4th Gen Should you be able to name your "Pseudo Rivals"

I don't care because I'm not good at picking name to someone. That's why I always pick up name that's already in game. Only thing that I name in games is hero (and he's named Late).

In GSC, it made sense to name the red haired guy, because you told the police officer what his name was. In Kanto and Sinnoh, they just asked you "oh what was his name again?" Even though it didn't make sense for a grandfather to forget his grandson's name, at least in Sinnoh, Rowan didn't know who Barry was. In RSE, you couldn't even name your rivals.

I just don't want Gold to be named "Soul" if I play as the girl. I want my pseudo-rivals to have a normal name if I can't name them.

The more characters we get to name the better. XD

The whole thing about Oak is him being a damn annoying person for only thinking about Pokemon. He could forget his wife (if he still has one) as well.

Perhaps the awesome thing about NOT being able to name the support character is finding out their actual name. D;

Not very interested in it. But it would have been okay.
Its also coz I am really bad at picking good names.

I want my pseudo-rivals to have a normal name if I can't name them.

I think that they won't be just soul or gold. They will have normal names and I think that I will be happy with them.

I'm really lazy and would just give them their default names (Except me, I'm gonna name myself something like MASTER so when they say something it'll be funny like for example "You are going on a wonderful adventure to become the number one pokemon trainer, and don't forget to have fun MASTER")

It doesn't really matter too much to me- after all, I'm not playing as that character and they're only on screen for a handful of minutes, if that. I'm content with naming myself and my rival. ^_^

I don't really mind it find it hard enough to name my rival :S

I would prefer it if I name my rival in the new games. I don't have a particular reason - I just prefer that since I get the feeling of personalisation if I am given that option.

I thought I hear that they already named Soul something, In one of Hiroshi's post. Anyway naming them is no big deal as there name is lucky to be mentioned more than 30 times.

I think you can name your rival in this game. I hope you can, because I was annoyed in Pokemon DPPt when you had to leave your rival's name alone. Lucas and Dawn? Pfft...

For Barry, I named him Tyson because I thought he just looked like a Tyson.
But after watching an episode of Pokemon, they called him Barry. So I restarted my game and named him Barry! (:

and for that reason, I wouldnt want to name them. It will be fun to see what her name is.
