    I noticed that stats in pokemon might change if they like you enough.
    Has it happened to you? It just happened to me.
     
    Happiness has no effect on final stat value other than evolution methods (which will indeed make a pokemon more powerful overall)

    The phenomenon you may have witnessed might just be the effects of gaining EVs or something. :P
     
    What'd you do, just use a Hondew Berry or something?
