So...Do Poke'mon Eliminate the existance of Real Animals?

I don't think so, when they're in Pokemon world I think It's just Pokemon. I think I have heard them refer to real animals but never see any.

Why shouldn't we include humans. Were as much animals as any other animal (maybe more intelligence then most but that isn't a good reason to separate humans from other animals).

I was saying because the question of this thread could have been asked that way. And besides if you want to get scientific Im sure Pokemon would be animals too then, I mean what makes us animals is the difference in cells from plants and animals.

Actually, i thinkpokemon ARE animals, they could have evolved and due to mutations and other things they have gotten powers.

I understand your point, but I don't think the creators of the games and the tv-show thought of it that far. ^^

In my mind, the existence of pokemon has mostly eliminated the animals. Some pokemon are just too much like real animals so I have always thought that pokemon are like animals in that world. Especially the normal-type pokemon, they have almost no special skills compared to real animals. (Well, of course they are pretty different, but still.) Of course it could be different, I just have always thought of it like this.

eariler in teh series it seemed like their were nrml animals as well however later in teh series they completely removed the presence of animals so yes. its also been debated that to explain the existance of animals in the eariler series, (like in the cerulean gym) the nrml fish that were their were actually pokemon from later generations

Hm, I suppose that is a good point. Although I suppose it depends on whether you think Pokemon would be in the same kingdom as animals, although it would make sense considering every Pokemon contains at least one trait that has so far only been seen in animals.

I don't think they negate real animals completely.

Like others pointed out, the characters eat meat, so unless they're eating Pokemon, there must be other animals.
(Unless it's some kind of Tofurkey situation, anyway.)

Along with that, there are a few episodes that show real animals, like in the third episode of the first season, you see Pidgeotto eating a worm.

im srry but i thnk all animals in their world are pokemon. the only real difference between pokemon and animals s that pokemon have supernatural powers.

No, because Pokemon are Pokemon and animals are animals, they probably just existed in a past life like dinosaurs, but Pokemon decided not to include them because the show is about Pokemon. Gawd.

No there are no animals. Just pokemonz. Which brings of the question, do they hunt and eat the pokemonz too?

They would if there were only Pokemon^^ Yay, grilled Kapardor, sqirtle soup, oddish salad...XD(yummy!).

No seriously, since they mention real animals from time to time and they were also shown (even if it was only in the first seasons) I guess it's correct to think there are real animals.
They're just not interesting for the show^^

No, they never mention reeal animals these days. Especially with the pokemon mythology going on. Its like they shifted your attention away from the mention of animals.

In the Pokemon world, Pokemon technically are the animals. (except once in the Ghost of Maiden Rock, or something like that, episode) when the ghastly transformed into an actual mongoose. But yes, real animals are very rarely seen in the Pokemon world, and many are confined to a certain area/region.

Real animals made their appearance in one of the Cerulean City episodes. I saw non-Pokemon fish in the aquariums. :<

Besides, where would they get all the species from? Why do they call Goldeen the goldfish Pokemon in the PokeDex?

I think thats mostly for us(the fans) to know what it is but it annoys me to hear them say that.

Yeah it annoys me too.
I mean, did humans evolve from some sort of human Pokemon or some thing.
And what about the plants? Did they evolve from some sort of plant Pokemon?

well i suppose they co-exist but you never see them because normal animals either stay out of pokemon's way or they just don't attack you
