Shooting in Munich

9 people are said to be dead after a shooting in a mall. Witnesses say at least 3 people armed with guns were seen, but police have since said there was one shooter who is believed to have shot himself. No other suspects are known to exist.

It's so terrible that we are hearing about shootings and terrorist attacks so often in the news lately, and this came not too long after that recent attack in Nice, and the various police shootings in the US. The shooting apparently broke out at a McDonald's restaurant in Munich's Olympia shopping center which came at a time where the facility was packed with shoppers.

It was reported the gunman had no connections to terrorist groups, and was a dual German-Israeli citizen. He had recently suffered depression and undergone psychiatric treatment prior to this attack.

The investigators have likened his activities to that of Anders Breivik who was the man behind the 2011 Oslo bombings and Utoya Island shooting in Norway.
