What exactly is special about them. I'm playing right now and I am fighting a shiny Steelix.

Well dude, just catch it, theres nothing different between a regular and shiny, but shinys are rare, so if i were you, i would catch it, Trainers around the world with trade almost anything for a shiny.

I messed up. I did ingrain with my Roselia so I couldn't switch out and he wouldn't kill me since I kept gaining health. I wasn't able to paralyze him or put him to sleep so I couldn't catch him. Darn!

um....you dont have to paralyze or put pokemon to sleep to catch them, it just makes it easyer, it is possible to catch a pokemon without a status condition and be at full heath!

ya, of course, steelix is just hard to catch. Was throwing ultra balls at him as I was using leech seed. He just keep escaping. :(

you should of used a masterball, thats the only real reason why you get one in the game, legendaries are easy to catch with dusk/ultra balls.

I wouldn't waste my master ball on a shiny. I have three that I've caught with ultra and pokeballs...the master ball is not necessary.

I saw a Shiny Onix in LeafGreen once. Too bad I was out of PokeBalls!
