Still want Pikachu, boss?

Why doesn't he walk through Veridian Forest? There are a million of the damn things in there. And there were like, 20 in that pokemon center in the second or third episode. I mean, come one! We've got friggin ten year olds catching Mewtwo, Deoxys, Giratina, Ho-oh, and god knows what else when a grown man just decides to settle for a Pikachu.

Ash's Pikachu is special, since it's the only Pokemon that doesn't want to get in a PokeBall and because it doesn't want to evolve. Also, there are no type mismatches with Pikachu. (It can thunderbolt rock and ground Pokemon as well as anything else.)

Apparently, it was Jessie and James who're obsessed of catching Pikachu. Giovannin just ordered it shut the two up.

Yes, ever since they've seen the enormous power of the little yellow mouse in EP002: Pokemon Emergency! they've been wanting to catch it, because they thought it'd be a good acccessory for their boss. Originally Jessie, James and Meowth wouldn't be around that long (who'd want to have a Pikachu?). However, due to the popularity of the trio the writers decided to include them in EVERY SINGLE EPISODE. I'm getting tired of them :(

A better question would be why Giovanni isn't at his gym any more?
Or why Agatha is taking care of the gym until the replacement gym leader comes place?

My theory is that Agatha is Giovanni's aunt.

He abandoned the gym when it became useless to him. It was after the Mewtwo incident.

Why would Giovanni want Pikachu when he's got lots of even 'tougher' (the stereotyped big, heavy) pokemon? I agree Pika's really strong individually, but he doesn't seem like the guy to appreciate such 'qualities beneath the appearance'.

I'm also confused why he would let Agatha run his gym for him. I mean, Giovanni, Team Rocket represents the 'evil'; and surely a member of the Elite Four aren't 'evil', right?

The gym was blown up and its mysterious gym leader secretly disappeared, so the Pokemon League had to replace him somehow, to keep the business running. I assume that Giovanni needed the gym only to train his Mewtwo, 'cause that's the only thing I've seen him doing there. As for the Pikach-being-a-transformed-Mew thing mentioned earlier, I find it highly impossible, as transforming pokemon get back to normal when they faint.
