Sinto VS Hoeto, A Never Ending Battle

The slow and hesitated ascension of Leon was a normal morning for him. As he sat up, he noticed Kaze was waiting for him - another normal thing for him. "Kaze, how do you get up so early?" The Dragonite simply smiled, giving the usual warm greeting to his morning. "Yeah well, we get two rookies today, you think you're up for it?" The reaction to his question blew him and his covers off of his bed - literally. "Geez, dude. I'm up, I'm up!"

As they departed his home Leon was greeted by cloudy skies. Normally this would be depressing to most, but this also meant there was plenty of wind to manipulate. Kaze was already up in the air, warming up his wings.

Perfect flying weather..

"Hey man, wait up for me!" A flick of his arm sent a gust of wind under him, launching him into the air after Kaze. "Kaze, we're going to the academy remember!" He yelled at Kaze, who must have been enjoying himself due to the odd manuevers he was pulling off. The Dragonite beckoned back towards him, as if taunting.

That little..

"Okay then, here I come!" Leon pushed both of his hands forward, pushing the wind behind him harder, which sent him flying faster. In seconds he had passed Kaze, who had expected the burst of speed, due to him keeping up with the blonde teen.

The academy was below them as they slowed down. The wind under Leon had disappeared, and he was starting to descend. Kaze caught him without needing to be told, and started to drop towards the school. "Alright, let's get down there."

As he entered the building he noticed it's inhabitants quite instantly. He wasn't too interested in them quite yet, so he beckoned Kaze towards a corner that offered a seat for Leon and a spot for Kaze to rest while the events were taking place. "Looks as if they were waiting for us." Leon said with a slight embarresed smile.

"Uh, my head..."

As Lividus got up from the floor of his personal dojo he rubbed his head. The training he had done from the night before made him faint from exhaustion once again. He then looked outside to see that it was morning, and that it was raining. He looked over to see Lacertis, who was still asleep. The training from last night had also worn him out.

"Hey, wake up!"

Lacertis quickly jumped to his feet. He was wide awake and looked to be ready for a fight.

"Calm down man. Relax and get you something to eat. I'm gonna go take a hot bath," said Lividus as he walked out of his dojo. Lacertis got up and went to what appears to be Lividus's kitchen. The Feraligatr slowly, as if he was dragging himself, went to a large chest in the corner of the room. The chest was in fact Lividus's ice chest. ((OOC: An ice chest is the early version of today's refrigerators.))He opened it to find two large fresh fish and two jars of his favorite drink, milk. He was rather surprised to see fresh fish in the ice chest. He was the only one in the house who ate fish, and he only got it on special occasions. As he started eating his fish, Lividus walked into the kitchen. He had finished getting ready for the day and was placing his Souba on its belt on his left hip.

"Surprised? I got those fish for you last night after you fell asleep."

"Fer Ferali Feral?" (Translation: What is the occasion?)

"Graduation Day is today. I will be assigned to two students today after the ceremonies as well."

"Feraligatr! Fera Ferali Fer Gatr!" (Translation: Awesome! Get some food so we can go!)

"Okay okay. Cool down," said Lividus as he went to the ice chest and took out a cool jar of water and some bread. As he ate the bread and drank the water, Lacertis finshed eating the fish as he drank one of the jars of milk. He then passed the jar to Lividus who, unlike his partner, was eating his bread rather slowly.

After several minutes, Lividus finished eating, and drank his water and the milk Lacertis offered him. As Lividus walked out the door, he grabbed his white kimono and put it on. Lacertis was delighted it was raining, and Lividus was happy as well. He liked the rain.

"Let's go big man," said Lividus as he started walking. Lacertis followed quietly, like he always does. As Lividus walked by, different villagers greeted him with smiles and "heys." Lividus was one of the most respected people in the village. Little kids liked Lividus as well, but not as much as they liked Lacertis. Lividus quickly turned around to see three kids on Lacertis's shoulders, who was enjoying the company.

"Fer Fe Fera Gatr?" (Translation: Can we keep them?") asked Lacertis, who was smiling.

"I'm afraid not Lacertis," said Lividus as he waved at the kids. He then started walking again as Lacertis put the kids down. Lacertis then waved bye to them and quickly caught up to Lividus.

Finally, Lividus and Lacertis got to the academy and went inside. Lividus was happy to see his students graduating. He had been teaching them academics and tactics, two things he specialized in. Lacertis, trying to look intimidating, let out a huge roar, which scared some of the students.

"Lacertis! Quit that," said Lividus as he took a seat that was near no one. Lacertis continued to stand as he and Lividus looked at the students.

"I sincerely hope they assign me two tough students," thought Lividus as he smiled.

"Hmph. These kids are in for a big surprise!" thought Lacertis.

"Now…" the old leader began. "The teams are as follows..."

The old man read through his list, Matt was awaiting his name to be called.

"... Team nine, will be Matt Obruere and Kaisashi Tamachi headed by Senpai Jasper."

"Oh, I'm with a girl." Matt thought. He didn't mind such a prospect, but it did intrigue him.

The Master continued down the list until he was finished.

"...And those are—" He was cut off, because someone had entered in the building.

"Am I too late?" The man asked.

Matt turned to get a better look at the person who had just walked in. He looked double his age at least, and was bulkier than him too. His curly blonde hair bounced behind him, as he approached the Master. A lot of the kids were also starring and whispering. They didn't stop until the new man yelled at them. He looked like he was ready to level a building with that face.

"I hope he isn't my Senpai." Matt thought.

The man talked briefly with the master, took the scroll, and watched his master leave. The other kids began to shuffle off looking for their respective Senpai. But Matt did not know where to go. He decided to go and ask the man, probably beyond his better judgement.

As he walked towards him, he noticed another girl doing the same thing. They arrived in front of him at the same time, but it was Matt who spoke first.

"Senpai, I am seeking Senpai Jasper." He said, bowing politely.

((I am not responsible for ANYTHING Jazz sais >> ))

When the sun had long since risen, there was probably only one person left asleep in the village. I wouldn't call it a peaceful sleep, no this particular person had consumed way too much alcohol the previous night to be having a peaceful sleep. But he was sleeping nevertheless. Up to this point that is, because at this very moment Jasper the Lille was being poked in the rib.

"F**k this, Lune, I'm not getting up for that s**t." He said groggily. Jazz was also not in a very good mood either. Part of it might be that today he'll get saddled on with a pair of unlucky brats that will make his life hell. The other part is that he was having a killer headache that could only be described by one powerful word. Hangover.

His Gardevoir, Lune, really wouldn't give up though. She lifted him up with some sort of psychic witchcraft as Jasper called it and dropped him on the floor. No really, dropped. She let him hover about an inch from the floor and then dropped him face-first on the floor. Really, some days Jasper just hated the thing. Just to spite her he kept laying there and closed his eyes as to go back to sleep. Lune did not take too kindly to that and lifted him two inches this time and then dropped him again. Jasper knew that this could go on for a while and he would have tried her, if it weren't 'helping' his headache. F**k alcohol, he would never consume another drop. Except that was a lie. Those babies would probably make him so agitated that he'd once again visit the bar. He always did anyway.

So, just to please that little witch of a Lune he got up, but as soon as he tried the hangover smashed his brain and he had to sit down again. Lune, being the witch she was didn't even help, she just floated there with a satisfied smirk on her face. Damn her, she was no use at all. Except she was and she knew it.

"Lune you little witch, HELP ME!" He snapped at her as he tried, very carefully, to sit up. Lune sighed and moved her hands beside her face. Her outline turned purple as he felt the headache go away. He didn't know what kind of magic she performed to make the alcohol go away, but she did it. And she did it often. If she hadn't he'd probably die of blood poisoning in a few years. Maybe he'd already have, he didn't really care. He had Lune to help him.

Jasper looked at the clock, it was about an hour until he had to be at the ceremony. Plenty of time for a shower and lots of procrastination. Maybe eat an apple against the alcohol breath. He brushed his teeth about five times, but Lune still told him he reeked. It was weird, being so close to a Psychic Pokémon. Whenever Lune wanted to tell him something she sent him smells or pictures or just feelings. Never words because there were two different languages. One thing was sure, without Lune he would have been permanently drunk and he would have lived at the bar. To an extend she was his conscience. A crappy one, one that dropped him to the floor. It really wasn't the worst thing she had done. She had almost poked his eyes out with a stick once…

He put on an ordinary white dress shirt with some black pants and sneakers. He did wear his belt with one Kris though, just to boast. The swirling blade snaked perfectly in the scabbard which was decorate with many different patterns. He attempted to tame his curls worthy of the snakes of Medusa, but gave up when they wouldn't cooperate. Either way he looked good anyway, who cares that his hair looked like it was permanently windswept? He wondered if Kei was already there. Probably, unless he was taking that strange bird of his for a flight. He probably was too. Jasper was the first to admit that Kei was strange. Too bad he was also his friend. Too f***ing bad. This was the hangover talking, Jazz knew it, but still. Lune might get rid of the headache, but the bad mood would still be there.

Hmm, 10 more minutes until he was expected. Damn. He had counted that his shower and breakfast would take at least an hour. Well that sucked, now he was actually going to get one time. Now way. Never. He did find a solution though. He just took a detour, Lune trailing behind him, definitely not approving of what he was doing. But whatever, she got him out of bed so she shouldn't complain! Which she didn't. she just didn't look at him or communicated at all, giving him the silent treatment. Especially since he detour meant that he picked up another glass of colorless liquor. He felt the familiar light-headedness he liked so much. Now he might be able to face the day.
When he arrived at the building they had already started, which was what he meant to do anyway.

"Am I too late?" Jasper asked with a grin on his face. His tone definitely told everyone he actually didn't care. No one could sounds as uncaring as he could. Everyone started to whisper around him, someone even pointed. He glared an made a movement as if he was gonna come and give that student a beating, but he wasn't so stupid to do that in front of the leader. So he settled for a "Shut up ya little-"

Before Jasper could finish the sentence that obviously wouldn't have ended that nicely he got interrupted by the cold voice of Master Jin. Jazz knew that the man liked him, if nothe wouldn't have dared to come in like that. He would be the first to admit he was kind of using that, but who cared? Obviously the liking didn't go as far as letting him do whatever he wanted, or he wouldn't be here right now.

Mater Jin handed him the scroll of student, but he didn't even really care. It sat unopened in his hand as Jin resumed his speech. After that Jazz handed him back the scroll and talked out of the building. He leaned against the wall outside, his students would find him. And after that they would know how unlucky they were. Jazz grinned. He had gotten another two scrolls with the student's Pokémon and one with an explanation of their first task. Jasper knew what first tasks were like, and more likely than not the brats would do the work for him.

He noticed a girl with blonde hair in a pony tail walk over to him. She had standard ninja attire and she pretty much seemed like a ditz. There's the first one. At the same time a boy with green hair and eyes walked his way. He wore a black hoodie and blue capris under it. Basically he gave the impression of an emo patch of grass in a pond. Flattering.

"Senpai, I'm seeking Senpai Jasper." He said as he bowed. Jasper took one look at the patch of grass and decided he probably came from a rich family and he seemed entirely naïve. Also, he seemed not to like Jasper. Good kid.

"I'm Jasper right here. And don't be so formal, you look like you have no balls. Guys without balls die early." He dismissed the boy without second thought and turned to the girl. "As for you, straighten up, you look like you want to disappear. Why do I get the weaklings?" Jasper seemed to be lost in a moment of self-pity before retrieving the scrolls.

"You, grass-kid, I don't wanna know exactly what you did to get this mark, but you got an A, have a scroll" He threw the scroll at the green-haired boy hoping he would catch it and turned to the girl. "You, however, were not so lucky, have fun with your C+" He threw hers one too, but luckily for her she had good reflexes and caught it.

"Thank you Senpai, I am Kaisashi," she said as she bowed, pressed her hand against the scroll and called her Chimchar.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Now for our task, let's see, fabulous, we get to nurse sick people. And with we, I mean you two. I am here to keep you alive, and I don't see sick people killing you any time soon, so I'm not needed. Unless you pick up some foreign disease of course, in that case good luck. See if I care."

The man identified himself as Jasper. Matt exhaled slowly, disappointed. He wasn't afraid of the man, he had seen worse, but he still didn't like him that much. What caught Matt off guard though, was what Jasper had to say; after all they had barely met.

"'No balls' huh and 'weak'? I'll never be a sore loser." He thought.

However awkward this meeting was, Matt decided to still keep up with his formality. For all he knew his new Senpai had some sick twisted test in mind, some kind of psychological test. Like the first one to break would be out.

"They're just words." Matt reassured himself.

Matt looked over to Kaisashi, her expression remained stern, and she continually looked at Jasper, as though for an epiphany of inspiration, yet like Matt, she too looked somewhat disappointed.

"You, grass-kid, I don't wanna know exactly what you did to get this mark, but you got an A, have a scroll" The man said. He threw the scroll towards Matt, he didn't throw it hard enough though because Matt had to lunge forward a bit to catch it. He clasped it in his hands, as his Senpai commented on his getting an 'A'. Matt didn't feel like opening it now to reveal his Pokemon.

He threw the other one towards the girl, the throw was perfect this time, and she caught it no problem. When he commented sarcastically on her C+ however, Matt twitched a little. He didn't know why. She then thanked him, touched her scroll, and out came her Chimchar, looking quizically at her.

He had now pulled out a scroll detailing what they had to do; apparently they were supposed to help the nurses at the hospital. Jasper blatantly made it clear however, that he was not coming along with him.

Both Kaisashi and Matt bowed and left the building, as soon as the door closed, Matt spoke in a quiet voice.

"He could have been a little nicer..." Matt said simply.

Kaisashi smiled at him.

"Oh, my name is Matt by the way, and you're Kaisashi right?" Matt asked.

She nodded. Matt finally got a good look at her; she seemed to be about the same height as him. But it was the mask that intrigued him the most. He knew there must be a reason as to why she wears it, but Matt wasn't going to ask that now. Matt finally decided to let out the Pokemon from its scroll, seeing he was away from Jasper now. Once he did, a Trapinch came out.

"Trapinch!" It said excitedly. Matt blinked, he had never owned his own Pokemon. But, he did at least learn from his schooling, on what to do, to battle and take care of them.

"Umm hi there." Matt finally said.

After a few minutes of silent walking, towards their destination, Kaisashi finally broke the silence.

"You know, it will probably need a name" She said, smiling at the same time.

"Oh, yeah, I guess," He finally said. "I just- I just never owned a Pokemon before, only sort of trained with them."

"That's okay, you'll get used to it in no time." As she said this, she patted her own Pokemon.

"You seem pretty quiet yourself." Matt said, watching his Pokemon walk ahead, he wasn't sure if the Pokemon knew he was his trainer.

"Yeah... I have a lot on my mind too. I just- I just want to make my family proud." She finally said, as though lifting something from her chest.

"Almost like me." Matt thought.

"And you will make them proud eventually, today is just some easier task." Matt said.

"Yeah, you're right." She said.

The finally reached the hospital, and found the secretary.

He bowed slightly, and said, "We're here from the academy to help the nurses."

"Oh oh oh, great," She smiled, and then suddenly frowned. "Where's Jazz?"

"Umm well I'm Matt and this is Kaisashi." Matt pointed out.

"Your Senpai, Jasper I mean, where is he?" She repeated in a concerned voice.

"He- he said he was busy and couldn't come." Matt lied. He didn't know why he was lying, was he already defending his crazy teacher? At the secretary's dismayed reaction, Matt figured that Jasper must be some kind of popular eye candy, or to Matt's horror, he hoped he wasn't getting in the middle of some strange adult love relationship.

Matt could feel Kaisashi's eyes on him, but didn't say anything.

"Oh well, I'll bring you to Nurse Joy [hahaha I know I had to say that], she will tell you what to do." The lady said.

They walked and began ascending some stairs their Pokemon following behind them.

OOC: I take it I can't receive my Pokemon until Game Over posts?
IC:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As Lesley took her seat in the bleachers, she withdrew one of Mara's kunai from one of her concealed bags, examining it. It was rather short, about six inches long, but Lesley nearly pricked her gloved finger when she touched the point. The blade part looked like it had just been sharpened recently, the surface recently polished. Apparently Mara came from a rich family with lots of time on their hands... The handle of the little knife was a ring of jade. Lesley had stolen four such kunai during the third part of her exam.
Well, at this rate, I'd likely have a whole arsenal of interesting weapons once I go out on various missions! she thought. I wonder if I can teach the Pokemon I get how to use them as well. Espcially these kunai. I can't throw one of these very far, after all. However...
Lesley stared at the kunai for a bit longer, and then her face brightened.
The rings on these things give me an idea that might make these kunai usable. Now, if I can make a quick stop at the marketplace on my way out...
Just as Lesley was about to examine her shuriken more closely, she heard the voice of the Master of Hoeto, making an announcement. An Arcanine sat at his side; as it locked eyes briefly with Lesley, she smiled. Arcanine was, after all, a Pokemon Lesley was quite fond of. She was curious about riding one, in particular, having heard how smoothly yet swiftly they run.
"Welcome to your new life!" the Master announced. "You are all... officially adults!"
Lesley gasped. Adults?!? How in the world does that make sense? I'm only eleven! However, in the back of her mind, she realised that that did make sense. At this point, Lesley knew in her heart that her life of levity and fun and friendship was ending; a new life of seriousness, importance, and responsibility was dawning on her. Such was the nature of becoming an adult. At first thought, Lesley did not like this idea at all; she secretly wished she could stay in Neverland and never have to grow up. Yet, something inside her knew that it was time to move forward, and it knew that it wanted to move forward into the so-called "adulthood". It was as if Lesley was standing at the edge of a sunny field, facing a forest, a playground behind her. Her spirit stood still, gazing darkly at the forest beyond. She saw the beginning of a path through the woods, but before long the path turned a corner and no longer could be seen. It seemed like Lesley had stood in this hypothetical spot for quite some time, probably since the idea of enrolling in the Ninja Academy first came to her. And perhaps the fateful day when she spied on the Academy and learned about Sinto was the day she first saw this forest her spirit was about to enter.
After that, the Master proceeded with the team assignments, reading them off a scroll a trainer handed him. It turned out that Lesley was in a team of three: two Rookies and one Expert. Her fellow Rookie was some boy named Taylor Rigs. As Taylor responded to the roll call, Lesley looked his way to see who she would be paired up with for quite a while. Taylor appeared to be a little older than her, a year perhaps. He had long brown hair, and was dressed all in black, save for a strip of red and a large kunai attached to it on his back. At first glance, he looked to be very serious, firm-minded, and attentive, and very much like a stereotypical ninja. (The black outfit? The kunai? The serious and silent nature? Very stereotypical if you ask me.) It seemed to Lesley that the two of them were like night and day, and might have a hard time working together. In fact, when Lesley answered the roll-call, Taylor glanced at her, a look that was blank and uncaring. The obnoxiously cute way in which Lesley replied "Here!", not to mention the quick wave of her outstretched hand, came across to him as rather annoying.
The Expert was Lividus Amnis, an instructor Lesley remembered and liked. Tactics was one of her favourite subjects in the Academy, because it focused more on planning and strategy than fighting. Plus, Lesley liked him as a person--he was gentle, kind, and benevolent, even as a teacher. Plus, she often saw him wandering about the village, helping random people out with things, and being generally in a good mood. His Feraligatr intimidated her a bit, but he seemed to be good-natured anyway. Still, she decided to be a little cautious around Lividus...
At that point, the Rookies were supposed to come and get their Pokemon and their missions. Lesley nearly jumped in her seat as she heard this announcement.
Ooh, what kind of Pokemon will I get? And what kind of mission?
Lesley leapt onto an empty spot in the row of bleachers in front of her. Then she continued to leap her way down, weaving around the other students, who didn't really take much notice to her as she did so, probably because she was not really looking at any of them and thus was able to use her trait. First she approached Lividus, anxious to get her Pokemon.
"Hello," she squeaked.
Ninetales: Good post. I'm not sure about your Pokemon, because technically you could bump his character along. But I would only recommend doing so to get your Pokemon and your mission. It would be a very long post, but you could make it so you get to know them. Mostly talk to the NPC really. You could have it so GameOver's character goes off to get your Pokemon/mission, so yeah. Just whatever you want, really. Don't bunny his character too much though.
Giving away two Pokemon...
Lividus turned around when he heard Lesley speak. He was rather glad she was chosen for him. She was one of his best students in tactics after all.
"Glad to see ya Lesley," said Lividus as he received a scroll from a nearby trainer.
"Fer Ferali," (Translation: Hey Lesley,) said Lacertis as he waved one of his claws at her.
"Hey," said Taylor, making his presence known to Lividus.
"Taylor... You weren't one of my best students, but you have a good head on your shoulders," said Lividus as he looked over the two rookies.
"I see alot of myself in both of these rookies. I just hope they can co-operate with each other," thought Lividus as he unraveled the scroll. The scroll had Lesley's and Taylor's grades written down.
"Lesley, you made an A overall. Great job," said Lividus as he turned to look at Taylor, "Taylor, you made a B-. Not bad yourself."
Lacertis looked at the grades and then gave two thumbs up to both of the rookies. "Feraligatr Gat!" (Translation: Awesome Guys!) said the Feraligatr excitedly.
"Now then, what Pokemon shall I give you two," said Lividus as he looked both of his students over. He then turned toTaylor and stared into his eyes. He could see it. The fiery passion, anger, and sadness in this kid's, no, adult's eyes made Lividus realize how identical he and Taylor were. He then knew what Pokemon to give to him.
"You look like someone who can handle him," said Lividus as he turned to Lesley. He then did the same to her. Lividus saw the gentleness and shyness in her eyes, but he could see a fierceness unlike anything he had ever seen before. It was there, deep down., that Lividus knew she was destined for great things.
"Like a dragon," Lividus said under his breath as he stood up.
"Follow me," said Lividus as he started walking outside, his trusty Feraligatr following him.
Several minutes later, Lividus, Taylor, and Lesley had arrived to what looked like a regular playground. This place was actually where the Pokemon for the Rookies were kept. Lividus looked around as several of the Pokemon came around him and Lacertis. He was looking for two Pokemon in particular. He turned to Lacertis and signaled to his tall partner to lean down.
"We are looking for the Charmander and the Bagon," whispered Lividus as he continued looking.
"FERAL GATR!" (Translation: FOUND THEM!) shouted Lacertis as he pointed to the walking orange lizard whose tail tip was on fire and what appeared to be a walking blue lizard with a silver helmet. The shout scared off most of the Pokemon, except the Bagon which ran to Lacertis and headbutted Lacertis's stomach. Unfortunately for the Bagon, his attack didn't hurt the powerful Feraligatr, but it did give the Bagon a rather painful headache.
"Rather bold, aren't we?" asked Lividus as he picked up the Bagon and rubbed its head. The Charmander then ran over. He was wanting to check on his best friend, but it was very evident by the way he looked Lacertis that he was scared of walking blue alligator.
"A modest Charmander? I have never heard of such a thing," said Lividus as he petted the Charmander.
"Lesley! Taylor! Come here," said Lividus as he put the Bagon down.
Lividus watched as Taylor and Lesley came up to him. He could see nervousness and anxious feelings between both of them. When they both got to him, he smiled at them both.
"Taylor, I would like for you to meet your partner, Charmander," said Lividus as he pushed the Charmander gently to Taylor.
Lividus watched as Taylor extended a hand to the Charmander. The Charmander, cautious as he was, slowly put his claw up and shaked Taylor's hand.
"It is nice to meet you," said Taylor as he petted the young Charmander, making it feel comfortable.
"Char char," said the Charmander. ((OOC:Lividus only knows what his Feraligatr is saying, so I'm going to only translate for Lacertis.))
Lividus smiled. This is one of the very few times he had seen Taylor happy. He then felt the Bagon tug at his kimono. It obviously wanted Lividus to rub his head again. Lividus, being the way he is, picked up the small dragon and continued rubbing his head.
"Lesley, meet your partner, Bagon," said Lividus as he put the dragon Pokemon in front of Lesley. "If you two want, you can give your partners names if you like," said Lividus as he looked at Taylor and Lesley. Lividus then looked at the scroll from earlier. The same scroll also had the job him and his rookies wer going to be doing today. He was rather glad to see that it was something that could become challenging at any time.
"All right," said Lividus as he cleared his throat. "We have been assigned to help the nurses over at the hospital. It is about ten minutes from here walking. Five if we run. Time to go." With that, Lividus and Lacertis started immediately running. Surprisingly, Lacertis was able to keep up with Lividus.
"This can be a good test on how fast they are," thought Lividus as he slowed down a bit to look behind him. Taylor and Charmander weren't far behind, and Lesley and Bagon were right behind him.
Game Over1375: Nice post =) Next post you guys should probably get started on the challenge so this job doesn't drag out too long ^^
-------
Post:
Shelby sighed and hung her head. I can't believe this is happening, she thought as she received two scrolls for her new Rookies. I can't believe he stuck me with a Bihar, she thought crossly to herself. Once she received the scrolls, she also just grabbed a job scroll that would depict the details of their job. Then she walked away and leaned against the wall, waiting for her two students to show up. Soon both Sahib and Choine were standing there. Chione was looking curiously at Sahib and Shelby, while Sahib was glaring at the floor. I wonder if I can just…not give him a Pokémon, Shelby thought.
"Alright, let's go. I have your Pokémon, grades, and our new job." With those words, she turned and walked out. Am I going to see if they're following? She wondered to herself. She shook her head, and decided that she wasn't. She led them outside to where it was raining in a light drizzle. Then she sat down under a tree and looked up and then. "Well, sit down," she ordered. They sat down cross legged. "Alright…so our mission is…" Shelby trailed off and opened the scroll. "Baby sitting, lovely," Shelby said loud enough so they could hear.
"We have to babysit?" Sahib snapped. "What the hell?"
"I have to agree. I can't we do something more…" Chione trailed off.
"I don't like babysitting myself much. Seeing as I'm doing it full time though…" Shelby trailed off. Sahib's eyes narrowed at her.
"We could take care of ourselves, if they'd let us," Sahib stated. Normally he was the calm and quiet type, but being around Shelby seemed to be getting his blood boiling. "So don't act like we're a burden. You took this job in the first place."
Shelby glared at him and he glared back. Chione let out an exasperated huff. Shelby blinked, realizing she was acting fairly childish. She cleared her throat and then rummaged around in her weapon's pouch for the two small scrolls along with their exam results. Soon she produced them from the pouch.
"Let's see…Chione, you received a Turtwig and your passing grade was a B," Shelby stated, reading off the paper. She handed the scroll and grade over to Chione, who took them and began to look them over. "Sahib, you got a Larvitar. You got an A too," Shelby stated grudgingly. She handed him the paper and he smirked.
"So, sensei," Sahib shot at her, "what did you pass with when you were in the academy?"
"Sahib!" Chione scolded. "That's personal." Sahib didn't even look at her. Chione sighed and crossed her arms.
"I passed with something close to a B, got it?" Shelby snapped back at him. "Now, if you want to learn how to summon your Pokémon then shut up and listen." She paused and brought out Typhlosion's scroll. "Really just bring it out, say their name, press your hand and viola. There you go," Shelby stated. She demonstrated, and soon Typhlosion was standing next to her. It glanced at the rainy day and made a face. "Well, you guys will have to practice later," Shelby stated. She looked at her watch. "We have to be there in ten minutes." So with those words, Shelby brought Typhlosion back into the scroll and then they began towards the house.
"Bay! Bay!" Lesley's new Bagon greeted, having just been placed in front of her. He jumped once, an anxious look on his face.
A Bagon?? Lesley thought as she looked down at the dragon Pokemon. As she did, she saw that he had an air of toughness about him. Perhaps he was strong and he knew it, and wasn't afraid to prove it. He seemed like he could be a good fighter, especially in close combat. Lesley knew Bagons had very hard heads, so a Headbutt from one would cause a lot of damage. They could breathe fire as well, but physical attacks were their specialty, and they were quite the opposite of fragile. For a moment, Lesley understood how much this Bagon complemented her--for Lesley was fragile and quick, while Bagon was slow and tough.
"Hmm, time for a name," Lesley said to the Bagon. "How about Helmer?"
The Bagon merely nodded, as if in agreement. As long as it wasn't a cutesy or girly-sounding name, he was apparently fine with it.
At that point, Lividus told Taylor and Lesley (Lesley saw that Taylor got a Charmander) what their first task was--it turned out that their mission was to... help the nurses out at the hospital?
What?!? Lesley thought, a bit surprised. This wasn't the kind of mission I expected... in fact, I wouldn't call it a "mission" at all! This is a job, that's what this is. What in the world was all that ninja training for then? You don't need to be a ninja to help out at a hospital! My friend Tommy used to be an assistant there, since his mum was a nurse. He never even set foot in the academy! Why in the world are the teachers making us do simple things like this?
"Erm... sensei?" Lesley asked Lividus after he read the scroll. "...Are you sure you have the right scroll? This can't be our mis..."
Lividus gave her a look that suggested he knew what he was doing. Lesley took a couple of steps back, feeling rather embarrassed.
"Alright, if you say so..." she mumbled, almost inaudibly.
At that point, Lividus and Lacertis started running towards the hospital.
"Come on Helmer, follow me!" Lesley called.
Although Lividus got a twenty-foot head start, Lesley was soon able to catch up to him--within seconds she was right behind him. The only thing that disadvantaged her in this case was the fact that Lividus had longer legs than she did. Still, people had often said that Lesley was a very fast runner. In fact, within the next minute, Lesley was running right alongside Lividus, and could probably pass him if she wanted. But she decided not to, thinking that it was best if the students follow the teacher.
Helmer, meanwhile, was trying his best to keep up with Lesley, but being rather heavy and short-legged, he quickly fell behind, even though his legs were moving at the speed of light beneath him. He leaned forward, gave more push to his legs, and within a minute he was almost able to catch up with Lividus and Lesley. But just before he could get any closer, Lacertis' tail whacked him to the side.
"Bay!"
The hard-headed dragon flew a short distance to the side, and Taylor, who was not too far behind, tripped over him. Charmander skidded to a halt beside him.
"Char! Charmander char!" he called, alerting Lacertis as to what just happened. (The translated version was: "Hey, wait up! I think someone tripped.")
Five minutes later, Lesley entered the hospital. Just before entering, she saw that Lividus had somehow fallen behind her--but she hadn't noticed since she had been so focused on her destination and the general surroundings of the school. After all, she had a habit to not look at a specific person, which was her way of practising her trait. What's more, she often found herself involuntarily using her trait while running as fast as she had been, as such a run often accompanied a getaway from a spying place or a thieving spree. So the chances were that everyone except maybe Taylor thought she had just appeared at the hospital out of thin air.
"Why, hello again, Lesley," one of the nurses greeted. This happened to be the same nurse who treated Lesley's leg wound earlier. "I take it your leg is all better?"
"It certainly feels better," Lesley answered. "I ran all the way here without any problems."
"Hm, that's funny, I didn't see you coming."
At that point, the nurse showed Lesley to the counter where the sink was and where some of the medicine cabinets were. The area around the sink looked rather untidy--gloves and bandages and pieces of random herbs were everywhere. Lesley just barely had a few seconds to look over the scene when the nurse spoke again.
"Ah, looks like Master Lividus is here. Lesley, why don't you start cleaning up the sink area over there? Gather the herbs on a towel--we won't use them, but I can help you and Taylor identify them later on."
"Okay," Lesley replied in a cheerful enough tone, but she rolled her eyes while the nurse wasn't looking. She looked at the counter and saw that the sink was full of bloody bandages, and that there was a pair of gloves nearby which had some sort of strange pus on them. The sight of the gloves disgusted Lesley to a slight degree, but fortunately there was a sink... Therefore, Lesley decided it was best to start by cleaning out the sink. After all, a clean hospital is better for the patients, because fewer germs spread. Lesley saw a trash can nearby--she looked inside it to make sure that there was a plastic bag lining it. Then she took one of the bandages from the sink (holding it by the clean part, in case the blood had some sort of infection on it) and dropped it in the trash can. After doing so, she quickly returned to the sink and gave her hands a quick wash. She repeated this process for the next minute or so, until all the bandages were gone. After that, she washed the sink out with a disinfecting soap, then rinsed it out.
This is what I used to do when the kitchen sink had bugs in it, Lesley remembered. Mosquitos, especially, carry all sorts of germs. And mosquitos like blood, so...
Carefully, Lesley lifted the pus-covered gloves and dropped them in the trash can, quickly returning to the sink afterwards.
Whew, that part's over...
To finish it off, she took a nearby rag and wiped the pus off the counter, then rinsed it off in the sink. Putting some soap on the rag, she proceeded to wipe off the counter once more. As she did so, she found a few different kinds of herbs lying on it. She recognised one such leaf as being a peppermint leaf, and its scent confirmed it. The rest, though, she had no clue about--but these she placed these on a nearby towel which she folded up and placed on the counter. Finally, she finished cleaning off the counter and drying it with a dry towel--the whole process took about two minutes.
When all was done, Lesley turned around to find another of the nurses. At that point, Taylor walked in, giving Lesley a dirty look.
"Do you realise your Bagon just tripped me?" he remarked, in a casual yet slightly threatening tone. "This isn't a race, you know."
"Oh, come on," Lesley said back, sounding exasperated. "I wasnt trying to race. Besides, we have a mission here, hello? Talk to the nurses, not me."
Moments later, Charmander came along and tugged at Lesley's trousers. Lesley looked down at the fiery lizard.
"What?"
"Mander. Char!" Charmander pointed to the door. Then he made an angry face and cupped his hands over his head. Then he pointed to the door again.
"Sorry, but I have no time for this," Lesley mentioned as she walked past Charmander, observing the patients. "This mission will be over in ten minutes anyway."
Taylor smirked as Lesley said this.
"Oh, Taylor, you're late," a nurse greeted as Taylor walked in. "Why don't you help me lift that boy over there? He just wet his bed, you see, so I want to move him to another one."
This job was simple, though Taylor held the boy as far down on the ankles as possible, so as to not get any urine on his hands. The nurse had the boy by his back and shoulders, and within a minute he was moved to a clean bed.
"This boy is a bit disoriented, so why don't you watch over him for a while?" the nurse requested. "Be sure to bring him anything he asks for, except food. I don't think he's quite ready to eat yet."
After the nurse said this, she hurried over to another bed, where a girl with a broken arm was crying.
Lesley heard the cry and headed over to her as well.
"Why don't you get something to help the pain," Lesley suggested to the nurse, "while I stay here and talk to her?"
The nurse smiled and went to get a cast and some medicine.
"How did this happen?" Lesley asked the girl.
"I... was in the fight part of my exam..." the girl sobbed, "a-a-and the girl I was up against threw a hook punch at me... I blocked it, but the punch was so powerful it broke the arm I was blocking with..."
"Are you right-handed?" Lesley asked.
The girl nodded.
"Well, it's a good thing it was your left arm that was broken, wasn't it? Now you can still punch and write and throw shuriken!"
"Yah, but people... will make fun of me..."
"That's when you spit at them and make your getaway," Lesley offered. At least that's what she did when someone made fun of her.
"I can't run... that fast..."
"Do you lean forward while you run? That usually helps. Try practising it a bit more as well, and most importantly, don't be afraid. Fear will only slow you down while running."
"Huh? I thought it makes you run faster..."
"Well, yeah, but it also makes it easier to trip and get tired, and it makes you less aware of your surroundings, and less able to turn."
Meanwhile, Charmander turned away from Lesley and sighed. The he looked at Lesley, then at Taylor, then at Lividus and Lacertis. When none of them were looking, he ran out the door and turned a corner, heading for the exit to the academy. When he got there, he found a dizzy Bagon waddling towards him.
<"Oh there you are, Helmer!"> Charmander called to him.
<"Darn that Feraligatr,"> Helmer muttered. <"And darn that Taylor. I think he just kicked me in the head...">
<"Ohhh, no wonder you're dizzy.">
<"Are Lesley and Taylor already at the hospital?"> Helmer asked, holding his head and shaking it. Then he dashed towards the hospital. <"Come on, or we're gonna be late!!">
<"Ack, wait for meeee!"> Charmander called as he ran after him.
When the two Pokemon entered the hospital, the first thing they saw was Lacertis, who quickly caught sight of them.
<"Uhhhh... I can explain..."> Charmander muttered, hiding behind Helmer a little bit. The two Pokemon explained to the Feraligatr what had happened to them.
Kaisashi and Matt had followed the secretary, left and right through several corridors. Finally they entered a break room.
"You can just drop your stuff off here while waiting for Nurse Joy, she shouldn't be that long." She said.
Kaisashi and Matt nodded.
"Oh, and you'll have to put on these scrubs." She said, handing them both a random pair of blue scrubs.
Matt looked at the size on his label and noticed it said 'x-large'.
"Hey! Mine says extra large, that's way too big!" He exclaimed.
"Well we only had one small one left, and your friend got it, as she is a girl." The secretary replied.
Matt didn't say anything, and with that the secretary left. Kaisashi and Matt moved to some change rooms to get changed, and they placed their belongings in some lockers. Matt was having trouble walking however, as he kept tripping on his pants leg.
"You know, you could try folding it up a bit." Kaisashi suggested.
Matt complied and rolled up his pant legs a bit, it seemed to work; only that now his sleeves were interfering.
Kasashi sighed. "Here let me help." She rolled up his one sleeve, allowing him to roll up the other one.
"Thanks." He said, feeling his cheeks redden.
Suddenly Nurse Joy popped in.
"Ah good, you're all ready, I've got jobs for both of you," She said quickly.
Kasashi and Matt looked up at her, wondering where they might be put to work.
"Kasashi, I want you to visit the patients on each floor, they will very much appreciate the company." The Nurse said.
Matt wasn't sure if Kasashi gave a sigh of relieve or of exasperation. Nurse Joy then turned to Matt.
"I hope you have some elbow grease in you Matt, because you'll be scrubbing bed pans." She said.
"Wait what?" Matt said. But it was too late, she was already leading Kasashi to the beginning of her duty, her Pokémon following right behind her.
A man suddenly entered the room. "You're Matt right?" And without pausing for an answer, he continued. "Lots of pans to scrub, come on."
Matt looked at his Trapinch, as though to plea with him to do something, but the Trapinch merely looked back at him curiously. Resigned, Matt followed the man, to what seemed like the basement.
As soon as they entered this area, Matt could smell the difference immediately, and had a small coughing fit. Ignoring this the man finally stopped.. "Okay, now, usually we'd have a machine to sterilize and otherwise clean the pans, unfortunately it's broken down, and they need to be cleaned." As he said this, he began rummaging through some containers; he turned around and tossed some stuff towards Matt.
Matt, not expecting it, saw the items hit the floor, picking them up, he picked up a pair of gloves, and a steel wool cloth.
"You'll wash them here," He said pointing at a giant sink with the pans already in one of the giant sinks. "You will put the clean ones in this other sink here, and you will be using this specially mixed soap, made for this kind of job."
Matt nodded though regrettably.
"You're lunch will be at 1'o clock, and I expect a fine job done." He said.
OoC: Last part will come later ;)
Ninetales: Nice post, you can continue whenever Game Over posts.
Feign: Oh wow, I'm already loving these jobs. It's rather hilarious.
As Lividus was helping one of the nurses moving a patient out of his room, he noticed that Lacertis wasn't doing anything. After he got done helping the nurse, he went to his Feraligatr, who was talking to Taylor's Charmander and Lesley's Bagon.
"What is up Lacertis?" asked Lividus as he looked at his partner.
"Feral Gat Alig Gatr!" (Translation: These two were late!)
"Really? Go easy on them Lacertis. It wasn't that long ago when you were like them. They are young," said Lividus as he took out a scroll. He then pressed his hand on it.
"Lacertis!"
That instant, Lacertis dissappeared.
"I really hate doing that to him, but he needs to take a break anyway," said Lividus as he looked up at the sun, which was soon going to set. He then put up Lacertis's scroll.
"Already time to go? Dang. You two, get your partners," said Lividus. That instant, the cries of a woman in immense pain erupted from a nearby room.
"That, isn't good. Change of plans! Get your partners to the room where that scream came from. NOW!' shouted Lividus who quickly ran to the room.
"Why does this have to happen now?"
