Steelix or Forretress?

heyyyyyy... i think steelix has way more potential than forretress. it doesn't fear magnezone in the slightest and can actually do some real damage with STAB iron tail/earthquake before dying XD

It depends on the team. My team needs a spinner, so hello Forretress.
 
Steelix would be cooler if he could Rapid Spin.

but i mean he can EQ and get STAB w/ it so it's all good =D
i'll train a forrettress too just so i can change back and forth so pretty much everybody wins! hahahaa XD
 
Yea, STAB earthquake is cool, but Steelix's attack is really bad. I never could use him good. He does get explosion though, which is always fun.
 
Steelix kinda does have mediocre attack. 85 base isn't great really. But it's good enough that it's usable, which is all you really need. and if you love steelix as much as I do, you learn to overcome its shortcomings ;)
 
Yes. But its attack turns to very good when you run brave (for gyro ball) with max attack, CB it, and hammer down the opposition.

And I know Iron Tail gets a bad rap, but it actually can work on steelix. If I hear ONE person say "No, iron tail leik, suckz!" I will get angry, since it actually can work given the correct circumstances. Of course, now that we have gyro ball, it only really finds use in older metagames, just thought I'd point that out. that being said, it is rather ricky and isn't the best, but it CAN work.
 
of course it works! i have video proof of steelix owning noobs w/ iron tail! XD

in all reality, the only reason why i gave it iron tail is because i find gyro ball a bad move in general when it's threatened by pokes who are generally just as slow as it. plus, it's signature on steelix.

also, one thing to note -- although steelix's attack stat is 5 LESS base than forretress, its defense stat is 60 HIGHER base than forretress. this allows you to just give steelix max HP and not worry about def evs and max out its ATK. with NO evs invested in defense at a nuetral nature, its DEF stat is STILL higher than a max def ev Relaxed forretress.

while steelix does have more weaknesses that it must tend to, it can be a given a substantial amount of attacking power. that isn't so much an option for forretress.

but i must admit. forretress is more adaptable towards being a physical wall than most. it has reflect/light screen, every type of spike, zap cannon, etc.
 
Zap Cannon? Too unreliable for my taste. Although insta-paralysis is nice.

Anti, I don't see why you're angry, YOU make such a fuss when people use Iron Tail.

What pisses me off about both is their utter lack of a reliable recovery move. That sucks.

Rest isn't reliable? Anyways, I've never seen him do that. I agree eith him on that matter.
 
Yes, it is. Cressy & Milotic has Recover. Skarmory has Roost. Rest is just...secondary.

Hmm. Recover and Roost don't recover you all the way, and Rest does. Another addition of it, is that you don't get Will-o-Wisp'd, or Thunder Waved. And that hurts. Resttalk is a combo that actually, in my opinion, is great. Edit: And Guts actually makes use of Resttalk. :P

Regardless, 2 turns of sleep? Even if they don't max recover, it heals enough. Plus, I HATE Restalk. 66% chance to hit. 33% chance to reuse Rest. 66% chance to make the wrong move. Not worth it, if there was a choice.
 
Um, notice that I get mad when it is on a pokemon that gains no STAB from it ;)

Rest is annoying, but just use your heal beller and you shoudl be good.
 
SIMS GOT BOOTED OUT! WHATS WRONG WITH THE WORLD????!!!!???!!!?!!??!?!?!?! What did he do? Oh, poor sims, anyone know how long he's gone for? NOT SIMS! And Resstalk is ok, but sometimes, it does use rest a lot when you dont need it.
