So, if I were to buy a GBA flashcard (question about GBC emulation and saves)

So, I was thinking it'd be neat to own a GBA emulator so I could play Pokemon hacks on my GBA (simple, yeah?). Anyways, I've been looking around, and it appears that I would need to buy a "GBC bridge" or something like that if I wanted to play GB/GBC ROMS off of the card, or I would need to use an emulator, which I've heard is slow working and not very good. Is this true, as I would like nothing more than to play Pokemon Gold for real on a Gameboy (even an advance) again. I've pretty much given up, as the second battery replacement is starting to die again. I don't think it can take much more soldering.

Secondly, would I be able to upload GBC ROMs to my computer using one of the GBA to PC USB cable things? I'd like to have my own copies of R/B/Y/G/S/C on the computer, simply for my own reasons. Secondly, if I can, can I upload already existing save files (for GB and GBA ROMS alike). And thirdly, are the save files on a flashcard interchangable with save files on a computer? Like, if I were to upload a Ruby file that had made it to the first gym leader, would I be able to download that to a flashcard, make it to the second gym leader, reupload it to the computer and make it to the third gym leader, and so on and so forth?

Thanks in advance for the answers, and sorry if my post is a little unclear. I tried to explain it as well as I could.

Ok, ROMs are playable on an Emulator, try using Visual Boy Advance if you'd like to play ROMs, but if you'd like to play flashcards, I think it might work on the GBC or GBA (whatever the flashcard is). And also, I haven't used any flashcards before, but flashcards might have a .sav file in them, but if you'd like, you can check and see when you upload them. But that is all I can think of, if it doesn't, well maybe someone else might be able to help you with it. ;)

I do understand that ROMs are playable on an emulator. I may be new to this, but I'm not that new...;). What I was asking was, would the progress be interchangeable between flashcart and emulator? Although, if it ran off of a .sav file, I'd suppose it would be, unless for some reason, the flashcart decided to hide that file from me.
