Speculatory Platinum Teams

    Yes, I am aware that a lot of people probably don't think this far ahead. =P

    So... with Platinum coming out (and still much unconfirmed), I thought it'd be interesting to get an insight on the kind of teams you plan on using once Platinum shows up on Shoddy (or... I dunno, Wifi). This isn't really intended to be an RMT thread - especially since there's still plenty of holes in Platinum, but you can probably drop a comment or two on another person's planned team, if you want.

    So... probably should kick things off with my ideal Platinum team:

    Heatran @ Choice Scarf
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 252 Special Attack, 236 Speed, 20 HP
    -Fire Blast
    -Earth Power
    -Dragon Pulse
    -Stealth Rock

    Stealth Rock Scarfed Heatran. I really wanted something with Rocks on here, and Heatran seemed the best thing for the job. =P Other than that, this thing deals with Azelfs well, revenges Lucario, Ape, and Scizor.

    Nature: Naughty
    EVs: 252 Attack, 20 Special Attack, 236 Speed
    -Ice Shard
    -Earthquake
    -Stone Edge
    -Blizzard

    Always used Choice Mamo before, so I wanted to break out. Ice Sharder (big to-do, with Mence on the lose, as well as helpful priority). I'm pending on whether or not I should use Substitute (which seems a very appealing option) or not. I guess an alternative option for me would be Weavile, which'd be helpful for Azelf, Gar, and in some cases Cresselia. But Swine seems good for now.

    Salamence @ Life Orb
    Nature: Rash
    EVs: 120 Attack, 148 Special Attack, 240 Speed
    -Draco Meteor
    -Fire Blast
    -Brick Break
    -Roost

    I felt like running MixMence instead of that neat-looking toy that will be DDOutrage Mence. Anyhow, took the Special Attack EVs to outrun max Speed Suicune (which currently scares me to all heck) and Adamant 252 Lucario... y'know. Hopefully the new rage isn't going to be Timid Ice Punch Lucario. D:

    Toaster Rotom @ Leftovers
    Nature: Careful
    EVs: 252 HP, 144 Defense, 112 Special Defense
    -Overheat
    -Discharge
    -Rest
    -Sleep Talk

    It probably isn't too smart to pack ReSTalk Overheat, but I wanted to give it a go. Main Status absorber and everyways Yanny/Scizor counter. :D Hopefully it doesn't end up my last Pokemon.

    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 252 Special Attack, 252 Speed, 4 Attack

    Trick Gar. :D Forget Black Sludge. Scarf's where it's at. I'm a little wary of its current moveset, since there's so much crud I want to pack on it, but the standard issue seems okay for now.

    Nature: Adamant/Jolly
    EVs: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
    -Stone Edge/Ice Punch
    -Bullet Punch/Swords Dance
    -Close Combat
    -Crunch

    Lucario. :D I'm a little wary of which combination of Ice Punch/Stone Edge/Crunch/Bullet Punch/Swords Dance (Close Combat's a given) I want to be using right now, and so far I'm kind of thinking on a Timid all-out attacker, which'll probably change once Platinum playing starts.

    So... what do you plan to use?
     
    Well, i havent really put much thought into a team per say since its way too early for me to be worrying about that lol. However i DO want to build a team around : -


    Zapdos@Choice Specs
    252 SPEED / 252 SP.ATT / 6 HP
    Modest / Timid Nature
    - Air Cutter
    - Heat Wave
    - Hidden power Ice
    - Thunderbolt.
     
    Personally, you NEED Swords Dance to do any sort of damage. So there that goes. And without Extremespeed, Weavile will ruin you, so you need that. Hell, not only Weavile. Salamence, Azelf hell, even Raichu could kick your ass.

    So ExtremeSpeed is also necessary. Close Combat is a duh. That leaves one move left. If you go with the Punch, Mence is no longer a safe switch-in, yeah, but remeber, he can still revenge kill at max health (X Speed is no longer an OHKO after Intimidate, even if you used Swords Dance). Also, you wil be walled by Cressila, Dusknoir, etc. If you use Crunch, Mence will be easier to switch in.

    So remember, you will be walled. I don't see why everyone is freaking out over Luke. The low base power of those fists really kills him, and his moveslot only leaves room for one extra move,that will leave him walled regardless.
     
    Who would you like to wall you, Cresselia and Dusknoir, or Gliscor and Salamence? Close Combat and Extremespeed on Lucario are the Draco Meteor and Hydro Pump on Specsmence.

    As I've been saying this whole time, WHAT IS SO BROKEN WITH LUCARIO? It is STILL walled by Noir, Cressy, Spiritomb, & Weezing. Even with Ice Punch, it is STILL slower than Salamence, so if Sala comes for a revenge kill, you won't be able to even hit it.


    My dream team? No idea, but I got onepoke I'm gonna try using.

    I posted a dream Platinum hail team so I won't put it up again. I would recommend Fire Blast on Mence though in the same way Chompy had Blast on him.

    Bad EVS, take the 126/126 out of Def/SDef and dump them in HP. Subsitute should also be somewhere to make paraflinch more annoying.

    Sadly Zam doesn't get Vacuum Wave.

    I cloned my Movie Shaymin, and am training it for the Japanese Platinum I ordered yesterday on play-asia. I plan this:

    Shaymin(Either Form)@Choice Specs
    6HP, 252 S.ATK, 252 SPD
    Modest(The only nature I have for it)
    Seed Flare
    Psychic
    Air Slash
    Earth Power (Just confimed on Smogon via Move Tutor)

    I already have the EVs set, and it's at Lv.100. Now All I need to do is wait for my game to come through the mail.

    I also plan a rehash of my trademark CBTress:

    Rock Slide/Explosion

    My 3rd Gen creation gets stronger by the day!

    I was going to make one, but I didn't know if it would be allowed through. So, as the good boy I am, I asked D_A. He never replied. X_X

    I was intending on using SD Ice Punch Lucario, but...

    Skymin gets Earthpower! *faints

    Seriously, people were calling for Heatran to be a reliable Skymin counter, but now it gets Earthpower. No more filler of Psychic or HP Ground.
