3rd Gen Specific EV Question

    If I have my Bulbasaur fight a Rattata, which gives 1 SPD EV, but finish it with my Pidgey which pokemon will get the EV? Will they both get 1 or will each get a half EV?

    I ask because Im going to take the Nuzlocke Challenge on my Firered and am planning to EV train them while going through the game.
