Suggestion: so what's the deal with general entertainment huh

sorry if I must inquire on this I'm sure it's been mentioned plenty. I'm just wondering why you guys continue to foster such a messy and convoluted approach to the general entertainment board? every time I wonder in there I get sorta discouraged by how sloppy it is rofl. sports topics, movie topics, music topics, book topics, like whoa it makes me want to go lie down.

fact is, these are all really broad areas of discussion and each one has a large demographic of members, yet it's all just sorta smashed together and it's just really ugly guys. I get that it's all entertainment based okay, but together they just don't jive man, and having them synchronized like that is sorta selling their individual discussion values short. I'm not saying we should compartmentalize all the subjects, but the music and the sports sections are certainly worthy of their own boards. doing so would inspire more in-depth discussions on the subjects but at the very least it would create a more familiar and less contrived atmosphere.

I agree that looking at the board now it's a bit messy what with all the film and TV show and sports etc topics going on, and in the past I've been on forums that have had little sub-boards for each of those fields individually, but I'm not sure how successful that would be on a forum like this, with the activity that the whole General Entertainment section is currently pulling in. that being said, I think that it's entirely possible that creating sub-boards for each individual topic would foster far more (& in-depth) discussion as opposed to the weird smorgasbord of Oh! This TV Show! Oh Rugby World Cup! OH WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO????????/ thing that's going on right now.

I was beginning to notice how busy the board looks now as opposed to before, what with all the new prefixes, and what also has been bugging me a little lately has been the lack of discussion value within those threads -- most threads about a specific thing get like 5 posts max and then die out, with no continuing discussion as new people hear / watch / etc or new episodes come out, or what have you. and that's something I probably need to work on. the next couple weeks are gonna be hell for me, what with applying to college and the end of Marching Band Season, but I'm gonna try to brainstorm about what I can do to change these things.

thanks for posting this as it'll probably finally get me off my ass and do something to remedy this. (:
