Shipping Discussions New 2019

    So, the the previously most recent thread seems to have gotten closed. I can't find any reason why, and I can't see anything against the rules about having a shipping thread, so here is my attempt to revive it.

    I'll be honest, I haven't watched the Pokemon anime in years, so my knowledge tops out at about the Diamond and Pearl days. Nevermind that, though. I'm sure there will be some others interested in the discussion who have more contemporary knowledge.

    I know I have Palletshipping support in by signature, and I guess that's still my favorite "normal" (yes, it's honestly very normal by my standards) shipping by default, but I've moved on to newer and weirder pastures. So weird in act, I could see discussing them not being welcome here. However, because I don't see any rules specifically against it, I will do so for now. I'll be glad to stop talking about them if the admins inform me that they are against their interpretations of the rules, though.

    What I'm talking about is Pokemon/human shipping. Before you all run away and accuse me of doing rude things with dogs keep in mind that in the anime at least, Pokemon are established to be intellectual equals with humans. Some can even communicate directly with humans, the most notable ones I can think of at the moment are Mewtwo, Team Rocket's Meowth, and Sir Aaron's Lucario. Those that are able to speak to humans have been able to translate for those who cannot, thus confirming that they;re all intellectually equal with humans, and thus should be considered able to enter romantic relationships with them.

    The specific shippings in that category I like are Pikashipping (Ash/his Pikachu), Aurashipping (Sir Aarom/ his Lucario), and Blueshipping (TR James/ TR Meowth). Because these pairings are so rare and unsual, they might share their names with other more conventional shippings, but when I use those terms, those shippings are what I mean.

    Of course, this thread is for all shipping discussion, het or slash, normal or weird. I just think it doesn't really make much sense to start a shipping thread without telling you guys what shippings I like.
     
    My shipping vibes have been killed by Sun and Moon but I'm still sticking to Amourshipping with Advanceshipping at second place.
     
    Personally, I haven't really watched the anime in years, so most of my shipping knowledge is extremely outdated. However, there's no harm in keeping older canon at the forefront of discussion.
     
    When I ship the characters in Pokémon it's in a very like... "aw they'd be cute together" rather than getting properly seriously invested in it. They're all so young, it's a bit weird for me to envision them in a romantic context. Even when I do speculate on actual relationships between the characters, I'm always thinking of them as they would be if they were five or so years older than they are. we're not gonna talk about the fact that i've named two ships it's not relevant to anything here nope

    That in mind, CaféMochaShipping :) I just think they're sweet. And BestWishesShipping is cute too!

    I mean, Ash is 10, but he's also been 10 for bout 20 years. I not sure age really has much relevance when talking about the Pokemon anime specifically, or really any long-running anime or cartoon.

    Also, as you can see by my introduction post, I ship a lot of side-characters who tend to be "older."
     
    I mean yeah that's all well and good, I'm just sayin' that as someone way out of that preteen/teen age range, I feel weird about imagining their relationships in that way. Ash may've been 10 for 20yrs but that don't mean he's not still 10.
     
    I feel so torn, I've always had Pokemon ships that I like, but because of the ages of the main kids, I've always just kinda shipped them like.... "MAN, I want Ash and Serena to HOLD HANDS :')" lol or Drew gave May a rose, and I heckin lost it.

    As for the older characters, like Steven, etc, that's fair game for fanfics IMO.

    I ship almost nothing romantically in PokeAni, mostly because it is a show with kids. However, I suppose you can say that I ship Ash with almost everyone platonically because I adore his friendship with his friends and rivals and such.

    Romantically I'd say the only two I ship together are Drew x May. Watching their relationship develop throughout AG was honestly my favorite parts of it. And I def see them together when they're older.
     
    Yeah, my thoughts are a bit different, but considering the fact that the main ships I support are Pokemon/human, that's hardly surprising.
