Signature images - Newb question

I'm a newb, sorry. Will someone kindly give me a link to the latest signature rules. I've read about image size limits, but my user CP will only allow 500 by 100 pixels with a 19.5 kB size limit. I know there's something I'm missing but can't find it. I have looked at the rules and FAQ.

Isn't the limit 500 x 300? I thought it was.

You just have to use a free photo hosting site to host your pictures.
The 'Upload Signature Picture' is the one causing problems~

Well...I tried a number of different things and am still stuck with the size limits as stated in my first post. Does anyone know if this a post count related issue? Again, if anyone knows, would you please give me the link to the rule that states it?

Have you tried uploading your picture(s) to an off-site place (photobucket, imageshack, anything similar), and then hotlinking to them using [img] tags? The sig picture uploader won't go past 500x100/19.5 KB no matter what's tried or how many posts you have, so to get anything bigger you need to link to pictures uploaded elsewhere.
