paint = nub. use photoshop, its easier to shade, just use transparent black/white segments

Not to mention it costs quite a bit. The GIMP or Pixia would be better free alternatives for those that don't want to shell out tons of money. Sadly, I don't have the links on my laptop right now. Hold on...

Both are really good. I use Gimp when I've got Knoppix or Mandrake running, and Pixia is what I used before I got Photoshop for my birthday. But both are MUCH better than Paint, not to mention that they have a many more features.
