I've never heard of "shovelware." Though, whatever gets money, gets money. It's a matter of opinion; but many people buy and enjoy most of the Nintendo spin-offs, so I wouldn't classify them as "failing."

And I'd think Sonic Unleashed was a decent, real Sonic game that came out lately. If only the werehog sections were instead you playing as Knuckles, it'd have been fantastic. I just miss Knuckles (and not the "findzeemeralds" nonsense).

I didn't mean fail in a financial sense. I meant they fail because they're gimmicky quick grabs for cash, but like you said, it's all down to personal opinion.

Seriously though, I'm new to Sonic and all, but the last time I checked Tails gets around by swinging his tails around or some crap, Sonic actually RUNS and Aiai/Mimi roll around in a ball? I know that these differ in speed dramaticly compared to each other, but SEGA could add a twist and include something OTHER than vehicles.

I don't really see this game being all that great, because frankly I don't think I know more than 6 SEGA mascots. :O
A company like Rare or Konami might be able to pull this type of thing off, but Rare sucks nowadays and Konami already did this kind of thing with the Olympics or something.

Another badly conceived spin off that will no doubt fail. Well done SEGA, you just done a Nintendo.

Do you mean racing games specifically or overall party/spin offs?
Because SGEA superstars Tennis > Super Mario Tennis by a long long way.

I'm sure we'll see Amy Rose, Ulala, and NiGHTS as well in this game. Hopefully there will be some Phantasy Star series references.

Because they weren't at all repetitive shovelware or anything.

I agree alittle. Mario Parties 1-3 were pretty good, after 4 though, they were all pretty bad. Mario Kart however isn't what I'd consider shovelware, because there was obviously work put into the games to make sure that they were fun to play. I think Mario Tennis, Mario Golf, and Mario Strikers were all pretty good too, the other spin-offs though..yeah not so good. Although Square-Enix's Mario Hoops wasn't too bad either.

Well the Nights was annoying in tennis lol but I guess the other characters aren't bad since some of them I've never heard of before in my life. xD

Because Nintendo spin offs fail, amirite? That's why they've made 9 Mario Parties and several Mario Karts; because they all fail and don't sell at all.

I don't think Mario Party as an example of quality software, though. I wouldn't go as far as to call it shovelware (especially when you compare it to the stuff that Ubisoft has been pumping out on the Wii/DS in the last 2-3 years), because the games are, for the most part, fairly decent, but the rapid amount of them that are produced in such a short time span is a turn-off for most people.

This Sonic game looks terrible, by the way, and it isn't what Sonic needs. Mario can get away with all the sports/party spin-offs, because the platformers like Galaxy are still great games. Sonic, on the other hand, hasn't had a decent platformer since 2001. Sega should be focusing their efforts on creating a real Sonic game (and one that doesn't suck); not another spin-off to make a quick buck.

I have seen many videos and screenshots and it's nothing like Mario Kart and SEGA, please make a Sonic game like the original games because that's what made Sonic. :(

I liked Unleashed style of gameplay. I kept me going with that 3-D, 2-D camera angles, I'm sure the Sonic games would be better but never again will we repeat Werehog. Anyway if Sega make a decent game for once that gets good ratings like to good old days then I'll start buying Sonic games for once instead of borrowing.

Why a racing game, why!? They really should do another platformer, maybe Sonic Adventure 3! I want to take care of Chao again, and I think that SA2B was an awesome game, too bad mine is now lost because of UPS...

But to get on topic, I think that thhis game could end up as either the best game ever, or the worst game since E.T. I might end up getting it if it's for DS, if it's for Wii, well probably not, since I don't have a Wii.

I just played MySims Racing for DS and i must say it's rather fun and good, if it plays like that on DS then it's a yes from me! :D

Hmm it doesn't really matter for me what game system it's in, but if they get bad reviews, I'll still probably try them for fun.
