Okay, a looong time ago, I posted this here:
    Spoiler:

Some of you might remember, most wont. (If you want to go to my thread that had it just click my name, go to Statistics, click find all threads by deku, and it is pretty much the only one in this section). Also, back in the old thread I metioned all of the flaws (heads too small mainly for Milotic and Seviper, etc.) and wanted you to know that I saw these and was too lazy to change it >>

Anyways, back to the point, since then I've gotten a new computer that can support programs and stuff without going realllly slow, and I decided to download GIMP yesterday (at like midnight). I played around a little and decided that I'd probably suck at this type of stuff. And I tried some stuff last night and did suck. Well, after getting inspired by some amazing art on here I decided to try again. I opened what is in the spoiler above into GIMP, found a nice tutorial (https://naraku301.deviantart.com/art/Coloring-On-the-GIMP-22527500 - it was AMAZING, thank you so much to whoever that is), and got to work. Here is my final product:

    Spoiler:

Overall, I was surprized at how well it looks. I really have trouble believing that it went from the first to second, and that it wall all completley scratch and by me! I know some of the colors might be off; I couldn't get the exact color, but I tried. Also, the background was really quick because I didn't want it to be just blankness.

Anyways, I know it isn't perfect and would absolutley love if you extremely talented artists here could comment and critisize!

    Thank you!

    deku.

I'm just assuming you would like critique on the colouring since you said that people already told you about the anatomy when you posted the sketch so

Honestly, I can't say that I particularly like that tutorial, and I also use GIMP so I can say that there are "better" ways to colour. I suppose it's a nice start on learning where all the brushes and things are but the art it produces isn't particularly aesthetically pleasing. Keep in mind though, that's just my opinion.

First of all, I can't say I like the use of the fuzzy brush for shading; it tends to look a little bit sloppy (again though, that's just me).
Also, your light source doesn't look very consistent. I can't really help too much on that because it's mostly practice, but it does help to draw a little lightbulb or something in your sketch and then just kinda visualize where the light would and wouldn't hit.
Also, it's alright if the colours are bit off because it's more important to have them match and look well together. An easy way (but certainly not the only way) to tie all the colours together is to create a new layer, set it on multiply, and then shade on that layer using a single colour. Actually, that's the method I used on the little doodle in my sig. You'll also want to mess a bit with opacity and stuff, but that's all just a matter of learning and getting used to the program.

Hopefully that helped a bit; I tend to be a bit bad when it comes to teaching and explaining, and I didn't really go very into depth here, not that I'm any good at that either.

    Thanks for the critique! ^^

Do you know of another tutorial that shows the other ways to color it? I'm kinda just exploring and trying to figure things out in the program, and would like to get many different methods to find my favorite.
I wasn't really sure about the shading either; I thought Milotics body looked odd at the bottom.
The light is something I need to work on too >> I guess that it is something that comes with practice.
I'll try that shading method, if I can figure it out ^^
Just a side not, I found the picture in your sig quite amusing :)

Here is my Oddish; the poor thing got run over by a lawn mower... Anyways, please anyone give me tips and criticism about anything! I just made this a second ago with my brand new tablet (still trying to become accustomed and used to it...) So, enjoy!

    Spoiler:

It looks ok, not great or anything though; I'd sugest working on controling your form a bit more, it seems like the lines never really are smooth or sharp when they need to. It could be because you rush or something, maybe if you rush you should try and slow down while drawing, turns out the slower you draw at the start the better and faster you can draw later on. At least thats what I found out through out the years.

Thanks for the help and advise ^^ I was just testing out my tablet and getting used to it with that and was too eager to clean things up and actually take my time (which I know I should've) and I'll try to do what you asked. Anyways, today I tried some Sugimori style artwork and made a fake evolution of Dewgong. I know the outlines are too think and I will change that in my later work (I tried to this time after I realized it looked bad and it just made it look worse). Anyways, if anyone could give me some more pointers about anything (coloring, actual drawing, posing, shading, etc.) please tell me! Anyways, here it is:

Aaand I go to open it and it's corrupted :/ If anyone has any tips on getting in back I'd like to know :(
