. He then uses his the board to follow after the ship. The chase for the ship continues..."Don't worry guys, i will help get the cat girl back!"

Age: 13

Gender: male

Appearance: my clothing is alot like the platinum male trainer. (sorry but detail for that one is hard) and my hair is the color of the male rival's in platinum but it is just *****y like goku from dragonball. I also have blue eyes and a fairly large backpack. I wear glasses that allow me to see. I also wear a green poketch on my right arm.
Personality: I am a very kind-hearted but shy. I have had bad excpiences with pokemon in the past. Primarilly the pokemon golem. I will not be afraid to be with a banned pokemon because I know it is not going to try to hurt me.

History: I was a younger brother to a trainer in Hoenn so I have some excpirence with pokemon but not much. I also have a father whom I still live with. I have been to survival training camps. I am not afraid to be out without my family but I will probably try to call my brother for advice on training.

Name: Madison Noelle Grey
Age: 16
Gender: Femme
Appearance: Madison has very pale skin, which simply doesn't tan. This would be fine, would have even looked good, if she weren't such a ginger. The bridge of her nose, all the way across under her eyes is full of freckles, although they don't spread to the rest of her face. Her face itself could be called beautifu, the freckles that decorate it are a fitting detail, the only thing subtracted from this is that she is so pale, almost deadly so when she's feeling sick. She has full lips, though not Angelina-Jolie-sized, her cheekbones are high and her olive eyes have a slight slant to them. Her light skin makes it so that she blushes easily, and these blushes are very hard to miss.
Her body is very feminine, with curves and an almost hour-glass figure, but she doesn't flaunt it. Her beauty comes from the natural feel she has, for she doesn't use cosmetics or anything. It's a natural girlishness combined with a cute modesty that make her an eye catcher, she doesn't need low cut shirts and mini-skirts for that. Her natural build is rather small, standing a modest 1.55 meters.


Her hair is almost a carrot-orange colour. You can say it has a slight 'swish' quality to it. It is borderlining thin, wavy though not yet curly, and a good 10 cm below shoulder-length. She has no real bangs, but the strands lining her face are about chin-length, and parted, with the rest of her hair, on the right side, swept to the left. The 'bangs' tend to get in her eyes a lot, but she's too lazy to cut them.
It isn't uncommon for her to brush her hair into a high pony tail, or even in two braids. She is also known to wear a yellow headband to keep the hair back.


Clothing-wise, Madison goes more for casual. She wears a baggy white woolen sweater with a round neckling that slides down her shoulders all of the time and sleeves that engulf almost her entire hands. The fingers barely escape the hungry, hungry sweater. The thing is heavenly warm, but on really warm days she takes it off to reveal a green T-shirt, one that's supposed to slide off of the shoulders. Under the upper-ware there's a pair of knee-length grey shorts, denim. She wears white all-stars underneath to complete the outfit.
Carrying her stuff is a multi-coloured bag with several pouches she sowed on herself, with bright patches of fabric. The messenger bag itself is beige, but there is more pockets than actual beige on now. Her slight OCD makes it so that she needs things incredibly organized, the multitude of pockets help her with this.


Personality: Madison is first and foremost a bit of a shy girl. She doesn't like new people, and gets embarrassed easily. She's most at ease with just her and her Pokémon. When meeting someone new, it will mostly be them trying to lead the conversation, unless she has taken a special interest and she's making an effort to get to know them. She has a strong will, so there might be times when she will force herself to be more social.
Exception to the Shyness rule apply to Pokémon, and children. She loves both very much, and is very patient with them. Children just kick up a bit of a mother's instinct in her, and so do Pokémon, in their own manner. She's gentle and believes in positive reinforcement that way.


When battling, her first concern is how much can the Pokémon take, and how is their health. But she's still a teenager, and rash decisions go with the territory. She still has a lot to learn about strategies, and even though taking risks is not in her nature, she has to learn how and when to do so. She's not easily agitated either, but when you do get her going, you get her going good.


As mentioned before, her willpower is strong, border lining pure stubbornness. You tell her she can't do something, and she won't stop until she has done it. Even though she is patient with her Pokémon, that doesn't mean that she is all that patient with other things. She makes stupid mistakes just as much as others her age, if not more. Her common sense is a bit warped sometimes, making her do things she thinks is the right thing to do, but often just makes things worse.


Her OCD is another thing. She has to have things organized, or they drive her crazy. Give her a stack of books and she has to pile them nice and straight, biggest to smallest.
Madison is definitely a girly-girl. Even though her clothing-sense won't always betray it, she does love clothing, and shoes and all that jazz. She knows to dress accordingly for a journey, but if she'd get the opportunity to dress up all nice and fancy, she wouldn't even have to think twice. She laughs a lot, giggles even more, and smiling is her natural expression. Madison carries a natural modesty and cuteness that only some teenage girls posses and she's definitely a bright light in the dark sometimes.


History: Madison is originally a Kanto-girl. She lived on Cinnabar Island for the first part of her life. When she was little she had always been obsessed with Ponyta and riding them. Her neighbors had a small herd of them and they taught little Madison how to drive them. She was the only child of a happy family, and accordingly she was the pearl in her parent's eyes. She was also crazy persistent, even as a child. If a Ponyta burned her, she would just hug it back. She has a small burn on her shoulder to show for that one.


When she was 8 she was forced to move to Johto because of her dad's career, and the fact that he could more easily get a job as a Nurse in the Goldenrod Hospital. She cried, screamed and begged to stay with her beloved ponies, but she was dragged with them nevertheless. Of course, being a child, it was all forgotten and done with in a month's time, but she still had her love for Ponytas.

The next years in Johto were very blissful. She had good grades in school, had friends, was a normal kid. Her parents kept her home for most of her life, being over-protective as many parents are. Then, as a complete surprise, her dad came back with a beautiful Ponyta for her, and her alone. You have never seen a girl spazz out.

A couple of months later came the ban on shiny Pokémon. Of course, Madison was definitely not going to give up her Epona for that. It didn't help that the horse was able to dim the heat of her fire to a minimal degree, therefore making it very similar to the shade of a normal Ponyta, though not entirely. Stubborn as Madison was, she just kept on concealing her Epona's shininess. She thought she had done a pretty decent job, until she got that letter...

Additional Information: The colour of the Ponyta's mane is really dependant on her mood. The calmer she is, the closer it is to normal colour, though she's rarely calm enough to produce a true yellow flame. Most of the time she can be calmed to an orangy flame that is easily overlook as normal, but Epona quickly snaps back to the hottest flame, which is blue and almost translucent. In battles, an orange flame is close to useless, which the translucent, blue flame is when her fire's are strongest. (Yes this is based on real flames.) Good thing Epona's a more gentler Pokémon.

"You know, whistling that tune is highly inappropriate" Helena stopped whistling the tune of Kill Bill, and spun around to see Flannery's amused smile. Helena quickly checked her watch, 12:45. The ticket said the ferry would arrive at 13:00, so whatever the Gym Leader was up to, she had to say it within 15 minutes.


"Why? I like the tune, doesn't mean I'm going to kill anyone anytime soon! Or take their eye out, I always liked that part." Helena completed the sentence with a grin and Flannery met it with a look of mock-shock.


"You're sure you want to do this?" The leader had suddenly grown serious again, taking Helena aback a bit, but she knew the answer.


"Yeah, I'm certain. Don't worry about me Flannery, I'll be fine."


"Fine, but I'm still not happy about this. Want me to tell Paris goodbye again?" Flannery asked. Helena nodded to this and with that, Flannery departed, though not without a hug. It was Helena for herself now, and she wasn't going to let anybody down. She was still full of fantasies about her great victory when the boat arrived in the port and they were all herded in like a bunch of cattle.


The boat was huge, Helena had to give it that. Multiple floors, huge crew. That Mr. Pokémon must have a hole in his very fat pocket. A man's static voice explained that the journey would take 7 hours, instead of 6, but that didn't bother Helena, she loved the sea air. The saltiness that she missed so much in Lavaridge.


"Here's your room miss," a crewmember held the door open for Helena, but she barely paid attention. It was number 9 on the second floor, that was all the info she really needed. "But…" The sailor said to Helena's back as she eagerly ran away from the room and towards wherever. She found a door that led to an open deck and eagerly took it.


"Come on out Voldy!" She released the Pokémon, who ran toward the railing, caught one sight of the water churning below, and ran back to hide behind his trainer's legs. "Don't like water, hm?" Helena asked. "Makes sense, you're a Fire type. But you have to admit the air is lovely!" Voldemort shook his head rapidly, making Helena smile. "Well, then, we'll just find somewhere else to go."


Somewhere else to go ended up being the kitchens where Helena received a sandwhich and some Pokéfood (For Voldemort of course). The food was of mediocre quality, no matter the grandeur of the ship, but it went down, and stayed down, so it was good enough for her. That was excitement, then came boredom.


The rest of the day was pretty much spent by twiddling her thumbs around the ship, trying to explore every area possible. She had run into quite some Zubat lurking into darker areas, and had run away promptly. Helena was no fan of Zubat.


Meanwhile Voldemort jumped every time the ship as much as rocked up and down. And it was a ship. It rocks quite often. More than once Helena considered just calling Paris to talk, but she didn't want to worry him or anything. She got a piece of what Paris must have felt like when he left her for his journey, it was quite lonely to stray away from that one person you've done everything with, experienced most everything with. Seriously though, they were born together, how much closer could you get?


This was when the real boredom hadn't even started yet. At first she could amuse herself with trying to find the way back to her room, which was more tricky than she had expected. Different stairs came up to different areas and whatnot. But then it was quite disappointing when she had actually found it. She settled herself on her bed, with Voldemort cowering underneath it with the first best wave. There were some books on a shelf, but they were all geographic books or history books or just plain boredom in a paper cover.


This is when Helena remember the books she packed in her bag. There was a special multicoloured pocket on the inside of her bag, made of many patches of bright fabric, that held a few of her books. Of course nothing as heavy as Harry Potter, but she had a Percy Jackson, a Darkest Powers and a Memoirs, all paperback, stuffed in there. Her room back home was almost one giant library and it had been hard to pick which book to take with her, but now she was glad to have packed them.


She started with Memoirs of a Geisha, going through the worn paperback novel with all the folds and creases in the paper, and the old coffee stain where she had first tried coffee, and then spitted it out. Memories lay within the pages of that book. "Well, it is called a Memoir," Helena giggled at her own pun, before drifting in the all too familiar story of a young Japanese girl on the long journey to become a Geisha. She didn't even notice when she drifted asleep.


She dreamt she was a Geisha, and Jasper was the very young Chairman, except without a Nobu. Jasper was this boy back home she had this major crush on. She was a teenager after all. Her hormones were allowed to act up every now and then. And Jasper was really hot. And 3 years older, but she preferred not to think about that one. That wasn't enarly as bad as 16 year old Chiyo completely in love with this 40-something dude. Not nearly.


The reason she awoke from that glorious dream? Something very, and I mean very, warm had just climbed into the bed with her, shaking while doing so. Helena awoke slowly to find Voldemort curled against her, trembling when the ship went through a little bit of rough weather.


"Honestly, Voldy, you aren't acting like the Dark Lord should. You're supposed to be fearless, loveless, and killing people as a sport. Not shaking in fear over a bit of water!" Voldemort did not like this statement. He jumped off the bed to act very offended, but another sudden lurch of the floor beneath him got him jumping right on the bed again. "Maybe I should've called you Quinn instead," Helena mumbled in reference to another of her favourite books, Gone.


It didn't take long for the waves to settle themselves again, and Helena looked at her Nav for the time. 6:54, enough time for another quick stroll before, hopefully, they would arrive un Olivine. Hopefully, because you never knew what could happen between here on the middle of the sea, and Olivine City.


By this time Helena was desperate enough to go back to the Zubat. Instead she decided to go toward the deck again, and found a Sailor lounging on his break. He noticed her, and waved her over. Naturally, she complied, Voldemort trailing behind her, looking nervously at the monster that was the sea.


"Eh, lassy, wha've ya got 'ere?" the Sailor had a tough accent to decipher, but after a few seconds Helena figured out he actually said 'Hey, girl, what have you got there.' She refrained from pointing out the obvious grammar issues and stereotype sailor accusations, instead she replied in a nice and, she hoped, educated manor.


"Just a wimp of a Chimchar and a heck of a lot of boredom."


"Well, eh, if ya fancy I coul' challenge ye to a battle. Woul' take some o' the boredom away, won' it? If ya little kit is up to it, tha' is." Another few seconds to translate Sailor-speech into human-speech later.


"Sure, why not. Prepare to beaten, tough little sailor-guy, we're not as weak as we look." She made a point of puffing her chest out to seem tougher, but it just made the Sailor laugh.


"Name's Samuel, lassy, I like yer spirit! Chopper, go at it!" He sent out a terribly tiny Machop. Helena had seen Machop before, but none were as small as this one. It seemed to try and cover it up with muscles, but that jut made him look even more disproportionate. Helena couldn't help but snort. "Ya laugh now, lass, but he can kick that tiny m'nkey's ass any day!"


"Suuuuuuuure. Voldemort, go in with scratch!" No patience, it was something Flannery had chided her for, but Helena just wanted to get in there and pawn this guys' butt so hard that he would wake up the next day without one.


Voldemort hesitantly jumped in and scratched the Machop, who let him, while focusing his energy as his trainer had just instructed him to do. It did some damage, sure, but Machop didn't really flinch.


"Chopper, go get 'em with a low kick!" with the momentum of focused energy the little Machop leaped up with incredible speed and kicked the feet right from under Voldemort, resulting in said's bum landing hard on the flooring.


"Voldy! Scratch again!" Voldemort jumped up again, but Samuel ordered another focus energy. Voldemort landed his hit, which hurt a bit more than the last time, but Chopper just retaliated with the same low kick again. Voldemort ended up being the one who drew the smaller straw, again. But a low kick was a low kick. Not a high kick, or a jump kick. A low kick. One could almost see Helena's brains at work.


"Voldemort, get to higher ground, from there on, jump down and tackle Machop's head!"


"Chopp'r, use leer and stare him d'wn like ya can!" Voldemort jumped up onto a crate, where a low kick wouldn't be able to get him, and he turned to jump on top of Chopper. Chopper thought none of that, and his eyes glowed in a creepy start that caught Voldemort off guard. He stumbled, lost his footing, and fell on his bum again, bless that monkey,


"Voldemort! Come on, we must win this! How many times have we trained balance in the gym? Right, many, many times. Try again!" Voldemort jumped back on the crate, discretely avoided Chopper's eyes, and jumped on the Machop with some nasty scratching moves. Machop cringed in pain as he was hit by the almost aerial attack that he couldn't block. But as if on cue, just as Voldemort was about to jump back out of its range again, Chopper used a low kick to this time kick the Chimchar in the gut. Voldemort was propelled backwards and landed in a crate.


"Told ya size ain't matters. Chopper's got this one all right. Finish it off with a leer as soon as he looks up, and then kick 'im."


'Ehm. Eeehm. Eeeeeehm. Eeeeeeeeeeeeehm,' Helena was going down the list of what moves Voldemort knew. Right! He knew leer too! "Voldemort, prove your true Dark Lordism, and use leer back! Lord Voldemort should know how to stare a tiny Machop down!" Voldemort immediately jumped up, a glimmer in his eyes as he stared menacingly at the Machop. A stare-battle of a few seconds ensued, won by Voldemort.


"Finish it with a killed Ava- eegm, scratch!" Voldemort leaped up at the flinched Machop and scratched it with all he was worth, resulting in a KO. At the same moment Oliving city came in view behind Samuel.


"Look!" She exclaimed, pointing at the steadily growing view of the port. "We're here!"


"Got that right, lassy. Guess yer not as bad as I thought ye were. I'm needed below deck now, have a great voyage!"

Name: Benjamin (Ben) Charles

Gender: Male

Appearance: Ben stands at 6 feet tall, with a slender build. Ben has a slight tan which stays with him all year round, giving him an athletic look. Ben has medium length brown hair with a long fringe which he pushes across his forehead, obscuring the left side of his face. Ben is very particular about his hair, going mad if anyone ruins his style, causing many people to consider him vain. Ben usually wears dark, skinny jeans and a black zip-up cardigan which he wears half zipped up over the top of a plain white tee shirt.

Personality: Ben is fiercely loyal and will do anything and everything in his power to help his friends, and his pokémon. He rarely cares about what anyone who isn't a close friend thinks of him, and often ignores people that are rude to him when they meet. This can cause people to become very annoyed with Ben, and consider him arrogant. Ben also has a habit of being very sarcastic with people, which has been known to cause some unwanted tension; particularly with people he has just met.

History: As a young man, Ben had decided against the idea of becoming a pokémon trainer. His father had been a top trainer and travelled all across the world, leaving Ben and his mother for long periods with only intermittent contact. Ben had seen how worried his mother had been whenever his father was away, and couldn't put her through it again by going on his own adventure. The only pokémon Ben had ever owned was a young Charmander, which he hatched from an egg. His father had given the egg (which had come from his award winning Charizard) to Ben as a present for his 18th birthday, a gift Ben treasured due to the rareness of both Charmander's and of shiny pokémon. Now Ben is running to try and protect his fathers gift...

Here is my completed SU. If anything is problematic, I'll fix it tommorrow. There is some Team Rocketness in the SU, but since his father is dead and Team Rocket don't know about the pokemon, I don't think it would be a problem. If it is a problem for you then I'll redo my SU. I think everything on my SU should be satisfactory, the only thing I might be worried about is that I kinda rusher the personallity cause I'm running low on time >.<

Name: Leonardo "Leo" Kaipo

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Appearance: He stands at a medium height of five feet and seven inches. He is more on the lean side, but not necessarily "skin and bones" and he lacks a definite muscle tone in his chest. Leo dyes his normally black hair blue because he feels that it gives him more character, is more artistic, and matches his icy hazel eyes. Having lived relatively close to Mt. Mortar, the Lake of Rage at the top of route 43, and the Ice Caves, Leo has hiked often and so has developed firm legs and arms. His usual atmosphere has influenced his wardrobe greatly. Leo has become use to the cold and wears a gray hoodie with khaki shorts and a pair of flip-flops during most temperatures. In hotter conditions he may wear a sleeveless t-shirt.

Personality: Leo has always been carefree and humorous. He is the type of person who can never be serious and often pulls pranks on others. His personal motto is to live with joy not sorrow and so often disguises his sorrow with laughter. Leo also enjoys acting and impersonating others. He never lives in the past and always avoids what brings painful memories. He has a short attention span, but tends to pick up random facts and calls it "trivia". He has sharp memory for people and his random facts, but forgets the majority of the other things.

History: His parents were ex-team rocket members who were involved in the Lake of Rage and Mahogany Town heists. They decided to quit Team Rocket to rear a child and because they had found Team Rocket to be completely adulterated. Mahogany Town harbored much nostalgia for the pair because of their mission there and the "souvenirs" they had kept from Team Rocket, so they decided to settle in Mahogany Town. As plan Leonardo was born shortly after they moved into a modest building. They named him after a certain European artist, wishing that he be as creative and spontaneous as an artist. He grew up in stable and modest conditions for most of his childhood, however, when he was ten his father was forced to rejoin Team Rocket. Unknown to Leo was that his parents were struggling in to find work in such a small town and his father had lost his job again. From then on Leo rarely ever saw his father and he relied solely on his mother. His mother now lived with constant stress and worry about both her husband and maintaining the household. She eventually fell ill and Leo never took care of her because she didn't want to burden him. His mother then died when he was seventeen and he had blamed it all on himself. He then decided to leave Mahogany Town with his father's secret pokemon and not knowing that his father had died working for Team Rocket. Is currently staying close to Violet City.

Nickname: Marie (Named after his mother. Pronounced similar to Mary)

Gender: Female

Moves: Headbutt, Bite, Icy Wind, Double Team

Additional Information: Marie is similar to the shiny Snorunt, but the inner black part is white. She was a pokemon received by her father via pretending to be a pokemon league official and Leo took her with him as he set out. She was kept in their apartment.
