I'm planning to make a team, and for a long time I've thought of using Manectric, but recently I thought that maybe Ampharos could work better. My thoughts were that Manectric is great with speed moreso, but Ampharos' Sp.Attack and Sp.Defense could help to balance out this team a bit moe... I'll list the Pokemon on the team, and some moves I was considering (Nature and EVs I won't include just because it's not a whole team rating really), just for you to see how whichever one would balance out with them. Feel free to give advice on the rest of the team's moves and stuff too, but mainly I'd like to know if I should fit in a Manectric or Ampharos for my Electric Type...

note-the marks separating pairs of Pokemon show that those two do Double Battles together (this I analyzed with moves and type combinations to see which would seem to work best).

    Espeon
    -Psychic
    -Shadow Ball
    -Morning Sun
    -???

    Breloom
    -Mach Punch
    -Stun Spore
    -Dynamicpunch
    -Mind Reader
(I would have done the Spore/Focus Punch, but decided I'd rather not.)

    Arcanine
    -Flamethrower
    -Bite (maybe)

    Umbreon

    -Moonlight

    Floatzel

    -Brine
    -???

Well, neither are very good. Since you're using Umbreon, I'm assuming that this is an OU team, so why can't you put Electivire in?

    Electivire@ Expert Belt/Life Orb
    Adamant/Lonely
    252 Atk/ 252 Spd/ 6 HP OR 252 Atk / 176 Spd / 80 SpA
    -Earthquake
    -Cross Chop/Low Kick
    -Ice Punch
    -Thunderbolt/Thunderpunch

Also, Rain Dance+Thunderbolt is a bad combo. 120 damage over two turns= 60 damage per turn, if you aren't killed on the first. Thunderbolt is better, since you can get 95 damage per turn, so use that.

out of those 2 amphy is bettr, but there are always a better choice *cough*eletrivire*Cough*, but yeah i'm currently useing on euntil my vire is done and it saved my bu tin a barrle today

    Thanks for the tips.
The main thing with this team was using favorites, and I never knew Manectric could learn Flamethrower or Overheat... That'll help with Double Battles if I decide to use it. Still, I'll wait to see what some more people think. I may use Electivire, but still, just because of how I'm making this team with faves (and it's not going to be in too many competitive battles as far as I know), I'm more likely to pick one of the other two (or Jolteon).
As I said, I'll wait a bit, but thanks everyone so far.

Ah, a team of favorites. In that case, I'd lean toward Ampharos, as your team could definitely use some defensive power backing it. While Ampharos doesn't have much in the way of a good moveset, his stats are good enough for him to warrant consideration.

Oh, man, why do you even need to ask? Ampharos can learn Power Gem and Signal Beam, I mean... why would you even need to ponder this? Manectric has serious issues.

So? Manectric can learn Flamethrower. Manectric has pretty good Speed and SpAtk, making him a better sweeper than Ampharos. Amphy has good Defense, HP, and SpAtk, making him a good tank. It really depends on what your team really needs.

    Manectric@Choice Specs
    Trait: Static
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 252 Special Attack / 252 Speed / 4 HP
    - Overheat
    - Thunderbolt
    - Hidden Power Ice
    - Flamethrower

    SpecsMence #2 xD

If you used the non-CSpecs set, then you could squeeze in a physical move.

REALLY Penguinpal 2 fire moves? Thats a nonononononono. I would actually almost say replace flmathrower or Overheat for SWIFT which is very bad for me, but still...

Thanks to everyone who's posted now as well. Still can't decide, but if I do use Manectric, I'm definately going with Flamethrower or Overheat, (can't decide on that either... lol) since in a Double Battle (which I've sort of designed the team to work best in) it'll need to help Floatzel beat Grass Types. That's my plan for it, but still, I can't figure out which Pokemon to use, so...

Ampharos can thrash Grass types with Signal Beam.

I know about the Signal Beam thing, that's just if I use Manectric. I have a way to do it with either Pokemon. And, that does give me the idea to look into how many Pokemon Signal Beam will actually work really well with; but I'm not sure if Grass/Poison is weak or just normal to Bug... That rose a good point and idea.

As for which Pokemon I'm going to use, I'm leaning more toward Ampharos now, just because it's fun to use, and I can come up with some useful stratagies with it.

Bug also helps against Dark and Psychic, two overused types.

No! Absolutely not! You're sacrificing versatility for tanking! Not acceptable!
