Mewtwo in the final badge episode of the Kanto saga in your opinions? See I thought that Mewtwo was unable to be scanned due to interferance with that armor, but I could be wrong, since Ho-Oh was unable to be scanned by Ash's pokedex in (spoilers) the first episode. But then again, that was before Dexter got upgraded to scan more pokemon than just the 150 (151 if counting Mew.)

Because no one knew anything about Mewtwo, since they dont really know anything about most of the legendary pokemon.

because he was artificial....that's like trying to scan a rock....just can't do it...while as the reason Ash couldn't scan Ho-oh,was because it wasn't one of the 151 poke'mon, which the pokedex was only able to scan....

The ability of the Pokédex to identify a Pokémon is limited by the data that is inside the database. That's why it cannot identify Mewtwo, Ho-oh or Blaziken (during the Johto League), simply because that data was not availible at that time. With the proper updates, I'm sure it can.

Before Ash faced Drake in the Orange League he pointed his Pokédex at a statue of a Dragonite and it was able to identify it as a Dragonite. So the Pokédex seems to be able to identify Pokémon through shapes too.

Why would Mew be the execption when it was Mewtwo that no one save the people who funded and worked on the project even knew about?

yea mewtwo wasnt in the dex, either was ho-oh at the time, it was too early in the show
