HI, ROM hacking feels so bad at some points; importing custom tiles, an ugly scripting language, restrictions, etcetera etctera.
So, I decided to switch to essentials

    MY DOUBTS

    1. Is it easy (I feel programming easy and I know some C++, Unreal, QBASIC, HTML, JavaScript)
    2. Is it easy to import custom tiles
    3. Does Fan-Game has much popularity like ROM hacking
    4. Are there Pokecommunity awards for fan-games or planning to come
    5. I heard about some frame rate issue
    6. Is it possible to play on android using JOIPLAY emulator or is it possible to convert to GBA

ROM hacking or Fan-Game should I go for?😟

    Thank you...

Mapping and eventing is quite easy in pokemon essentials, but I think scripting in Pokemon essentials is a real hard for beginners.
Importing a complete tileset in Pokemon essentials is little hard as you need to add the passability for each file and also the terrain tags. But if you feel to add some new custom tiles to pre defined ones, it's easy.
According to me it's quite popular though the fan games made are not so high in numbers as rom hacks. In a personal point I prefer rom hack.
I am unsure of any award given or so if given.
Can you clearly explain what do you mean by frame rate issue.
It's not possible to convert into gba, you need to play it using joiplay.

Thanks friend, and what I meant by awards is, ROM hacks are awarded hacks of the year award in Pokecommunity, But is there an award like 'Fan Game of the year'?
There a lot of videos in youtube about best ROM hacks, every day at least one video in that topic gets uploaded, that made me think ROM hacks are much popular.
Frame rate issue : People say games made using RMXP lags at times if is a big city

Actually I don't know of any award provided or so. And in my project till now I have not found anything lagging. But I don't know whether it will lag or not after adding more cities

If you're doing this just for clout then you're better off sticking to ROM Hacking.

    1. Is it easy (I feel programming easy and I know some C++, Unreal, QBASIC, HTML, JavaScript)

I imagine RPG Maker / Essentials is much easier than rom hacking. I only briefly looked at rom hacking and having to edit hex code gave me anxiety.

    2. Is it easy to import custom tiles

As long as you know the dimensions of tilesets, I guess so.

    3. Does Fan-Game has much popularity like ROM hacking

    Well, there's Uranium.

    5. I heard about some frame rate issue

Depends on how big your maps are, how many events and animations you have on screen. Otherwise, you can try PSDK. It's 60 FPS.

    6. Is it possible to play on android using JOIPLAY emulator or is it possible to convert to GBA

I think there's a plugin for RPG maker games or something with joiplay (I only briefly looked into it). I don't think simply converting file extensions exists between a rom and an exe.

Go fan-game. There's a lot more you can do, as I hear roms have memory limitations. Plus, I think essentials / rpg maker is approachable in understanding scripts, events, etc. Lots of things are simple file replacements.
