"The names Paul. My dinosaur power is quite fun to use. I've never really seen flight as something that was really necessary. My dino form's physical prowess makes for excellent transportation."

The girn on Ran's face, something about it intrigued Pat. It may have been the fact it made her look insane, or maybe it was a new feeling he hadn't been able to quite comprehend yet.

"Falling out oft he sky doesn't sound too fun. But, then again neither does missing the destination in a leap between buildings."

Ran chuckled. "No it doesn't. But so far I've never had to suffer a power failure while I was flying. That's a good thing and I hope it doesn't happen. My only worry is if I teleport and end up in mid air. I might not have enough energy to fly." She thought about this for a while then shrugged. "But I don't teleport very often anyway. I have to rest for a while afterwards before I can use my powers again. It's rather annoying. Short distance teleportation isn't much of a problem, just long distance." She gave a half hearted shrug then added, "So what do you think this power placement test is for anyway? Shouldn't they already know what powers we have?"

"They have to determine wether we are fit to be heros...or sidekicks. The heros get to learn to use their powers to the best of their ability for the good of mankind, while the sidekicks learn to support a hero and end up with no glory," said Paul.

Power failure...yeesh. Paul was glad he had control over his power. He felt a pain in the pit of his stomach, he felt nervous. His skin erupted in brown scales, he couldn't control it. He jerked his head, and the scales vanished.

"Thats...never happened before...I can always control when it happens..."

Ran stared at him. "What's up?" She asked with a note of concern in her voice. People didn't suddeny begin to sprout scales and then have them vanish. She was a little confused as well. If he was gonna transform why did he only begin. She had also caught a bit of skeptisism. He didn't seem to approve of power failure. But then he didn't fly. It took energy and concentration. She hoped that once she had mastered her power just a bit better it'd be second nature to her. She also sensed something else but it was just a feeling not a thought so it was more confusing to her. She ignored that and concentrated on other things instead. "Well I don't want to be a side kick. I have enough of a grasp of my power to go on my own. Well I think I do. But being a side kick would be boring. And besides, I want to learn to fully control my powers."

He always had control of his transformation...always! It was that feeling he got when he saw Ran smirk...it seemed to trigger the unwanted transformation. It was a good thing he stopped it, he didn't know what would of happened if his dinosaur form was loose with that feeling driving it.

"Being a sidekick would suck. But I'm pretty sure my dino form is impressive enough to get me into the hero classes, they'd be insane not to marvel at its power."

Leon stood in the corner of the gym, alone.
He hated the first day of school; everyone wanted to show off, everyone wanted to prove how tough they were; and Leon was sick of it.
Not that he had ever lost a fight; that was his problem, he always won.
But his oppotent would sometimes die.
Leon wasn't a murderer, the school was wonderful at understanding that; however, they couldn't teach him how to control his Orochi blood; a problem that held him back from saving the world, and pushed him into endagering it.
That was why stayed here; people wouldn't bother him as he further refined his technique; he was able to slowly gain control of his power, raise his endurance to it.
For this; he was greatful.
He only hoped there was no one egotistic enough to challenge him, and that if there was, that they weren't strong enough to push him over the edge.

Ran looked sideways at Paul. "Don't you think you're being a little over confident? What if the school thinks bigger isn't better. Perhaps they think it's more for control and dignety than size and power that makes a good hero." She paused and shrugged. "But I'm just talking like mom used to and it can be annoying. But when your parents are always off fighting you tend to have a lot of spare time on your hands." She smiled but in a different way. She was thinking of everything her mother had taught her.

Who knows. It might come in handy. But for some reason I feell nervous. Is it that boy? I'm not paying attention so I miss some things. I mustent so that any more. I can tell that he doesn't want to lose control of his powers but why would he? We're just sittin in a class room talking.....

She glanced side ways at Paul again and decided to keep her mind more focused from then on.

If I lose control...I may hurt someone...wait. This is the first time I've ever actually cared about hurting someone or not. Oh god...

Paul's skin started becoming scaly again. His fingernails became sharp claws tipping his fingers. His green eyes turned a golden color. Paul jerked his head as he did before, and the scales and claws disappeared.

"I-I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean for that to happen again."

Ran's pupils contracted. The pendant around her neck glowed brightly. She didn't have time to reply. An instant later she had vanished. She reappeared out of breath on the other side of the room. It had been a short distance and she was still winded. Panting she turned to watch Paul. The pendant around her neck was still glowing. She stood steady and waited. She had no idea if Paul could get his power back in check but something told her the results wouldn't be good. Man being psychic sucks. If something bad'd gonna happen I'm always the first to know about it. How annoying.

"What the hell?"

Paul looked around the room, Ran's disappearence had been so sudden. And that feeling in his gut shot a jolt of worry through his body. He worriedly looked around until he saw her reappear on the other side of the room.

"What happened?"

Ran didn't respond. She didn't feel very safe sitting next to Paul at the moment. Instead she chose a seat on the side of the room she was on at the moment. She turned her head slightly and used her psychic powers to moniter his feelings and thoughts. That had been far too close. What if he completely lost control of his powers? She sighed. At least she'd know about it before hand. Being psychic had it's advantages but it was rather annoying. However she was used to it. It wasn't like there was anything she could do about it.

Stop it...I'm taking control. I won't let you make her afraid of me.

Pat fought against the uncontrollable feeling, and he felt he had it where it wouldn't be a problem. This feeling of wanting to protect Ran....he didn't know why he was feeling it, but he entertained the motive for protecting her.

"I think its safe now, things are under control..."

Ran listened to Paul's thoughts and tried to interpret his feelings. She sighed and pulled out the chocolate bar she had brought to class with her. The chocolate helped to sooth her mind. Strange how that always seemed to happen. But she'd keep her distance from Paul for as long as she could. Whatever it was about her that made him go dino she wasn't sure but she felt that it would be best to steer clear of him. No matter what he said she liked this end of the class room just fine...

OOC: Wait till she finds out they're roomies. XD

OOC: Lol, time will tell XD...

"Look what you did! You scared her away!"

"I did nothing, your the one who let your desires control you."

"Desire...is that what this feeling is...is that what you are?"

"Very good Paul. Now get what you desire, you'll be glad you did."

The weird feeling had taken on a mind of its own. Paul was now talking to it, and it was talking back. Paul whimpered softly as he threw his head back. He slouched down in the chair with his eyes closed.

When his eyelids closed his vision to the world, he saw something else. In the darkness of his closed eyes, he saw a pair or glowing purple eyes staring back at him. The eyes seemed to speak to him, "Go for what you want...you cannot resist it. Why bother to try and fight me?"

"Because...If I do what you want...she could get hurt. I won't let that happen."

"You insist on protecting her, yet you won't fufill your true desire?"

"I won't give in to you...I won't!"

Paul's head snapped forward and he quickly opened his eyes. He was panting now, and a bead of sweat trickled down his forehead. He wiped it away and spoke softly to nothing, "How can I fight...me?"

I make my way into the gymnasium and see a teacher in track pants, a top and a windcheater. He is about six feet tall and has a whistle around his neck and has a clip board in his hand. I walk in front of him and stand a few metres away. When the rest of the freshmen get here a platform rises out of the gym floor and he addresses us. "I am coach boom. You will address me as coach, sir or coach boom. When I call your name you will come up here and show me your power. Yes you will be coming up in front of every one else. You will show your power and I will give you a title of either hero or sidekick." The side of the small stage opens and a small ladder comes out. "Now. I am also known as sonic boom to those who are confused." He looks at the clipboard and smiles. "Ran. Come on up."

Ooc: you can control him also. And the school goes for bigger is better.

Ran stood up and walked to the middle of the room. She stood there for a moment contemplating what to do. Then she gave a shrug and the pendant around her neck began to glow. This time her eyes also gave off a faint bright blue light. She looked around the room then glanced at the clip board in Couch Boom's hands. She grinned and the clip board jumped from his hands and hovered five feet above his head. Deciding she didn't want to annoy the coach to long she lowered it back into his grasp quite quickly.

Now for something a little more impressive. She looked at the coach for a moment then said, "Sorry I didn't mean to annoy you or anything. But you said show off my powers so I did." She paused then added in a cheery voice, "That was rather rude." Simple technique of mind reading. It can be annoying but also quite fun. Now let's hope I can get this right. She closed her eyes and concentrated. She couldn't mess this up. It could mean being trained as a hero or being shunted off to be some side kick. She took a quick breath then vanished. Loose paper and pencils and other things that weren't secured, apart from the students and teacher, were suddenly lifted into the air. A faint blueish purple light with a tint of gold mixed in surrounded them.

Ran reappeared hovering a feet off the ground in front of Coach Boom. She smiled in slight relief. At least she'd managed teleportation correctly. She lowered everything back to it's proper place then gave a small wave and vanished again. She reappeared in her seat with a smile playing across her face. In truth she was worn out with the double teleports and all the extra stuff she had done but she was moderatly sure she had passed.

OOC: I think his name is Coach Boomer, not Coach Boom

Coach Boom shouted, "I think thats worthy of a hero class. Paul, your up."

"Gladly..."

"Your file says 'Transformation with super-strength,' lets see how strong you are."

Paul walked out to the gym floor and swiftly transformed. He roared proudly. Coach Boom grinned and pulled a rope that was hanging beside him. A car fell from nowhere, but the dinosaur jumped and carelessly kicked it aside.

Boomer pulled the rope again. This time a boulder the size of an elephant fell from the ceiling. Paul ran toward it and jumped. He curled into a spiky ball and spun toward the boulder, slicing it in half.

As the halves of the boulder landed next to Coach, he simply said, "Hero."

Paul reverted to his human form and sat down with a smile. He thought to himself, I did pretty good, that boulder had to be the biggest thing I've lifted since I got my dino form.

Leon Kusanagi flicked the hair out of his eyes. Heh, a dinosaur and a super-prep.
They didn't make heros like they used too.
He was fully aware that any psychics nearby could hear his thoughts, but failed to care. He slowly thought back to his days....
"Lets see what you've got, kid." Boom said, unimpressed.
"Well.... It's kind of complicated..." Leon had protested.
"Oh? What are you going to do? Excuse yourself out of peril?"
"No.... It's just that.... Well, I need something to attack me."
"Ah, combat skills? Ok, I'll attack you then."
"Well.... I'm glad for your offer, but.... Don't you have robots or something you won't need? I get kind of... Brutal when I attack."
"What!?! You think a kid like you could defeat THE SONIC BOOM!? Don't get cocky, Mr.Complicated."
Leon sighed, if only that were his problem.
"Ok.... But you're not going to like it." Was Leons reply.
"WE'LL SEE!" The coach said in his loudest voice, Leon sidestepped the blast of hot air, kicking the coach in the gut, another blast hit Leon, who was sent flying into the wall, which cracked. Leon made some kind of odd noise, and began to run towards the coach, Boom let out several blast, but Leon dodged them, ducking, zig-zagging, then, he launched into a side-kick, aimed at the coache's chest. The coach went flying, tearing directly through a wall.
Leon sighed in relief, reverting back to a normal stance.
However, another blast of hot air nearly caught him off-gaurd, he dived, and rolled to hit the subsequent shot, he jumped up, and ran as he did before, except, instead of jump-kicking, he dived, taking out the coach's knees, then, pinning the coach with one arm, got onto his knees, and placed his knuckles less than a millimeter away from the coach's throat.
"You lose." Leon sneered.
The coach only smiled.
"HERO!"

If only that had made it true...

OOC:No offense meant to you guys by the reference at the beginning, just needed to establish how pissed off my character is at everything.

I sit down and watch Ran, Paul and some one who get faster and stronger when they get attacked. Coach boomer looks at his clipboard and smiles. "Ken Dennings. Get up here and show us your power." I stand up and walk up the steps onto the raised platform. "I don't wish to show you my powers sir. All I can do is turn into a hamster." I lie. I close my eyes and listen to the laughter of the other students. "Not good enough freshmen. SIDE-KICK!!" I get hit by the blast of hot air and get thrown back and hit the wall. I fall to the ground and cry out in pain" argggh!!" I control my anger and do not transform so not to be made a hero. I walk back to my seat and sit down. I close my eyes and block out the remaining laughter. I talk to my self under my breath quietly. "I wish to be a side kick to give the other side kicks company as my roomie is kind of cute and seems a very kind person. A bit timid but kind."

OOC: Just a note, Leon's been here for a few years, what you read was a flashback.

Leon was surprised; the kid who had just gotten a psychic was capable of more. He saw the look of rage, he recognized the power.... There was no questioning it, the kid had potential.
Leon smiled.
Perhaps this year would be a good one after all.
brushing a hand through his hair, he walked foreward.
"You're good, but then again, the coach is pretty oblivious to hidden emotions." Kusangai smiled.
"But... I'm not."
