  • The target Arf had chosen remained oblivious, eyes still tightly shut, huddled up in the seat. Not a single scratch seemed to be present on the child's body, not even a tear or smudge on her dress. The moment the dog pokémon made as if to leap, however, a single hand intervened, delivering a sharp but controlled rap to his nose.

Frowning, Harlequin stepped up from the seat next to her trainer's, shaking her head disapprovingly at the dark type, much like a scolding mother lecturing a misbehaving child.

With that done, however, she nonchalantly turned back to Evelyn, resuming work on setting up the child's hair, a pair of red ribbons clamped in her mouth and a comb in her hand as she smoothed out the unconscious trainer's blonde hair and secured it in the more travel-conventional twintails.

With the growing commotion, the child slowly stirred, light blue eyes lazily opening to face the sight ahead.

"Mmm...Quin?" the voice was soft and effeminate, the child gingerly reaching up a hand, "...what...happened?"

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lady Lucinda, meanwhile, was not pleased.

This in itself was not unusual. It was rare enough to see the lady Crimson smile when things were going well; with the recent escalation in the conflict, most of the royal guard were just happy that their commander's piercing glare was focused on something besides them for once.

    "My lady?"

With an annoyed little sound, she turned her head to face the approaching soldier, absently shifting a lock of her already short-cut, auburn hair to the side before returning the salute.

    "The archers are in place?"

"Yes. my lady." the soldier replied, still visibly nervous, "We have the craft surrounded, as per your request."

Lucinda nodded, her gaze once again narrowing in on the fallen airship. Around it, a number of soldiers in armor only slightly less decorative than hers were fanning out, spears and shields at the ready. A small group of armored machoke taking point under the supervision of an attentive lucario.

    "Good."

"...permission to speak, my lady?" the guard swallowed, trembling a little as he glanced at the aircraft, "This...thing, do you think it could be-"

"It could." Lucinda replied flatly, "But I doubt it. If this was that prince's doing, there would be no sense in deploying his troops this far in our territory with no source of backup. Stay calm, soldier. We will find out who is responsible for this soon enough."

Stepping away from her unnerved subordinate, the commander slowly approached the wrecked machine.

"Occupants of the flying device!" she called out, "You are trespassing on the sovereign kingdom of Lumaria! As commander of the royal guard, I hereby demand that your leader step out unarmed and unescorted. Failure to comply with this demand or any attempts at hostility towards myself or my men will be regarded as an act of war and dealt with accordingly. You have five minutes."

  • The moment the psychic-type rapped Arf on the nose, Keith immediately saw where things were going. "nononononononoNONONONONONONO!" Just as the dog recoiled back and growled while it prepared for another pounce, interpreting the Mime's reaction as a challenge to a battle, Keith managed to press the recall button on his pokeball. A bright red light enveloped the Mightyena and then drew it back into the ball, which Keith clipped to his belt, sighing. "Travis, I swear to God I'll strangle you..."

"Occupants of the flying device! You are trespassing on the sovereign kingdom of Lumaria! As commander of the royal guard, I hereby demand that your leader step out unarmed and unescorted. Failure to comply with this demand or any attempts at hostility towards myself or my men will be regarded as an act of war and dealt with accordingly. You have five minutes."

Keith was startled by the shout. He glanced out the window, staring at the armored woman. Apparently the armor wasn't just for show- and... kingdom? The kingdom of Lumaria? This wasn't just backwoods then. This was a real, honest-to-god, removed from the normal flow of time bubble kingdom. He'd read stories about places like this when he was a kid, but he'd never expected to actually crash-land in one like this. Somewhere deep inside of Keith, his sense of adventure began to overpower the nausea and paranoia that had been plaguing him since the crash.

He began to plan. The group didn't have a leader yet, and at the moment nobody had stepped forward to asume that responsibility. The captain, he supposed, was technically the one in charge, but he had no way of knowing whether he was concscious or whether he had survived the landing. Also, the lady outside looked pretty insistent. It seemed like a good idea to just get out there already.

Besides, he was already near the door.

"Errol," he called, beckoning to the nearby door, "Can you get this thing open for me?"

The Xatu's eyes flashed with energy for a moment, and the door burst open. It shook its head, apparently fighting off some sort of headache. Keith nodded sympathetically. "Thanks."

Maya shivered and flew forward, clinging to his back. Keith brushed her off. "No, too risky. They might think I was planning to hit them all with poisonpowder or something." He brushed her off and stepped out the door, holding up his hands to show he was unarmed.

He heard a squeaking sound, and glanced to his left to see Elsie trotting alongside him. He thought about shooing her but didn't. He doubted the woman would see a Raticate as a threat anyway. Keith walked towards the armored woman, hands still held up, then slowly lowered them. "...Um... I don't think we really have a leader..." he called over to her, "But my name is Keith Hollis of Kanto... um... I'm willing to speak on behalf of the passengers of the airship if you want."

Stop! You! Trainer! Yes you! We're from Jublife TV. Give us a moment of your time for an Interview Before you Step on that Airship? You will! Good Good. Now you! You're a trainer, going on an adventure on that there AirShip behind you! When did you become a trainer and for what purpose did you set out on this journey?

Thanks for asking, I've been a trainer for 9 years, actually, the first three years of which I spent in my homeland, of Olivine, Johto. I studied under the famous gym leader Jasmine before she retired, she taught me most of what I know about battling and Pokethlon competitions, anything else I learned by trial and error as I spent some time abroad in Hoenn and Sinnoh before I returned to Kanto. As a child, Pokemon was always really a major passion of mine, another being stylish and practical fashion for Pokemon trainers.

Sorry! That's completely beside the point, I actually became a trainer to experience more of the world and to help my father in his studies, however, on my journies I have developed life-long bonds with several Pokemon, so after my father decided that he had enough evidence to back up his theories, I didn't really stop. It was a big decision for me to become a trainer, because in doing so I somewhat had to repress my other passion, which is fashion design, I had to abandon it because at that time I really had no idea on practicallity, and as I've explained, it was a very big choice. I do not however, regret it.

I now work as a Pokemon Photographer, and though it is challenging work, I'd never trade it for the world. It helps Proffesor Rowan, who I recently met in Sinnoh and agreed to help on his Pokedex project, and it also helps me as one day I'd like to become a breeder, and as you know, that does involve connections and cooperation with Pokemon, both of which are involved in getting pokemon to take a good photo!

What about your Pokemon Team? You seem like quite a powerful trainer. What's your ace in the hole? Your favorite Pokemon? Your lap Pokemon? Our viewers at home want to know all about it, every last little detail!

Well actually, I just now am only carrying one Pokemon with me, my beloved Shinx. You can call him Eros. I picked him up on my recent adventures in Sinnoh and we made an instant connection. When I found him, he was making really unsuccesfull attempts to catch Remoraid, of course I fed him some poffin, and we just clicked. I always make it a point to catch one Pokemon I truly love as I travel. At home I have a Miltank, a Tangela, a Magmar, and a Manectric. They currently help my mother and father who have been able to comfortably retire due to them.

Fab-u-lous~ Now, as a young person, you must have some traits you're proud of. Care to share them with our viewers at home? No need to be shy, I'm sure you're already used to the paparazzi!

Oh please, you're too kind. Well I'm very level headed! That's one thing, I really don't know what else I could say haha... well I suppose that makes me modest too eh? Joking aside, I'm quite the ambitious young adult, and I have a few achievements under my belt. Why, even Eros himself has a cute ribbon, master rank! I suppose I'm also quite generous and sympathetic, both of which are sometimes a fault, rather than a positive trait.

MM-MM-MM! Splendid, purely splendid! BEAUTIFUL! Now! Everyone has something they're not proud of. How about you? What are parts of you you don't really like? Bad Acne? Bad Breath? Spill it out loud!

Ahahaha~ Well, I do get quite jealous or bitter a lot, and I'm not the best and handling criticism either, I do tend to slip into a bit of a stuck up attitude now and again and eh, well, I can be rather condescending sometimes. I'm terrified to death of Spinarak and I am far too attached to material things. I'm also not that patient or attentive, particularly towards cooking or cleaning, often only cooking things that are simplistic or hey! not cooking at all.

That's it? Sheesh that's not so bad. Tell us about your fashion sense! What makes your look the next hottest thing to ever come out of Celadon City? Or are you a fan of the Veilstone designers? What makes you dress the way you do? What makes you pick the Clothing you pick?

Well right now, being a Pokemon photographer, I really don't need to dress too practical. My Knee high boots, black waist-length jacket and sixties style black picnic dress were all designed by moi! I'm not too much of a fan of the Veilstone designers, their look is a bit too combat-ty, I'm more of a refined and reserved girl, you'd never catch me parading around like Marina! That's another thing though, I don't follow trends, right now Marina's clothing style has been really big in Johto, you know, she came from New bark, but really. I just don't see the appeal.

I'll have to remember that. You certainly know your stuff about the fashion industry. either that or you're a really good liar One. Last. Question! Why are you getting on that airship? What do you hope to obtain by flying up in the sky on a machine instead of a Pokemon? What's your intent, your goal, the reason you're moving you're spreading your wings?

I live in Olivine, and I just really want to go home. I can't be doing with flying on a Pokemon because my hair get's messed really easily. When I get home, I'd like to take pictures of Johto Pokemon, because I haven't ever really, and as you know, Rowan comes from Sinnoh, and I just don't see him compiling data on these species in any other way.

I've also never flown by airship before, only by Plane. I'm hoping to take a few snaps of the Johto and Kanto landscape and land formations too, just as a little 'wish you were here' for Lucas and Rowan. It's also getting really close to Christmas and I need to get back home, I've left it a little too late to fly by Pokemon anyway. Kanto to Johto? With this level of snow? The only possible way would be over Mt. Silver, and even then, it'd take me about a week at least!

Thanks very much for all your questions, and I hope that I've atleast helped you understand a bit more about myself and what we like and what's popular back in old Olivine, wish me luck on the journey!

Thank you thank you thank you! Please check your TV soon to see this interview LIVE AND ON THE AIR.

Things were looking...well, bad. In terms of serious injuries, there were only a few reported, most of which comprised of dislocations and minor fractures. Granted, she had only shuffled through a portion of the cabin's passengers before being interrupted by the voice, which was quickly identified to be coming from outside and belonging to the alleged 'scary lady'. What kept her from her sweeping of the fellow passengers then was the actual exclamation that seemed to have labelled her and the rest of the plane's occupants as trespassers of the kingdom of Lumaria and that they now had five minutes to comply with her demands or else be subjected to...war.

It was safe to say that all of the passengers were now focused on the commotion outside and the uneasiness she often felt when being called out returned and began to knot at her stomach. All she could do was peer through the window at the encompassing mass surrounding the plane, wondering who would do the deed and hoping with every fibre in her body that that person wasn't her. It was then that the mightyena's trainer suddenly spoke up and bravely volunteered. All eyes were now glued on the teenager as he promptly exited the stranded ship and cautiously approached the scizor-armed woman.

Fidgeting uncomfortably as she watched him introduce himself, she made a mental note to memorise his name. She didn't know what was going to happen next but if the worse did, the boy would at least be remembered in name.

  • When the 'scary lady' started talking, Joe knew that they'd either be in for a fight, or some extremely shaky diplomacy. All this talk of 'war' and 'action' and 'five minutes' sure made it sound like Joe didn't want to be the 'leader' that she was looking for, so he decided to put his efforts into keeping Jato from jumping out of anything that looked remotely like an opening, so that he could fight.

"Come on Jato, let's go check out the other passengers," He said as he tried to push the scyther to the other side of the plane. It was a good thing that he managed to get as far away as he could, because another passenger, who happened to be in posession of an impressive-looking xatu, broke open the door and walked out.

"Don't forget to ask for some first aid or something!" Joe called out as he finally managed to calm Jato down. He hoped that whoever this guy was, he'd be able to sort this mess out soon. After all, keeping Jato out of trouble was enough work!

  • Lucinda merely narrowed her eyes, her piercing gaze travelling across Keith to the rat pokémon that had scampered up next to him, archers and close combat soldiers alike keeping their weapons trained on the duo the whole time.

At the mention of the name 'Kanto', a fresh wave of murmurs spread across the soldiers, mentions of 'unholy arts', 'sorcery' and 'devils in men's shape' becoming barely audible, only to be silenced by a sharp glare from the armor-clad woman.

"I am Lady Lucinda Bernal of the crimson moors." she replied evenly, her glare back on the trainer, "And yours is a strange entrance, Keith Hollis of Kanto. If you value your life, keep your...companion reined. I do not appreciate this attempt to abuse my patience. What is your purpose for intruding on our lands?"

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

    "Eh...e-e-excuse me?"

Evelyn cast an anxious glance at the crowd in the plane, still unsure of what was going on. They had crashed, that much could be confirmed, and Quin's timely Barrier was the only thing that had kept them both from harm. There also seemed to be some kind of commotion going on outside, but with the all too eager-looking Scyther thrashing around, he was too scared to even consider moving closer to the door.

Instead, the child quietly wiggled out of his seat, taking care to keep as far away from the Scyther and its trainer as possible as he inched his way to one of the girls in the group, tugging her gently by the sleeve.

"Ah, e-excuse me?" Evelyn blushed slightly in preparation, painfully aware of how strange it was for someone as delicate as himself to not even have suffered a visible bruise or even dirtied his clothes and feeling a slight sting of guilt over it, "Could you...possibly tell me what's happening here?"

  • Keith held up his hands. "I'm sorry about Elsie, ma'am," he said nervously as he began to take notice of just how many soldiers were out there, and how many pairs of eyes were staring at him. "Um... er... heheheheh..."

    Elsie bit Keith's leg, lightly.

"OWCH!" He glared at her, and realized why she'd done it. "Um... thanks." He turned back to the soldiers. "Our purpose for... er... intruding... is that we crashed. We didn't mean to be here, and I'm pretty sure that if our pilot's still alive we could just leave again if the airship isn't too badly damaged... see, there was this flock of Pidgey and they... um..."

His voice trailed off. "...Please, we didn't mean to come here. There are kids on board, ma'am, little kids, and we've got a lot of injured people and..."

His face turned white. "Please don't kill us. Please?"

Elsie, for her part, was totally silent as she stared intently at the soldiers facing them.

  • Lucinda merely wrinkled her nose at Keith's behavior, maintaining her glare.

"I can not decide whether you are making a particularly poor attempt at playing me for a fool or whether the impact has addeled your mind. Either way, you are sorely mistaken if you think you can simply leave, and your behavior has only confirmed what I already suspected." she made a small hand gesture, a pair of armored Machoke detaching themselves from formation and approaching Keith from each side.

"Keith Hollis of Kanto, your behavior and words are too suspicious to let slide, and even if I were to accept that your group is currently harmless, this proves nothing of your true purpose for coming here. I demand the unconditional surrender of yourself and your crew. If you do so without objections and subject yourself to her majesty's justice, I will spare your lives until her majesty decress otherwise. Do you accept these terms?"

  • Keith gulped and held up his hands. "...Um... I surrender completely, but I'm not sure I can speak for everyone... I was just the guy closest to the door when we crashed. So um..."

It suddenly clicked with Keith that this whole thing was not going to end well unless he just smiled and nodded. If they were lucky, "her majesty" would be willing to treat the injured once it was discovered that they weren't soldiers. "...Um... I surrender myself and anyone else willing to follow me. That's all I can do." He stared at the armored Machoke, fervently wishing that Errol was beside him instead of back inside the airship. Not that the Xatu could do much, but he'd feel a lot safer with a psychic-type around to make sure these guys didn't break his neck the moment they decided he was a threat.

He remembered something. "Um... there are injured people on board the airship. If we surrender and go with you, are they going to get any sort of medical attention? ...I mean, if you're planning to hurt them or something I can't just-"

Keith shut up, realizing that now was not the moment to grow a spine.

  • "That is a matter for her majesty to decide." Lucinda replied, "I will have my men see to it that no-one still alive at the time of surrender will perish from their wounds, but that is all I will offer. I have no intention of causing undue casualties, but neither am I willing to spend any medical supplies unnecessarily before I can confirm that you and your crew are not our enemies."

She gave a curt nod, the Machoke each taking a step back, "You have ten minutes to convene. Those wishing to surrender will walk out unnarmed and one at a time, with any companions they may have with them docile and kept at at least 10 meters' distance from each other at all times. I will not guarantee the safety of anyone who violates these rules."

  • Keith gulped and nodded. "...Thanks for your.. um... generosity, I guess."

He slowly made his way back into the airship, trying not to panic. Elsie trailed behind, but stopped at the door long enough to glare at Lucinda one last time.

"...Well, guys..." he gulped. "You heard them. And they've got a lot of weapons. I don't know about you, but I'd rather we not die. Um... sorry if electing myself leader got us all in trouble, I just didn't..."

Errol simply looked at his trainer and shook his head. Maya, meanwhile, landed on his back without his notice and began to cling to it.

Axel, his attention now rightfully removed from the young girl, now focused it uneasily between Keith and the outside force. His voice almost a whisper, he spoke up. "Do we even have a choice? Looks to me, either we go with them, or we meet the business end of their Pokemon." He stood up carefully, his legs showing a little more fear than he would have hoped to portray. "I don't know about you guys, but I know I wouldn't have been able to touch any of their Pokemon. I'm no trainer, I'm an archaeologist, for god's sake." He sighed and gently kicked a piece of debris out of his personal space. He crossed his arms and looked directly at their self appointed leader.

"I think you made the right choice, Keith, by going belly up like that. I doubt they would have bought any 'Oh, we're foreign royalty, fear us' bullshi-" he caught himself, recalling his company. He cleared his throat and nodded. "You know what I mean."

"Point is," he continued, turning his gaze to the rest of the occupants of the ship, "our best bet is to just go with these guys, tail between our legs. If anyone has any plans of trying to escape or do anything stupid, now might not be the time to exercise that right. I hope I'm just stating the obvious here." he finished, thrusting his hands in his pockets and staring at the floor beneath him.

The child let out a whimper, peeking out only once from around the man's legs before her head jerked up slightly at the sound of another young person. He was confused...but not hurt from the blurry once over she gave him. Pushing her glasses up, she raised a meek hand in his direction, "..U-um... We crashed. Boom! And there's a crazy lady outside with a big sword and it's scary and... Apparently Keithy is our leader and he's making us surrender like in Hide and Go Seek except this time there's no olly olly oxen free... and stuff. ...Are you okay?" Aina inwardly winced, knowing her ankle was swelling and she shouldn't be moving so much but it was alright, other people could be hurt to. Limping a couple of steps, she grasped Evelyn's wrist and tugged him into the center of the circle, looking up at the taller people talking.

    Giving up...or not giving up.

Really, as long as nobody got hurt they'd be fine.

But she was still scared and the ache in her chest was just getting worse with this situation. Nobody should get hurt, that would be really bad, horrible, and a little sad. Nibbling on her lip she grasped the boy's wrist slightly tighter before realizing it and let go quickly, embarassed.

  • Joe sighed. "We may have a little trouble. This scyther here? Like the rest of his kind, he goes nuts over the slightest sign of red and well...he won't go into his pokeball unless dad's around...wait, I've got it! Hold still Jato, this is for the best," he said as he took off his scarf and tied it around Jato's head.

"Now, just follow my scent and try not to go all crazy on us, okay?" Joe asked as he guided Jato, who was much calmer, even friendlier now that Joe had made a decision on the matter. With any luck, nothing bad would happen to them.

"Okay people, you heard our 'leader,' get your pokemon in their balls and let's get out of here. Does anyone need help?" Joe asked as he slowly made his way towards the door. Everyone looked okay, but it was hard to tell how much of it was genuine okayness and how much was just a brave face...

Her impression of Keith was one that did not resemble a leader but his choice of words and levelheadedness in confronting the armed lady outside were definitely worthy of him bearing such a title. Of course, she was more so glad that she hadn't been the one in his position but felt at ease knowing that he was genuinely willing or just blindly brave enough to do what she couldn't.

A few more people had gathered by the door as Keith returned, many of them young and eager to put in their two cents on the matter as he reiterated their current situation. She listened intently at the proposition and realised that things weren't just looking bad, they were up and honestly terrible. The sliver of hope she had felt when the 'scary lady' first called out to them, thinking that help had miraculously arrived moments after the crash, had quickly disappeared and was replaced by her usual nausea and now slight panic. There were no promises of help but rather impartial treatment of the injured while those still capable were to be escorted to wherever the lady's 'majesty' resided. It was at this point that her assumptions delved into the ludicrous, the only explanation she could muster being that they had crashed landed on some remote uncharted island where the natives lived and were governed by some form of medieval imperial reign; that in itself being somewhat of an exaggerated rationalisation.

Approving of Keith's conduct and breaking her silent musings, another boy in tennis shoes with bright green laces, explained that their best bet was to simply comply with the scary lady's demands. Having come to the same understanding, she simply nodded in response and awaited the other passengers to begin disembarking, the blindfolding of a scyther beside him pretty much exemplifying the seriousness of the situation.

  • A guy who apparantly was called Kieth stepped out and began er, 'negotiating' with the woman outside. After a few minutes, he had spoken for the group and said that they would all surrender. In imidiate response, Dusku closed his fist and it began to radiate a shadowy energy. "No," Kayla whispered, "we don't want to endanger ourselves or anyone else! Don't attack... we will go peacefully for now." The dusknoir looked down on Kayla for a second before letting his shadow punch fade out. "Dusknoir noi noir dus. Nooooir dusknoir." <Perhaps you are right. I won't fight.> With a relieved look on her face, Kayla nodded to her pokemon and took a deep breath before walking up a little bit closer to the door so that the woman with the scizor could see her. Kayla didn't want to walk out just yet, so she decided to wait until a few others had gone. Realizing that she was blocking the exit, Kayla stepped out of the way and Dusku followed suit, while together they watched as some of the other surviving passengers began to react to Kieth's proclamation.

One of the other passengers asked that they all return their pokemon. Will they attack us if I don't return Dusku? Leaving a small and weak-looking pokemon out is tolerable... but a dusknoir? I hope they understand... Kayla took another deep breath and decided to go out, she wouldn't wait any longer. Another breath. And another. And then, Kayla stepped out behind Kieth while Dusku understandingly followed, but braced himself to attack if need be. "Dusku and I agree with Kieth here, we will surrender."

    ooc: I've thought on it guys and I really can't accept more people than I already have. Thank you for your interest and I'm really sorry I can't take you all. ;;

...was already posted a while back. You should make a proper check before signing up.

    That aside...

    IC:

Evelyn opened his mouth, then abruptly closed it, unable to make a sound. It wasn't until the grown-ups in the group had given their opinions on the matter that he finally felt the pressure to say something himself.

"I...ah," he took a deep breath, steadying his voice. Though his face had visibly paled, he seemed to largely retain his composure, "I...think that's the right thing to do. I mean, I'd...rather not have anyone fight and even-even if we could make it, who's going to help everyone who got hurt? I-I think...this is our only choice, really."

He took another deep breath, receiving a surprisingly unbothered nod in response from Harlequin.

"So, umm..." he grabbed Aina's hand, "We should go and not waste too much time, right? I-I'm sure they won't mind me supporting someone who has a hurt ankle."
