Alright so this isn't that big of a topic, but i really need some input from people here...
Currently i have Steelix on my team, but i'm REALLY considering replacing him with Forrettress, though i really have no clue where to start (other than first getting a Pineco with a good nature haha)...

i just don't know a lot about either of these 2 pokemon and their capabilities....
or if i should just stick with Steelix?
either of them, i'm looking for help with a moveset that at least includes EQ,
maybe Forretress can work as a rapid spinner (though i'm not sure what that really does good for a team, if anyone could explain?) and a tank as well?
I'm unsure, so that's why i made this topic! i'd really appreciate some help on this
    thanks <3

forry walls better, but steelix is all-around better IMO. i'm typing on my wii, so i can't posthat the set...

well, here's the rest of my team as of now.

Not all of the movesets are final though...

    Typhlosion@(nothing right now)
Naive (terrible nature, i need to breed him to get an Adament cyndaquil or something...)
    -Eruption
    -Subsitute
    -Focus Punch/Focus Blast
-? (Earthquake is here for now...might replace with Hidden Power or some other Special move that isn't Fire)

    Crobat@Black Sludge
Adament (i might breed him to get a Hasty one, something to boost speed and possibly shiny... hehe)
    -Sludge Bomb
    -Toxic
    -Confuse Ray
    -Air Slash

    Kingdra@Damp Rock
    Careful
    -Rain Dance
    -Surf
    -Ice Beam
    -Dragon Pulse

    Magnezone@Leftovers
    Adament
    -Flash Cannon
    -Magnet Rise
    -Thunderbolt
    -Hidden Power (Ice)

    Dusknoir@Leftovers (maybe)
    Modest
    -?
    -?
    -?
    -?
(it's still a Duskull, and i'm still working on it's moveset but i will probably ask about that LATER hahaha...not right now.)

and this is my IDEA for a Forrettress moveset...but it's most likely terrible because i'm not that great, really

    Forretress@Leftovers
(some kind of nature that beneficial to defense)
    -Rapid Spin
    -Rest
    -Spikes
    -(something here....)

Yeah those natures are all horrible, but a rapid spinner is nice.

Haha, thanks for reassuring that...Yea, i need to do some breeding this weekend...
    anyways
what would you think a good moveset could be for a rapid spinner Forrettress? (other than it including Rapid Spin)

well, here's the rest of my team as of now.

Not all of the movesets are final though...

    Typhlosion@Heat Rock/Wise Glasses
Naive (terrible nature, i need to breed him to get an Timid/Modest cyndaquil or something...)
    -Flamethrower/Eruption
    -Focus Blast
    -Solarbeam
    -Sunny Day

Typhlosion is poor enough as it is - trust me, I have one - and it really is best to use all it's strengths because, in reality that is all that it has. So I'd just suggest turnign it into a Special Sweeper - because otherwise Typhlosion can do nothing.

    Forretress@Leftovers
    Relaxed
    -Rapid Spin
    -Rest
    -Spikes
-Explosion - Just choice preference here, really. If Forry's going down, then you'll want it to at least do SOME damage anyway.

    Edits and comments in blod.

That said, I'd go for Forretress over Steelix, considering the rest of your team. Forry's an incredible wall, can set up Spikes and Rapid Spin them away - and there's the added choice of Explosion.

Well, it depends on your Team's needs. And isn't 200 Def nice to have? If you need a Wall, use Steelix. If you need a Rapid Spinner, (already posted). Use forry.

    Steelix (M) @ Leftovers ** The Wall
    Trait: Sturdy
    EV's: 252 HP / 120 Atk / 136 SDef
    Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
    - Earthquake
    - Stealth Rock
    - Stone Edge
    - Explosion.

That steelix is going to go down very quickly with NO defense EVs. SR is pretty much a waste on it, since it needs every moveslot it gets. Um, blowing up steelix is a bad idea. Some walls can pull it off, like forry, but my god steelix IMO should only explode with a choice band.

First of all, you're going to want to trash stone edge. Sorry, but steelix can take 2 EQs TOPS. Missing with stone edge (ask penguin, it missed 3 stright times in our battle :/) is going to REALLY hurt the iron snake. Gyro Ball is better, I mean really. It will inflict a good amount of damage on many threats to it.

If you really want steelix to explode, put it over gyro ball. But otherwise, throw in rest over explosion. Trust me, since I use steelix a lot more than you think, steelix NEEDS recovery, and something more than wish support. Which leaves us with rest. You'll realize steelix becomes nearly impossible to take down (assuming you have a beller to rid the iron snake of status).

Stealth rock? God I hate that move on Steelix. If for some reason you're convinced you need a SRer, I highly advise you not to use steelix. I personally think that Steelix needs roar. DDers often think they can DD up effortlessly and OHKO the beast...no. Roar 'em away. Also, sincce many pokemon threaten Steelix so much with EQ and CBed close combats, it'll also come in handy for scouting purposes and roaring away things the iron snake can't handle.

    Steelix (M) @ Leftovers
    Trait: Sturdy
    EVs: 252 HP / 16 Atk / 184 Def / 58 SDef
    Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
    - Roar
    - Rest
    - Earthquake
    - Gyro Ball

Is the set I recommend. to be honest, it's the only set that has really worked for me :/

hmmm after reading all of that about Steelix i realize that he's better than i thought he was! hehe, i think i'll stick with him, thanks for the really good moveset! =)
honestly though i don't think i have a "heal beller", or quite know what one is and what pokemon work well as one, is it crucial for a team to have a heal beller?

Alright that sounds really good! cuz i don't have a grass type otherwise and none that can learn Grass Knot...thanks for the help on his moveset!

I don't recommend sunnybeaming, but okay...

And yes, it is VERY important to have a heal beller. I just had a battle where my entire team (literally) was paralyzed, but blissey healed me away ;) So yeah. And steelix will need a beller so that it isn't vulnerable after rest.

Well in that case...i might just do away with Dusknoir and have Blissey or Chansey (whichever) on my team! <3
it sounds like a real good idea...thanks for the input! =)

Forretress is way better than Steelix.

    Forretress @ Leftovers
    Impish Nature (+Def, -Sp. Atk)
252 Hp, enough EVs to hit 400 Defense, then put the rest into Attack.
    - Stealth Rock/Spikes
    - Rapid Spin
    - Gyro Ball/Spikes
    - Explosion

Keep Steelix its defense is really good.

I think that steelix having good defence has been established ;)

and Towlie, forry IS better than Steelix, but it isn't as big a difference as you think [/homer] Yeah, my typical biased opinions...

Yea, it might be better and i do like it and might train one on the side just to mess around with it,
but i do like Anti-Pop's suggestions for Steelix and it seems like he'd work out better for my team as a great wall =]

Er...thanks for reiterating that fact i guess hahaha =P

Well, point is, you can't really go wrong with either. though it PAINS me to say it, forry is better :'( But both are veery good in the right hands.
