Spitec: Betrayal (Part 2)

I had decided to leave Diana at the gate, it was better that she didn't get involved in this...

I was inside the zoo, wearing sunglasses, and with my changing hair color, recognition wouldn't be a problem. At the moment, it was a silvery blond. I was already drawing my magnum from inside my coat as the man shot Shauni. It was time for a hostage situation...

The man sent several other shots, and one hit my leg, sending me to the ground with a yelp. Unfortunatly, going 60 miles an hour, and resulting slide ended up with me aginst the electrical fence until I managed to pull myself away...

Suddenly, another gunshot rang out, and the man fell to his knees, a magnum slug having just gone through his foot. I had knocked out a child, around 13 or so with the but of my pistol, and was now holding the gun to his head. "All right people," I said, speaking in a loud voice. "You will shut down the electric fence, and release the raptor, or I will begin to indiscriminantly fire upon civillians." I said, making my point by shooting the man again, this time in the arm that was reaching for his rifle.

After a few moments, the electricity in the fence shut down, but I couldn't get to my feet except after a bit of struggling. I was limping badly, and every step I was near collapse. I- no, the raptor- knew that soon it would bleed to death...

I suddenly realized what happened, and that there's no way I'd be able to get rachel away and to an emergency room, even if I did splash her with hot water. I began praying to whatever greater forces there may be for aid, but before I could even finish, a scream broke out, and seeral people looked up to see a news helicopter rapidly descending, right above us. I dove down, crawling away as the helicopter crash-landed, only barely missing the people running out of it's path, and I fired several shots, a few flesh wounds for the story, but most were misses to distract people. In the chaos, I had crawled over to rachel, and got out a bottle of hot water. "I've got a plan, don't worry..." I said.

I didn't hear him, and it didn't matter. Without thinking, my good leg was on his back, and i had lowered my head, grabbing the bottle from him and tossing it away. This hurt me even further, but I didn't care. I shifted my one ton weight into him, preparing to drive my foot claw into him. aleady the claw had sliced him a few times, but once his spine was slashed..

When she knocked away the bottle and began lashing at my back, I stiffened from the pain, but reached to my neck. Shortly after the first dosage of chemicals had worn off, I took up the habit of carrying around a capsule of water that stayed warm form my body heat on a small silver chain, and I still wore it, though It was out of habit by now. I quickly tore it off, making a small opening in it where it was attachted to the chain, and slammed it in between my palm and the foot of her wounded leg...

When I was turned human again, I fell to the ground next to Robert after feeling a fiery pain around my leg and shoulders. I was bleeding heavily now, thanks to my smaller size and weight, and I already felt dazed... I was close to fainting, but I didn't notice...

"come on." I said, picking her up with some difficulty, the slashes on my back bleeding, htough my hair had become red again, and no one seemed to recognize me now that the sunglasses and coat were gone. I slowly made my way to where a few ambulances were already on site taking the crash victims and those who had been shot. "My little sister..." I breathed, feigning being short of breath. "She got shot by that lunatic, and I got cut up by the utharaptor." I said, hoping this would work...

they didn't say much, but one of them took me from Robert's hands and placed me on one of the medical beds inside the ambulence. One of the people working through this operation said to robert "we have a second bed. Would you rather ride with her, or be on a seperate vehicle? Either way, if you can, hop in yourself so we can get the rest of the victems."

"I'll ride with her." I said, without hesitating. I slowly worked my way up into the ambulance on my own, despite the pain now searing through my back, and lay down on my stomach in the vacant spot, not wanting to touch the wounds to anything.

Withen a few moments, an attendent hopped on and made sure everything was secure as the ambulence sped towards the hospital. I had become concous, and after I became used to the pain, I noticed Robert close to me, and without thinking, slipped my hand under his. I didn't know what I was doing, as I was dazed and still confused, but at least now I was comforted..

I helds her hand firmly in mine when I felt it, silently praying that she would be okay. It didn't matter about me, I didn't think she had done anything permanent as a raptor, but I needed to be sure that she was okay first...

I fainted, and was only aware of the ambulance reaching the hospital, and several workers put me and Robert on diffrent stretchers as we were taken to the emergency room. I didn't know what they were doing to Robert, probably knocking him out and stitching up the wounds. Since I was already fainted, they could remove the bullets and stitch my own wounds...

Later, I woke up in a darkened room, and I immediatly realised that I had a massive headache. Correction, it was a migraine. No wonder it was dark and there was nobody around, they probably had put Robert in a seperate room..

"I don't CARE if I'm not well enough to be moving around!" I said angrily to the doctor sitting next to my bed. "I need to see my g... sister!" I repeated vehemently, trying to convince them. Of course, I wasn't very intimidating in this form, and the removal of my gun along with my other clothes in place of a hospital gown did little to help that...

One of the docters that had been tending to me came into the room where he was, and said "even if you were well enough to visit her, you'd only make things worse. She's throwing up about every five minutes, and the rate only increases when exposed to light or sound."

He was right, as I recovered from moving over to a nearby bathroom to throw up, and returning to the bed. I was trying to fall asleep to be able to work past the migraine, but my headache was going the opposite...

"All right." I said hesitantly, leaning back against the reclined beg, putting my hands behind my head. "Any idea when we'll be well enough to leave?" I asked, hoping that it would be soon. Chaos seemed to follow us like irong shavings to a magnet, and I didn't like the idea of being in a public place, let alone a hospial when back luck stuck again.

"you're already well enough to leave, if you have somebody to make sure that the wounds don't become infected. Your sister can leave as soon as she falls asleep, we can drug her then to keep her asleep long enough for her mind to straighten out. When you take her home, you need to keep her in bed. the gun wounds went straight into her bone, it will be painful for her to walk, and the trauma from the pain will more then likely give her another migraine. it's okay for short distances, but keep her away from stairs and anything past about 20 steps..." the docter said, leaving to check back on me.

I was nearly unconcous, but I was still hanging by a thread, even though I didn't want to. this headache was too much, and it was stressing me out..

"Where did that darn ambulance get to~ nya!" I cried as I wandered into an extremely dark alley. I had waited outside of the zoo, when I noticed Robert on the ambulance, so I decided to follow. I had lost track of the vehicle, and now I was lost.

My right ear twitched as I heard a noise from behind, and I jumped high into the air, dodging an incoming swing from a bat, landing oerfectly to the left of my original position.

"What do we have here? A little kitty girl!" a tall, dark figure laughed as he swung again, and I avoided it, landing to the right of the man. He was obviously a thug, and drunk by the smell of it. I had found that my sence of smell and sight had improved drastically since the morning, enabling me to see and smell my opponent in the darkness.

I reached for my gun, and paniced. It had disappeared! I This distraction gave the thug enough time to hit me, sending me flying, though the cat side had me land perfectly on my hands in feet.

Things just went down from there, as I hadn't sensed the other person behind me, and by the time I did, I had already taken a sharp blow to the head, knocking me out...

I woke up with a start some time later, on what appeared to be a stretcher being carried down a hospital hallway.

"All right." I said, though it was to myself as the doctor left, taking a mental note of the instructions. Still, as long as she'd be okay, this wouldn't be too bad. In fact, I was feeling a lot better now that I knew she'd recover...
