My friend gave me this pokemon since I needed a flying type. (To lazy to train one)

    Staraptor @ leftovers

    Level: 42

    Hp: 162/162
    Attack: 130
    Defence: 113
    Sp. Atk: 86
    Sp. Def: 86
    Speed: 128

    Nature: Bold

    MoveSet:

    Fly
    Aerial Ace
    Close Combat
    Steel Wing

So any suggestions on like moveset or held items.

Bold on staraptor is suicide. Same with fly

Bold is a horrid nature, try adamant or jolly. As for the Moveset and what not, here's a suggestion:

    Staraptor@Life Orb
    EVs: 252 Speed 252 Attack 4 HP
    Nature: Jolly
    Aerial Ace
    Close Combat
    U-Turn
    H/P Fire/Roost/Toxic/Pursuit

Thanks for the help. I will breed to get jolly.

Brave Bird can be used over Aerial Ace if you want to really bump up the damage.

But then you should drop the life orb for sometihng like a shell bell.

Heh, may as well consider a Choice Band then, rather than having to suffer double recoil.

I personally use that version, Brave Bird - Close Combat - Quick Attack - U-Turn with Choice Scarf. Nature either Jolly or Naughty, Jolly is recommended.

AND, if you want Staraptor to work well, try breeding double flawless IVs to it. Speed and Attack is what I'm talking about.

I actually like Life Orb Brave Bird Staraptor. Idk how it'll work in a lvl100 6v6 environment, but in a lvl50 3v3 environment, he works like a charm.

He doesn't have good defenses to start off with, so I'd rather have him deal more damage while he lasts.

To be honest, there's only 1 way to use Staraptor:

Staraptor @ Expert Belt / Shell Bell / Choice Band
    Ability: Intimidate
    EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
    Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
    - Close Combat
    - Return / Double-Edge
    - Brave Bird
    - Quick Attack / U-Turn

He's my favorite Flying Type, don't get me wrong, but they made him oh so limited >=(

Better than HP Fire...anyhow, you can scarf it, which allows it to outspeed the 130 base speed club with aero, jolteon, and the gang, as long as you use jolly. It has its advantages...but I prefer shell bell.

With Staraptor, you really only want to hit once, because the poor fellow isn't too good on the endurance side. CB and Scarf are the only serious item options on him, imo. It's not like Shell Bell is going to stop being sucky now. =O

    Staraptor @ Choice Band/Choice Scarf
    Jolly Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
    Brave Bird
    Return/Double-Edge
    Close Combat
    U-Turn

    Kamikaze flight ftw. x3

If you're holding Scarf, hit Adamant on the Nature
If you're holding Band, hit Jolly/Naive/Hasty on the Nature
