Starting a hack: Pokemon War

    Hey everyone, I was planning on starting a hack called 'Pokemon War'. This hack might be obvious. What I plan on doing for the storyline is a war between regions; most likely Kanto and Johto vs Hoenn and Sinnoh. I'm unsure about one thing yet, and that is basing it from Firered or Emerald. In Firered, you can catch the unused 24 Pokemon (Which I will most likely replace with Sinnoh Pokemon) without the game crashing. In Emerald, there is more useless stuff to replace. But, I am sure for one thing, and that is if it's Emerald based, Brendan/May will be the main protagonist, with Red/Leaf being the antagonist, and flip it around if it's FireRed based. Anyway, just reply if you think it's a good idea and would like to help! Thanks!
     
    It's a decent idea, worth pursuing. FireRed has more free space to implement more features, like expanded Pokemon if you don't want to be limited to the ?? Pokemon slots. But Emerald has more support for a changing gender based rival.

    Crizzle? The actual Crizzle? Wow, never thought someone like you would reply! I watched a LP on Outlaw, but could never find a working IPS Patch. Outlaw was pretty good, only if I could find a working way to download it.

    Anyway, you are a pretty awesome at programming, from what I know, and feel you could be a really big help. So, are you actually interested in helping, or just gonna give advice?

    I've got a few other big commitments, so I can give some advice if you need it.

    I'm definitely gonna need you for ASM routines, I have almost no idea how to do those. And, I can do repointing, but not that good at it. Everything else I'm OK with doing myself.
     
    um just saying fire red is bae
    but either way rom expansion gives you up to double the original space so really don't worry about free space until music hacking
     
    Fire Red is awful and has to die, go with Emerald.
     
    I dont think Fire Red is bad. Ofcourse Emerald has the Dynamic Attack Rombase, Berry System, Battle Frontier, Pokemon Contest etc., but Fire red can get these things too. There's no patch for Emerald that have all the Gen 6 Pokemons except Theta Emerald, but it is too buggy atm. Fire Red has got Artificial Red & Fire Red 721+ patches, which includes most of the things we need. But that's just me, because i love Fire Red :D
     
    Fire Red doesn't have a public Contest patch, if I recall correctly and it'll never have Tag Double Battles either. EM also has the entirety of the FRLG OST and 721 Pokemon are too much to bother with for a first hack.
    And no, I won't be helping you, I have my own project, I'm just giving my opinion, is that bothering you?

    I don't plan on adding any gen 5 or 6 Pokemon until "Pokemon War II", which I will only make if the first one becomes successful enough. Also, I'm planning on replacing most of the battle frontier and contest stuff with Kanto and Johto maps, as you will be challenging gym leaders and Elite Four members from Kanto and Johto (Especially Lt. Surge, who will actually be promoted to Maj. Surge in Pokemon War) because they are gonna be part of their "Militaries". Also, Rahul, do you know how to replace the Zigzagoon battle in the beginning with a trainer battle? I really wanna know that, because I'm gonna make Professor Birch be chased by Red, and you have to choose your starter before battling him. I know it's possible, because it's been done in Snakewood, even though it's based from Ruby instead of Emerald.

    It's a Script. It uses the special 0x9F command. Change it & with a trainerbattle & it should work.
