    i havent played pokemon for a long time and im a bit confused.
    What are shinies and events and how do you get them?

    Shinies are alternate Colours of original pokemon you have a 1/8000 chance of encountering one int he game however there are techniques to 'increase' the chance


    events are usually legendarys they are giving out when Nintendo does a promotion at a certain place i think .
     
    Evs are effort points every time your pokemon levels up its stats go up basically evs are extra points in a certain area for example let say I had a zangoose and Ill constantly battled against pikachu and zangoose leveled up instead of its speed stat going up by 2 it would go up by 4 every pokemon gives evs but some give more than others in certain areas if you want more info on evs and shinies go to serebii.net and look under game mechanics in the left corner

    Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I think that's how it works, IV's are the mystery to me, but I'm getting better at understanding them. Also, make sure your final EV for a stat is divisible by 4, as every 4 EV's equals a stat point, the rest are wasted.
