I'm brand new at this, but I was trying to follow a tutorial to add the Gen 9 pack to a new game and I got this error message after trying to compile the data.

    [Pokémon Essentials version 21.1]

    Message: Unknown exception when compiling.

I can't say I've ever figured that out. But I have actually found it pretty easy to add individual pokemon into the game. There are only a few steps.

    1. Find a Back Sprite & Front Sprite for each evolution stage (I ignore the shiny, if the player happens to find a shiny they will just get a big question mark lol)

    2. Make them the right size, which is 160x160 (I use paint 3D) You may need to convert some webpgs to jpegs with an online converter. You will also need an "Icon" graphic, which I like to just shrink down the front sprite and copy paste it in 128x64.

    3. Go to the PBS and "create" the Pokemon. (up to generation 8 are already in there) This just involves changing the type, moves, tm moves, name, description, weight, and color.

    4. Open the game and go to the debug menu. Manually adjust the sprite to fit to the shadow.

And bam you'll have a new gen 9 pokemon in the game...minus all of it's unique moves and abilities. But it's in there!
