Spam Report

I think this thread is a cool idea but it's allot less useful than the "report post" feature. In this case a user would have to notice a post against the rules, copy its location (URL), find the spam report thread, make a reply, and wait for a moderator to stroll by that can change it. I think that's too many steps for spam to be fought effectively. With the "report post" feature all a user would have to do is click a link, all the information is generated automatically, a new thread is created specifically for that report. It's a lot easier in my opinion.

Oh… and are moderators upset about their PM boxes getting filled? I don't think they should have much to worry about. Moderators only get reports that relate to forums that they monitor. It should be the Super moderators and Administrators that complain more because they get all Reports to their inboxes. I get anywhere from 10 to about 35 per day.

To reiterate my point, it's a really good idea you have here but I don't think it should replace the "report post" feature. Besides, an open thread inspires conversation. Conversation in a thread like this makes it hard for moderators to do their jobs. Especially if Moderators have to search through 10 replies before getting to the next report. Feel me?

Now, tell me. The mods don't need to grouse, but we don't need a thread either. Mods can see a forum where reports file in. Therefore we don't need an actual thread. So, the idea is certainly nice, but it's unnecessary.
yeah this is unnecessary and it's getting out of control if you get spam use the report button i think thats acknowleged

From what I know, there's actually a lot of behind-the-scenes activity that only the staff know about, such as private staff forums (where a lot of activity takes place, such as votes on member banning, decisions on the forum and the community, etc. are made), a specialised inbox where filed reports are complied and presented to, and reviewed by, staff members, and so on, all invisible to members. All of this is centralised in a single location to make things more convenient for the staff members, who could otherwise have to run around all over the place just to perform his/her duities. Having a seperate thread for spam reports is a good idea, but this can lead to loss of productivity on the staff members (less time spend attending to genuine problem areas), and also unnecessary duplication of information (the same report being filed twice in two different locations).

ok what are you talking about and why are you talking about the private forums and that for the staff?
