3. Okay, so if your Pokemon doesn't want to evolve, and it is liable to attack you, you wouldn't want to force it. Plus, Pikachu's his FRIEND. NAKAMA. Ash respects him as a friend.
4. Pikachu stored too much electricity when it was using Quick Attack.

6. This is aimed for kids. Fanbases created the shipping crap for the anime. Blame the fanbase.
7. Croagunk goes easy on Brock and doesn't use full power.
8. Dude. They're legendaries. It's not the games, where they stay in a cave/room just to let you catch it.
And don't get me started with the movies. The movies are like a spin-off of the anime and has nothing to do with the anime. That's why Ash isn't gonna catch a legendary. FOREVER.
I know that Ash can beat a legendary. But, Ash and his travelling companions care about the well-being of all pokemon to want to keep a beautiful and unique pokemon to themselves. They all acknowledge they should be free because they are so rare. I'm sure if a rare pokemon wanted to join the team, like Ash's Squirtle did, it would do. But that's the only possibility. All of the pokemon they capture, they feel they could benefit, either by helping they grow stronger, achieveing a dream (like Lapras to be reunited with it's family), or to care for it as it's unable to look after itself (like Togepi and Snorlax). I guess the only benefit Ash and his friends could offer a legendary pokemon is protection. *copied from somewhere, but my sentiments exactly*
And Arceus is the ALPHA Pokemon. Alpha means start.
The series will end if an Omega (which means end) Pokemon is created, and this indicates that Pokemon is over.
