Hi all. I'd like to get a legitimate shiny Litten to get rolling in Alola. I've been trying the soft reset method for about 3 days now with no luck. Is this my only option to get a shiny Litten or there something I can do later in the game to obtain one through breeding somehow? I haven't played Pokémon since Yellow so breeding is somewhat of a new concept to me, especially when trying to get a shiny specifically.

    Thanks for any help.

You can get a shiny Litten via breeding, and there's ways to increase your chances to get one from it.

If you complete the regional PokeDex, you'll get an item called the Shiny Charm, which increases your chances of encountering a shiny Pokemon, and this includes hatching eggs. You can also further increase your chances by using what is called the "Masuda Method". Basically all you have to do is breed with parents that were obtained in different countries (so like, say, breeding a Litten obtained by someone whose 3DS is registered to the USA with a Ditto obtained by someone whose 3DS is registered to Spain). It's a very commonly done thing.
