Shiny Dungeon

Just a thought on how to make getting shinies easier. I know some people do, but I do not have 100's of hours to devote to getting the one shiny pokemon I really want (Charizard).

I was thinking about the anime, and remembered an old episode about a Shiny island, where they had berries that would turn pokemon shiny (or something). But, something as simple as feeding your pokemon a berry isn't fun. So, I thought, what about a dungeon? There could be a dungeon with Ridiculously strong pokemon (matching your level) that can't be caught, all shiny. You go through the dungeon, and you're only able to take one pokemon. If you make it to the end, you fight a single pokemon that will give yours a challenge (Pre-determined) that will match your pokemon's level (No coming back level 100 to make it easier), but have super high stats (For it's level). And if you beat the pokemon, your pokemon drinks from a magic water source or something, and turns Shiny!

How's that sound? Would you want to see that in a game?

    Not shiny, but pink.

Your idea sounds like it would be good to do once, maybe tied to a game's storyline, but I don't think getting a shiny should be a sure, repeatable event.
I'd rather they just change the odds to something more modest like 1 in 1000.

Shiny Pokémon are only valued because they are so rare, and so difficult to find in the wild. People like to brag and 'show off' their shinies, similar to medals, ribbons and trophies. So if your idea was implemented, there would be no actual reason to have a shiny Pokémon. :\

Although, a suggestion I'd make to your idea would be the same as Cassino's - make Shiny Pokémon slightly easier to find. Although there is already the MMethod which lowers the chance to ~1000 anyway.

I'm not a hardcore player like some. I don't really trade with others except for a more complete pokedex, or go egg breeding crazy (Poor ditto...). I've played through various pokemon games (Ones that included shinies) for a total of 10 seperate playthroughs, and haven't seen a single shiny (Excluding a gloom I found in an abandoned LeafGreen, and the shiny dog event). Shinies shouldn't be this difficult to obtain (Without websites for trading them around). Most ribbons are either for events, or you can train your pokemon to EARN the ribbons. Like you earn your badges, the Elite Four Champion title, legendary pokemon you catch, etc. A Shiny dungeon like this would be like a final gym, designed specifically for your main pokemon to make sure he's/she's at the top of his/her game, and that you are too. If you don't got your EV's right, or your moves, then you won't win. Because I'd feel so much better about winning a Shiny, earning it, than raping ditto or resetting in front of a legendary 8000 times.

Sounds okay, but that would suck if I wanted to take Petilil to become a shiny, and obviously, Petilil isn't the world's strongest Pokemon. ;( Wouldn't mind a place like this though, but only a one time thing.

    Sorry, forgot this piece.

When you go in, you fight someone at your evolution level. A torchic may fight a wingul, a wartortle may fight a dragonair, a charizard a tyranitar. Your little petilil may be... little, but it would fight an appropriate match, something else small and first formed.

And it would be an optional cave. like... one of the many optional caves within pokemon games. You could go just to get your one shiny and be done, or tackle it with your whole squad of EV'd up, competitive battling pokemon, or ignore it all together. It would give you something worthwile in-game to do with your 100+ hours of EV training and Ditto raping. Because I beat everything in every game up to White before I even knew what an EV was, or had a clue people actually had forums devoted to competitive battling.
