Firrst of all, I would like to thank all who posted in my previous post, Team EV help. But according to both Punishment & Nightofshadow, Tyranitar SHOULD NOT learn Stealth Rock. This messes up my whole Noctowl strategy. So here is my quesion: who on my team (listed below) should I teach SR to? I am open to suggestions, as well as replacements.

Now I know that Noctowl is far from one of the more "popular" choices, it's my favorite bird, and if I can't play with what I like, there's no point in playing. I think we can all agree on that. There are 493 pokemon thus far, not 40, so I am not just gonna use the more popular OU choices. I can suceed very well with a Noctowl on my team.

Those in bold can actually learn it. Those with stars I won't change.
    Gyarados
    Raichu*
    Torterra*
    Tyranitar
    Vileplume*(my absolute favorite
    Noctowl*

In a previous battle, I had Noctowl put half his team to sleep. While his Snorlax was sleep, I had used Whirlwind. Oddly I kept getting Venasaur, with recovered with Leftovers. I try to use Air Slash, but he would switch back to a sleeping Snorlax. I use whirlwind, get Venasaur who heals, he switch in Snorlax, rinse & repeat. If I had Stealth Rock out, it would've been different.

I could post moveset if requested. I just really don't wanna Skarmory if I can help it.

umm why do you give snorlax whirlwind anyway? it's a nice surprise, but snorlax should not be doing it.

No no no, HE had Snorlax. I used whirlwind on HIM.

oh well then the simple solution is to give gyarados dragon dance and switch him in. if the opponent's pokes are asleep, then Gyarados can freely boost his attack and speed to sweep them.

So I don't need a Stealth Rocker? Thats nice, I never thought of doing what you said.

yeah. stealth rock is a nice thing to have, but if you can't fit it into your team and strategy, then don't.

If you won't change any of your pokemon, and you won't give TTar Stealth Rock, how can you give your team Stealth Rock?

The only two good Stealth Rockers, in my opinion, are Aerodactyl and Gliscor.

After I read what I wrote, I noticed I gave no room for improvement. So you can ignore that first no change comment. I just wanna use what I personally like.
But Vileplume and Torterra stays, they are my favorite.

I tried swampert as a stealth rocker and she was decent. It had the defense and hp to take hits, though grass moves are always a threat. Still very good though. Empoleon has worked time and time again also. Claydol's another good one, and it's not just a stealth rocker but rapid spinner also. It's levitate ability is very useful and it has the defense to wall and pretty decent sp.att to boot. I know you like torterra but i has to go. If you want electric resistance claydol and swampert are both much better, and I don't see the point of having two grass types. Fact is torterra brings next to nothing to your team(I know cuz i've battled you before) so there is a need, it's the one to go. I think Noctowl actually did a lot better than torterra if i recall correctly, in fact surprisingly it was one of the best..

What happened to your Golem? I thought it was pretty good also, I was surprised by it. BTW, am i the guy who kept using snorlax and venasaur? :/

edit:i meant swampert but i typed "skarm" for some reason -_-

Heh, I know, I didn't want to mention names. The reason I have Torterra cause, well, he's my first, and my first is always on my team. But Claydol, hmmm. There's a thought. I replaced Golem cause he has low sp.def, and 4x weakness to Grass & Water. So he falls pretty quick.

So, I might be thinking of trading in TTar for Claydol, I'm more suited for defense, anyway. Does anyone know a good moveset for Claydol, involving Stealth Rock, & maybe Rapid Spin?

I think claydol would do wonders for you. Drop torterra. claydol not only resist electric but it has levitate.

    Claydol@Leftovers
    Levitate ability
    Modest Nature
    Evs:252hp 200def 58sp.def
    -earthpower
    -ice beam
    -rapid spin
    -stealth rock

its only down side is its base hp is kind of meh(that's what hp ev's are for). but it has good base def and great sp.def stats, especially sp.def. modest nature so its attacks have decent power(would't hurt to have some ev's here either, but not a lot), and evs should focus mainly on its defenses. sp.def is great as it is so it requires fewer ev's. this is just a guideline but yeah, that's pretty much how claydol works.

What about Cosmic Power somewhere in there? Would that work?

And I just can't tear myself from Torterra, though he will be switched out every now & then. No one said a team is permanent!

What the hell are you talking about? WRONG completely. There are ALOT of good stealth rock pokemon

    Swampert
    Torterra
    Blissey
    Gliscor
    Jirachi
    Uxie
    Donphan
    Claydol
    Bronzong

The list goes on and on. Why do you insist on making such bad statements and advice.

i wouldn't suggest cosmic power on it.. it's a utility pokemon as it is and it needs to be able to fight back a bit. it needs to punish opponents that try to use an eletric attack on your team, that's what earthpower is for. ice beam gives it good coverage as it hits a lot of pokemon and hits flying types that resist ground moves.

unless it can baton pass(which i'm actually not aware of) then cosmic power is pretty much useless because even if it ends up with invincible defenses, it certainly wasn't going to beat the other team with possibly rapid spin as its only offensive move.

Quite a list. I have Torterra doing something else, but he's a thought. But I still might go with Claydol, though. I like Psychic types.

EDIT: C-dog, thanks. Claydol is a great poke for my leaning-towards-defence team (if anyone noticed). While I type with the Wii, I'm a bit slow.

OK, is Calm any good?If not, then Bold.

It can't learn Stealth Rock. Why did you think it can?

    Thanks, by the way.

Oh so now you edit, eh? Smart. Anyway, I'm not having Gliscor on my team, cause I choose Claydol. But thanks anyway.
