So, I've had a few people (here and elsewhere) ask me a bunch of questions over the last couple weeks about the technical aspects of creating Let's Play videos, like my ones in the PC Minecraft thread or in the Let's Play subforum. I've also had a couple people tell me that they were inspired to start a Youtube channel. Although that certainly makes me feel all warm and tingly inside, it also makes me wonder... If I wrote a guide about creating gaming videos and managing a Youtube channel, would there be interest in it? It's not something I could just write up in a few minutes, so I want to know if anyone would actually want to read it before I take the time.

Also, I know there is already a guide posted by Dragon in the "Let's Play Guides, and Reviews Rules & Guidelines" thread (if you knew it was there). Although it is definitely an in-depth and great starting guide, there are a couple points that I might disagree with. It also doesn't really cover how to manage a Youtube channel at all; it focuses only on the creation of Let's Plays (which is fine, because it's not meant to be a guide about Youtube).

If I were to create a guide, it would cover:
    • About gaming videos
    • What you need to get started (and the best free/budget options)
    • How to make high-quality videos
    • How to make high-quality commentary
    • The 3 P's of Youtube Channel Success
    • Putting it all together

Would this be something anyone would actually read and take a legitimate interest in? Or would I simply be wasting my time?

Personally, I welcome any videos of this sort from you. I think there is a good deal of knowledge to be imparted and I would love to create LPs and YouTube videos at some point.

So you have my stamp of approval - but I will move this over to the LP section since it's more relevant there than the main subforum. :)
