Some EV Training Questions

OK, so it's my first shot at EV training, and I'm experimenting on my poor Elekid. I have some questions (the Q&A thread is too slow):
1. Does catching a PKMN give you EVs?
2. Does encountering a Pokemon and running away give EVs?
3. OK, I'm EV training my Elekid who has no EVs in other Stats, so why is it gaining more in other Stats in Attack?

Please help me!

1 and 2 - No, you must battle and DEFEAT a pokemon to earn EVS
3 - Note that EV training's results won't show up right away. It usually would show up at a higher level.

No, he was just to impatient to get a response from the sticky threads. 1 & 2: you actually asked this? Well, no for both. 3:Reword, but EVs don't really kick in until later levels. Doesn't matter, Wifi maximizes levels. And use the sticky next time :/
