    Hi!

Can anyone give me some ideas for some good Spiritomb movesets?

I'm thinking of using one on my team y'see....

    Thanks.

    DAN!

I know my sets are usually flamed upon, but as of now, I don't care.

    Spiritomb@ Leftovers
    Sassy Nature
    252 Def/ 252 Sp. Def/ 6 HP
    Trait: Pressure
    Pain Split
    Will-O-Wisp
    Substitute
    Sucker Punch/ Dark Pulse/ Pursuit

I put Substitute in because it takes at least 2 hits to get rid of the substitute for Spiritomb, and Pressure will get rid of PP fast. Pain Split to recover, Will-O-Wisp for damage and to lessen Attack (considering the nature I provided), and an attack move.

    Hope that helped.

    Spiritomb@Leftovers
    Bold
    -Will-o-Wisp
    -Calm Mind
    -Pain Split
    -Dark Pulse/Shadow Ball

    That's a fairly solid Spiritomb

Yeah I was thinking of CM / Dark Pulse.

I wasn't sure whether to go for Hypnosis or Will-o-Wisp

Seeing as burning lowers attack....I'm leaning towards Will-o-Wisp....

With that in mind would it be better to stick 252 EVs in HP instead of defense?

Yeah, Spiritomb's HP is too low to not pay attention to it.

So max out HP to begin with, and then either max out one of his defenses, or split it up between the two of them (if you want a powerhouse single wall, or a durable double wall). The nature could also go towards the defense you want to boost. I prefer to go towards a -Speed nature, but you can go with -Atk/-SpAtk if you really want to, depending on the moveset you choose. I, personally, went with Sassy.

As for the moveset... there are two I found that seem quite effective:

    Spiritomb @ Leftovers
    - Dark Pulse/Pursuit
    - Pain Split
    - Will-O-Wisp
    - Hypnosis

I tend to lean towards Dark Pulse, but with Pursuit, Spiritomb makes the greatest Alakazam counter EVER. He's immune to Zam's two most powerful moves (Psychic and Focus Blast) and takes mediocre damage from Shadow Ball. When he flees, Pursuit him for a quick KO. This moveset also makes a decent lead; it's my lead, actually. XD

    The second moveset:

    Spiritomb @ Leftovers
    - Sucker Punch
    - Will-O-Wisp
    - Pain Split
    - Taunt

Taunt-Punching Spiritomb; a set Blissey truly fears. It requires a bit of prediction, since Blissey usually outruns him for a Thunder Wave, but if you can Taunt her, then Burn her, she's free game for you. Sucker Punch does decent damage, since it's physical, and with her enormous HP, Pain Split does good damage even if Spiritomb's HP is full! All this while Will-O-Wisp slowly wipes down her HP, and because of the Taunt, Blissey can't 1.) Aromatherapy to heal her Burn, or 2.) Softboil for a stall war. It should be noted this would work most effectively if Blissey was the last Pokemon for your opponent, which happens more than you would think.

    Your first set intrigues me....

Would it not be better to have CM instead of hypnosis?

Purely because once they're burned they're not going to sleep....

Or am I missing something? (which I probably am....)

    DAN!

    Mine has got:
    Spiritomb@ Leftovers
    Dark Pulse
    Hypnosis
    Pain Split
    Substitute

and has no problems... Substitute and Pain Split is a gooood combo

Sleep clause...it's kind of like double powder...and pursuit is nice with it too.

Like Anti-Pop said, most of the time someone will switch right after being put to sleep. You hit the guy coming in with a Will-O-Wisp.

If you use Spiritomb as a lead, the extra status move is useful to surprise a Heracross coming in thinking of absorbing a Will-O-Wisp. Calm Mind can work, but I don't advise it, since virtually any Steel type will see it as a free switch (and if you run Dark Pulse, then Heracross will enjoy coming in against you). Skarmory just begs to set up Spikes on a Calm Mind Spiritomb, and then Whirlwind him away. Although, you could run Taunt along with Will-Wisp to make him a Tauntratomb. XD

The only thing about Calm Mind Spiritomb accepts is the increase in Special Defense, because he's not gonna be doing much damage on anything that's not weak to Dark/Ghost/Psychic, or whatever attacking move you choose.
