Game Help: SOS Chain Shiny Hunting in Sun and Moon

Recently I've started to play 'Pokemon: Moon' again and after hearing and reading so much about the popular shiny hunting, I want to try it out myself and catch a shiny Cleffa and a shiny Happiny. I've read many guides and watched videos on Youtube by now, for short I know I need an adrenaline orb to make the wild pokemon nervous for it to call for help and a strong pokemon, preferably with the ability pressure etc. But my question is, if it is absolutely necessary to own the shiny charm?
