6th Gen SO many hoenn references

I've got reminded about the Legendaries.
Ruby and Sapphire Legendaries were red and blue.
X and Y Legendaries were blue and red.
Both Hoenn and Kalos know a third Legendary who fit them in, which are both green.

I guess that counts as a reference too?

Not even close. It could also be a reference to the original games, Red/Blue/Green.

Most likely it is simply the fact that all Pokemon games use those colors. Think about your starters, Fire(Red), Water(Blue), Grass(Green). This has been an ongoing thing and a lot of people seem to think that Hoenn is special in some way. The colors for all threw games were throwbacks to the originals.

I suppose my opinion is jaded due to the fact that Hoenn comes in at fourth or fifth in favorite generations. Also I see no purpose in creating a Hoenn remake. Short of it being from GBA. Granted we should get another first Gen remake as well.

no remakes, I think they give us the multitude of pokemon from diff generations so that we can battle with our fav mons from the start. if then Kanto had more references, with the forest and the exp share and rod lol.

Idk about you guys but I have talked to like 10 trainers that have a reference to the hoenn region. Also there are some references to the sinnoh region as well even the e4 drasna is from sinnoh. I'm not going to get my hopes up but I have a feeling there is a very good chance of a hoenn remake. Have you guys also noticed these references :p? (I have a feeling gf is trolling us lolz)

Yeah I must admit there were a fair few Hoen references. And I saw a similar thing when I first played Pokemon Platinum and saw a bunch of Jhoto references, sure enough HeartGold & SoulSilver were the next games to be released. However, there were also a reasonable number of Sinnoh references within the game, so I wouldn't be certain just yet about a 3rd gen remake.

I don't see that as ' soon' though. Gen 7 won't be for at least a few years

He actually says "you'll see it in due time"..

And he also says specifically that it is NOT "Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, or even Unova!" when you speak to him another time.

So it's probably a DLC / event island or something.

Gen 1 had THREE remakes (GSC, FRLG, HGSS). I think that's more than sufficient.

GSC is gen 2. HGSS is a remake of gen 2. We haven't had a gen 1 remake since GBA in 2004. What are you talking about?

Gen 1 had 1 remake. Kanto in Gen 2 is Gen 2 Kanto. Kanto in HG/SS is a remake of Gen 2 games. Gen 2 Kanto is different from Gen 1 Kanto. The games and stories are both different so Gen 1 has not been remade more than once.

There were a ton of references in Gen 5 with no remakes. The references are just coincidences and nothing more. The Johto references in Gen 4 weren't hints to the remakes since all of the Hoenn references should have pointed to Gen 3 remakes in Gen 5 which didn't happen killing off the suggestion that there are hints to remakes in the references. They are just references.

There are no DLCs and he says specifically he's not from Kalos. He has his own Champion as well, so its not some hidden event either. Junichi Matsuda said he wasn't adding another region into this game so we don't have a hidden region. This may not be much as it will take 2 to 3 years before we are even certain of it and there are still chances for remakes and a second installment of games for Kalos' story. So we'll have time to see what the backpacker meant.

BUT Gen 2 had Kanto, so that is pretty much a remake of Gen 1 (the NPCs are different, but it's still essentially the same thing.)

HGSS isn't gen 1 remake, it's a gen 2 remake IIRC.

I'd really like to see a gen 3 remake tbh. Pokemon Sapphire/Emerald were just amazing IMO. Would be fun to create a base again ;P

No it's completely different. People like it for more than just wandering around the same region. Gen 1 only had 1 remake. My only reason for saying it should get a remake if Gen 3 does is because both were on GBA and we can't play them on the current system. We can play Gen 2(Remake), Gen 4, Gen 5 and Gen 6. It only makes sense to remake Gen 1 if they remake Gen 3.

I found a good one, koff~

There's a women in a cafe in Luminos City where she says that "Oak's grandson came to Kalos to study abroad. He got Bonjour down just fine, but kept saying Smell you later." I forgot how much I loved that! "Gen. three is totally the best! No other is as good as the third Generation of Pokemon!" Yeah? Smell you later losers, koffi~

You have a point, but I seriously doubt they'd make a remake of a remake.

Back to the topic of Hoenn remakes, I think they'll probably make those. Not because of those references, because remakes can give them a "break" until they make Gen 7.

Most recent Hoenn reference I've come across is a little girl in Laverre City saying her uncle came from Hoenn.

We seriously do NOT need to revisit Kanto again!!! No hate, Gen 1 is one of my favourites but seriously??? Kanto has been visited in:
Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, Gold, Silver, Crystal, Fire Red, Leaf Green, Heart Gold and Soul Silver.

12 times guys... 12.

Hoenn (and Sinnoh for that matter) have only been visited 3 times. I honestly think that Hoenn at least has earned it's remake.

It's been 10 years, Game Freak. Get your sh*t together.

I don't think that counts, koff~

I would cut that number down to four. Generations one and three are technically the 'true' Kanto. Whereas Generations two and four visit the 'new' Kanto. Both Kantos are different, and each rendition has added something new. I wouldn't really call the Kantos between Pokemon Blue Version and Pokemon Red Version as 'different'. They all had the same features (Red, Blue, Green) with minor differences between them. You could play Pokemon Yellow Version twice and say you visited Kanto two times if that were truly the case, koffi~

I noticed that too; if you speak to her uncle, did you realise he's actually the strange man from the Pokemon Center in Mauville City? Or at least some relation of his...

Apart from that, there's been a ton of references to Johto, Kanto, Sinnoh... and Hoenn of course. It doesn't really point to a remake in my opinion, but I'd love to see it!
