Okay, I'll be the first person to admit that I am not a hacker. I have never hacked beyond the range of the Action Replay before, but I'd like to learn. Until I can find time/equipment to do that, however, I have an idea for a hack that would be a lot of fun to make and be a hit to play.

Like most people, I was enthralled when Gold/Silver/Crystal came out and we were able to visit the old Kanto area. Unfortunatelly, the later games didn't include that wonderful feature. So, here's my idea:

Using the Pearl/Diamond game engine (I know there are roms out there somewhere), create a game that goes through all of the story lines that all of the games (official, at least) have come out with. Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh.

For example: have the people start at Sinnoh (easiest, as you don't have to change much for that part), yet allow chances to capture ALL of the Sinnoh Dex, including the legendaries/event Pokemon. Integrate it into the storyline somehow. Next, have the person go through another region, allowing them to take 3 or so of their Pokemon from the old region, and have the rest cut off until beating the Elite 4 of that region. To make up for this, have all of the Pokemon from that region catchable and receive a new starter, etc. Of course, storyline is complete of old regions. Then, when the Elite 4 is beaten, their PC boxes merge and they have access to all of the Pokemon they've caught so far.

So say the player goes to Kanto next, they'd be able to take a set number of their old Pokemon and there'd be a ship that takes them to the Kanto region, where the player is taken to Pallet Town to start anew with Professor Oak.

Continuing this trend, the other regions are gone through until the player has complete access to all of the regions and able to catch ALL of the national dex.

That would be the requirements for this hack. Beyond that, refresh it a little. Put some new adventures in or maybe even a whole new, secret region (if you want). So, what do you think? Who'd be up for that challenge?

No one. D/P is unhackable, no one could possibly include every region and if you're starting off with a select few of your own Pokémon in each new region, theoretically, it's not impossible to start Kanto with lvl 100 Arceus, Mew and Mewtwo.

Don't think you're the first person to come up with the idea and don't think you'll be the last. MisterSmeargle out.

Hmmm...good point. I was thinking more like Torterra or something. I'll have to think of how to force it to be more fair. As for DP being unhackable, that just shows how much of a novice I am at this hacking thing. I guess the right hacking programs haven't come out as of yet.

One question, though, if we're dealing with a rom on a PC, why couldn't all of the regions be included? Not trying to argue, but in my...noobness at hacking, is there a size limit to a rom?

...because we're noobs and don't know the answers to the questions that the veteran hackers know and take for granted? But, hey, at least it's not being a newb and being an idiot just because I can. *grin* It's obvious I need to do much more research to hammer out the details. Thanks for the info, though, it's helpful.

Any other ideas/criticisms/helpful hints on how to make this idea better?

    Well mistersmeargle you are wrong.
    Hiidoran hacked d/p trainers.
As for other stuff like scripts and maps, there is nothing or that...yet.
    Anyways all regions ehh?
    Does this include orre?

Orre would be a lot harder because it's in the major 3d of the gamecube while the rest are on the gameboy and thus are more 2d. However, if whoever programs it wishes to do a conversion either way, I say feel free. I didn't include Orre on account of the difficulty of changing things around and including the programming for the shadow type.

I was not wrong. More people than hiidoran have hacked small parts of D/P but as a whole, we cannot as of yet hack D/P to make hacks.

I'd just like to say I'm not a veteran hacker, I've only been hacking for a little over a month.

ROM hack requests are against the forum's rules.
