    Chapter 1: The First Leg of a Journey, almost.

    "Hitomi, wake up." Hitomi's mother said quietly as she opened her daughter's grey curtains, letting the blinding, bright sunlight through. "Time to go choose your Pokemon."

    "Mom...." The girl in bed protested as she lifted her head. "How many times do I have to tell you?"

    "Please, darling." Hitomi's mother gave her a sad look. "Your father and I want to talk to you downstairs."

    "...." Hitomi stared for a minute, finger-combing some of her jet black hair away from her eyes. Finally, she sighed. "Okay..."

    Her mother nodded silently before leaving her daughter's room, closing the door quietly behind her. Hitomi made her way to her closet, where she got out some random clothes and pulled them on. Hitomi knew what this talk would be about, she always knew. She had been given this talk every day for the past 2 years. She took a single glance in the body-length mirror and walked out, not even bothering to brush her teeth. She did look long enough to see what she was wearing.
    A loose, black t-shirt hung off her frame, with a red vest over that. Hitomi also wore a pare of simple, dark blue jeans. They were stained and worn from all the abuse they have been going through lately.

    "Hitomi, please sit down." Her father said quietly from the kitchen table as soon as she appeared. Her mother was sitting beside her father quietly.

    "Yes, dad." She said and slumped onto the white, wooden chair. She had one arm over the backrest and her legs crossed over each other.

    "Hitomi, you know what this talk is about, do you?" Her father asked.

    "Yeah, you've been giving me this talk for the past two years." Hitomi said in a bored tone, her grey eyes watching the family's Goldeen swim around in circles in her tank.

    "Then why don't you just listen to us and go on your Pokemon journey?" Her father asked, obviously disappointed.

    "I've told you once and I've told you a million times, I don't like Pokemon!" Hitomi protested loudly.

    "Please, Hitomi, listen to us." Her mother said sadly. "This journey is for your benefit. It's for you to learn and grow and make new friends."

    "But mom!" Hitomi whined. "I don't want to do this! Besides, I don't even have a Pokemon."

    "Professor Rowan might have some, but that's besides the point. You live on a Pokemon Breeding Center for goodness sakes! You have plenty of Pokemon to choose from!" Her father suddenly seemed angry, more so then he had ever been.

    It was true, Hitomi's parents were Pokemon Breeders and she was born and raised on the Silver Absol Breeding Ranch. But despite this, she hated Pokemon. Hitomi had no plans on going on her Pokemon Journey, nor did she ever want to go, but her parents thought otherwise.
    Hitomi worked at the hatchery barn on the ranch. She had seen almost every Pokemon in existence hatch before, and she was very knowledgeable of Pokemon in their young stages. She can identify what Pokemon are going to hatch out of an egg by just taking a glace and can effectively raise baby Pokemon.

    "No, no way I'm going on a Pokemon Journey." Hitomi said matter-of-factly, crossing her arms.

    Her mother gave her a look she had never seen before. "I know, darling, I know, but you have to. We have made arrangements for Kudo to come over and take you with him on a journey, you remember Kudo, do you?"

    "What!?" Hitomi screamed, enraged. "You're forcing me to go on this journey?"

    "We're sorry, Hitomi." Her father said. "But we have to, it's the only way. Besides, you can pick any Pokemon from the Silver Absol Pokemon Ranch, and you get to travel with Kudo. He'll come over next week to pick you up."

    Hitomi have an enraged scream before storming up the stairs and slamming her bedroom door. She flung herself onto her bed and buried her head under her pillow. Kudo wasn't her problem, in fact, he was her best friend. She hated Pokemon, period.
    Finally, after half an hour in this position, she rolled over on her back.

    ~~~~~~~
    It had been a week... The longest week of Hitomi's life. She lay on her bed with her head buried under her pillow.
    "Hitomi! Get up!" Her mother chirped as she came into the room and opened the curtains, whistling happily. "Time to open some presents."
    "No thanks." Hitomi groaned, not bothering to look up.
    "Aww, come on, darling." Hitomi's mother pulled her out of bed, standing her on her feet. "Get dressed and come downstairs."
    Hitomi sighed as her mother skipped out of the room. She slowly dressed in the same outfit she had a week ago; black t-shirt, red vest and dark blue jeans. She finally found the willpower to drag herself down the stairs and slump onto her usual chair around the kitchen table. Bother her mother and father were beaming crazily at her.
    "Congratulations, Hitomi! You're finally going!" Her father said happily.
    "Whatever...." Hitomi rolled her eyes. "Not like I had a choice anyways."
    "Here, open these." Her mother pushed a box as long as her arm in front of Hitomi's face. She also took out quite a few more boxes.
    "Alright." Hitomi said quietly and lifted the lid off the long box. Inside, all lined up in a row were six Pokeballs. They shone when the sunlight hit them. She opened another box and found a backpack and sleeping bag just in case she needed to camp out during her adventure. The third and last box was a beginner pack with antidotes, potions, burn heals and things like that. Hitomi looked through all of them, but didn't seem too pleased.
    There was a sudden knocking on the front door.
    "Oh, that must be Kudo, I'll get the door. Hitomi, can you go get the Pokemon you chose?" Her mother said as she got up and made her way to the front door.
    "I didn't pick a Pokemon yet." Hitomi said.
    "But Hitomi, you had all week." Her father said, surprised. "And we told you to go and choose before Kudo arrived."
    Hitomi sighed, rolling her eyes. "Fine, I'll go and find one."
    She pushed her chair aside and got up, heading towards the back door. She pushed it open and took a deep breath of fresh air, her eyes scanning the barns scattered across the hillside and the fields that were full of Pokemon. She didn't spare a glance at any of those Pokemon, though. Hitomi headed towards the barn she knew the best; The hatchery.
    Hitomi pushed the door to the hatchery open with one hand and strode inside. She switched on the light and immediately, it illuminated shelves and shelves of Pokemon eggs. They were all in different colours and patterns. She walked past all of the eggs on the shelves and opened up the door at the back of the room.
    As she opened the door, a chorus of Pokemon calls and cries greeted her. In this room, the baby Pokemon that just hatched stayed.
    She came in and closed the door behind her with a faint thud sound. As soon as she did, all the Pokemon cried out happily, all crowding around her. The baby Pokemon loved her, even if she didn't like Pokemon. Her eyes scanned the large room until she saw a faint flash of gold. She reached out and picked the Pokemon up.
    A golden coloured Charmander squeaked happily, instantly hanging onto Hitomi's arm. Instead of the usual orange colour, this Charmander was a beautiful yellowish gold. She didn't know why this particular Charmander was a different colour, but someone had said something about it being a Shiny.
    Hmm. Not bad. =o It actually reminds me of the fic I'm writing, but it's the total opposite.. parents don't want their kid to go on a journey, and he does anyway, and.. well, let's just say it's not pretty.
    Anyway, I do look forward to the next chapter. The shiny Charmander thing was kind of cliche; I wish she had connected to the pokemon in some other way, but that's just me. Another cliche could be "omg i hated pokemon 2 hours ago, but now i love them to death!", but, if that's what you're planning, I think you could pull it off if you try hard enough. =)
    Just one grammar issue I have, too:
    "Hitomi, please sit down," her father said quietly from the kitchen table as soon as she appeared. Her mother was sitting beside her father quietly.
    Corrections are in bold.. you always use a comma when doing what is shown above. This was everywhere, but it wasn't bad enough to where I thought I couldn't read it anymore.
    Chapter 2: The start of a journey, into the forest.
    Just as Hitomi closed the door behind her with the Charmander in her arms, Kudo came into the hatchery barn.
    "Hitomi!" Kudo cried happily, almost tackling his friend to the ground. "Long time no see! I was wondering when you would go on a Pokemon journey!"
    "I sure didn't want to, but my parents are making me." Hitomi replied.
    "Is that the Pokemon you're taking?" Kudo pointed to the oddly coloured Charmander sitting on her left foot and trying to eat her shoelace.
    "I guess so... Is there anything wrong?" Hitomi asked, picking the lizard Pokemon up under it's arms.
    "Nah, I just think it's colour is funny," Kudo nodded. "Where are your other Pokemon?"
    "This little guy is the only one," She looked around at all the different eggs in the silver room. "Do you think I should get another? You know I don't like Pokemon."
    "I dunno, lets go to your house and ask your parents. We can leave for the journey right after," Kudo nodded again, smiling and walked out of the barn with Hitomi and Charmander following.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    "So you decided to get that odd coloured Charmander?" Hitomi's mother asked as soon as the two friends walked into the door. Hitomi didn't answer, but instead looked around the living room. There were six Pokemon bouncing around.

    "Who's Pokemon are these?" Hitomi asked as she sat down at her kitchen table. Kudo sat down beside her.

    "Mine," Kudo began to point them all out. "Infernape, Skarmory, Eevee, Sneasel, and Lopunny."

    Hitomi raised an eyebrow as the Eevee, most likely the youngest of the group, bounced up to Charmander. Eevee started jumping around Charmander as if to impress it. Charmander, obviously unimpressed, jumped into Hitomi's lap and buried his head in her arms.

    "So, hunny, what do you want to talk to us about?" Hitomi's mother asked as she poured some tea for the two friends and herself. Hitomi's father must be out taking care of the Pokemon.

    Before Hitomi could utter a word, Kudo spoke up for her, "Can Hitomi have more Pokemon? I think it would be better for her to have a head start."

    "Oh, of course you can, Hitomi!" Her mother gave her a hug, nearly making her spill her tea all over her lap. "You can chose a full team of six if you want! Take some of the eggs if you wish as well. And Kudo, as a thank you present, you can take an egg as well."

    "But-" Before Hitomi could say another word, she was dragged out the door by Kudo and back into the hatchery barn.

    "So take your picks," Kudo said as they stood in the hatchery barn.

    Hitomi rolled her eyes and looked around at the shelves and shelves of eggs. It was so quiet, she nearly dropped and egg when Kudo's voice echoed loudly off the walls.

    "Hey, Hitomi, what Pokemon's in this egg?" He appeared from around the corner with an egg in his arms. It was a blue colour with a white spot in the middle There was a spiral in the white spot.

    "It's a Poliwag egg," Hitomi said, turning around to look at the shelves again. "Do you want that one?"

    "Uh... No, I don't think so. I'll keep looking," He walked off again to find another egg.

    Hitomi took a brown and white egg off the shelf and examined it. The egg was a tanish brown colour with a white top. It also had a mark on the side resembling a bone. It was a Cubone egg alright. Hitomi considered it, examining the egg over and over, debating whether she should get the Cubone egg or not.

    "Hitomi?" She nearly dropped the Cubone egg again when Kudo's voice rang through the silence. She turned with the egg in her arms to see Kudo standing there with another egg. "What's in this one?"

    "It's a Vulpix egg," Hitomi said as she saw the reddish brown egg with deeper red swirls on it.

    "Wow, I was trying to catch a Vulpix earlier. Can I get this one?" Kudo asked hopefully.

    "Yeah, sure you can." Hitomi turned back to her own egg. She decided against taking the Cubone. Hitomi put it carefully back onto the shelf and walked away. She looked around all the shelves until she came to one. It was a purple egg with white and black bands in the middle, like a Croagunk's belly had. This egg was a Croagunk. Hitomi carefully took the egg off the shelf and looked it over. It was in perfect condition, it's shell shiny and gleaming.

    "Croagunk, I guess you're coming with me," Hitomi said to the egg, not sure if the Pokemon inside could hear.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    "Oh, darling! Your father and I are so proud of you!" Hitomi's mother gave her a big hug as Hitomi and Kudo stood at the front door, about to head to the train station. The train would take them to Sandgem town where Professor Rowan stayed at his lab. They still needed to get Pokedexs and everything.
    "Be safe now, and take care of that Charmander and the eggs." Her father said as they began to walk away to the train station.
    "Dont worry, we will!" Hitomi waved back, not turning around as Charmander skipped along beside her. Her backpack was almost completely still on her back. Inside was the Croagunk egg, wrapped carefully in soft cloth so it wouldn't get damaged.
    When they were out of sight and sound of Hitomi's parents, both friends let out a sigh. Kudo immedietly let Eevee out of her Pokeball.
    "She's my favorite," He said.
    "What do you want to evolve her into?" Hitomi asked, looking at the brown and white Pokemon jump up to her Charmander. Eevee rubbed up against the lizard Pokemon and hopped around happily, Charmander simply ignored the other Pokemon.
    "I wanted to evolve Eevee into a Flareon before, but now that I have Vulpix... I'm just unsure."
    "I see. It's not that important anyways," Hitomi looked around for a moment before asking, "Where are we?"
    "Huh?" Kudo stopped and looked around as well. "Oh great, we're lost."
    "Okay... Let's go that way," Hitomi pointed to her right and began to walk in that direction. Kudo hesitated, but followed anyways. They walked into a forest, staying on a small path barely wide enough to fit Kudo and Hitomi.
    Kudo recalled his Eevee back into her Pokeball and Hitomi put Charmander back in his.
    "Oh man, it's getting dark," Hitomi said once they have walked for about fifteen minutes. They were no longer on the path, it had either faded out or they had gone off the path and hadn't noticed. It was almost too dark to see.
    "Infernape! Light the path!" Kudo suddenly yelled, tossing one of his Pokeballs into the air. There was a flash of white and then a large monkey Pokemon, about one and a half meters tall, appeared. Infernape seemed really healthy, it's crown of fire lit up the forest enough so that the two trainers could see. The Pokemon walked in front of the two trainers as they walked deeper and deeper into the forest.
    Hitomi heard a noise and looked to her left, but saw nothing. Then the light from Infernape seemed to disappear.
    "Hey, Kudo, can you turn the light her for a second." Hitomi called, still looking at the place she had heard the noise from. When she saw no difference in the lighting, she turned and saw only the dark.
    "Kudo?" She called out loudly, but there was no reply. "Kudo? Where the heck are you?" Still no answer. Meanwhile, quite a distance away, Kudo was searching frantically for his friend.
