    Welllllll?

EV training and IV breeding have become very popular now (Online anyway). My question to you is if they should be more visible now, since quite a few people are using hidden mechanics or at least are aware of them.

Colored stats showing what stats the nature has lowered and heightened in HGSS are a good start, so is the Hidden Power Man.

I personally think IVs should just be another page on the summary screen or just thrown away all together, I also think EVs should be tweaked a little.

Gen V should have a skill point system. Every Pokemon you battle gives you 1-3 skill points/EVs, and you can allocate them to any state you want, and you could also see how many points have already been applied to each stat. The 255 per stat and 510 overall caps would still exist.

This could make hidden mechanics a bit more accessible to everyone.

I actually like the idea of turning the EV system into a skill point system like in so many MMORPGs I've played. It would make the concept more accessible to newer players. :D

IVs on the other hand, should stay hidden. The whole point of IVs is to seemingly randomize a pokemon's stats in comparison to others of its species and displaying them would encourage you to release any pokemon you catch with low IVs across the board. I do like the subtle hints like in D/P where the pokemon's displayed trait like, "likes to run around a lot" is reflective of their highest IV value. :D

One must think about Pokemon's audience. It is geared toward the younger crowd. If I was a little kid and had to keep track of these "EVs", the game would be much less fun for me. I say let those who care about EVs, IVs, and such, be the ones to care about EVs, IVs, and such. No need to force it upon everyone. The game would become a grind then.

    Also, misleading poll is misleading.

Yes! And I hope they make this happen in gen 5!

Even if they were only to represent it in a hexagon spread diagram like the pentagon spread diagram for contest sheen etc.

I think if the one's who don't get EVs want to ignore it it wouldn't be too hard.

After all I've managed to ignore contest stats all this time!

I always manage to screw something up in my topics, I wish I could edit it. >_<

I see what you mean. I don't think the skill points would have to be that big of a factor. There could be a "random" or "balance" option to just have the game allocate the points itself. You wouldn't have to allocate them right away, you could do it via the summary screen. It wouldn't be that hard to understand anyways.

    Generic Prof:
"If you want your Pokemon to have high attack, give it points in attack!"

Pokemon's complicated enough on it's own.Leave it that way.EVs and IVs should stay on the internet

What about the visibility of the stat effects from natures in HGSS? It's not like it's going to grind the gears of younger players. They would probably just ignore it. I don't know many young players who look avidly at their Pokemons' stats.

In other words yes, I would love if IVs/EVs were more accessible to viewing so I can get a better gist of the Pokemon I catch.

Good point. When I was younger, I just cared about levels....

I'd like that idea, it would make it easier for people who are a bit confused about it as long as they added in a help section for the newer players.
Also I'd like it instead of certain Pokemon giving you certain EV's you just get general EV points from levelling up that you can then put in any stat you want.
