I have two silver versions (mine and my brother's old one) and I want to trade a graveler from his to mine so I can get a golem. (Along with some other trade exclusive pokes) Here's the problem: When I go to the pokemon center and to the trade lady, only one of the gameboys will register the link cable. (The white end) And when I turn the cable around, the opposite system picks up the connection, but not the other. I bought a "new" cable and it did the same thing. I also tried using different gameboys, but again, the same thing happened. So it has to be the game. Does anyone know what to do?

Well, what kind of Game Boys are you using? If you're using Advance, then it won't work. :/ Color is probably then only one that will work for Silver.

From the way you've put this, I think you're using the right cable and system...

Actually, it probably is the cable. See, there's different types of cables. Chances are, you've been buying link cables that are for the GBA (rather than the GBC), which means it'll only register one side for a GBC game such as Silver. What you need to get is a link cable for the Gameboy Color, or a second generation cable, which you may be able to find at a used game store (such as GameStop) or online. They look similar (I've made the mistake of buying the wrong one too because of this.), but the second gen cable will be able to connect two consoles (even a pair of GBAs) and register a second gen game like Silver.

You can find a little more information on the difference here.

Hmm...-takes notes- I'll keep this in mind. ;D

I'm having a similar problem. I'm trying to trade Kadabra, Electabuzz, Graveler, Haunter, Mew, and a Moltres from my Silver through the Time Capsule to my Blue Version. Darn cable registers on the Silver side, if at all, and then the Blue Version only says "Please apply here" when it has a certain end of the cable connected, and rarely at that.

    T_T

The team will be monstrous upon its successful completion.
